  • Watch American Rifleman staff on the NRA Tech Range with a Davidson's exclusive Girsan pistol imported by European American Armory.
Girsan’s Turkish-built M1911s have gained popularity since their importation to the U.S., thanks to European American Armory Corp. (EAA) and currently, the company offers many variations, as seen here on AmericanRifleman.org. Despite the myriad options EAA supplies to the market, one model you won't find from the import firm is the MC1911S XLV, which is the product of an exclusive partnership with Davidson's. Founded in 1932 as an auto-parts supplier, Davidson’s expanded into firearms distribution in the 1980s. Today, it’s one of the largest firearm distributors in the country. Due to its prominent position in the marketplace, Davidson’s can work with manufacturers around the world to develop exclusive offerings and specially finished models you’ll find nowhere else. One of those models is this MC1911S XLV. Watch the video above to see it in use on the NRA Tech Range.
The Girsan XLV model is a full-size M1911 equipped with a 5" barrel and treated with Davidson’s Dark Earth Cerakote finish. Notice that the Davidson’s Exclusive XLV also only features slide serrations at the rear, unlike most of EAA’s other M1911 offerings. Completing the package is a set of unique polymer grip panels that stand out from EAA’s other offerings, providing an effective checkering pattern and the Girsan logo. The upgrades don’t end there, though.
At the top of the gun, there are beveled, low-profile sights dovetailed into the slide for future adjustments. A skeletonized hammer is included to shorten lock time. A flared and enlarged ejection port comes standard for increased reliability, while the nitride-treated barrel adds natural lubricity and provides corrosion resistance. The MC1911S XLV's frame houses features to improve the shooter's experience by enhanced control points; flaring on either side at the rear of the trigger guard for improve trigger reach, as well as a textured front strap and checkered mainspring housing for adhesion. Protecting the user's hand from hammer- and slide-bite, while also enabling a high hold for improved control, the Davidson's exclusive MC1911S XLV provides a generous beavertail grip safety.
The MC1911S XLV offers an upgrade in the way of extended ambidextrous thumb safeties, but you’ll only find a single-sided slide-stop lever and push-button magazine release, in true M1911 fashion. A solid-body curved trigger offers a traditional feel for this upgraded platform. Shooting the Davidson’s Exclusive MC1911S XLV brought us back to Browning’s iconic platform in a positive way. Of course, XLV, in Roman numerals, means “45,” indicating the gun’s traditional chambering. Despite its classic chambering and standard frame size, Davidson’s ships each pistol with an eight-round magazine, giving you one more pull of the trigger over standard seven-round M1911 magazines.

I picked up one off gunbroker for $399 runs like a well oiled machine while the finish is not as good as the my Kimber's its a great value for the money. I added a vortex red dot and magpul olive grips and it looks sweet. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a 1911 on a budget. 300 rounds no failure to feeds using Kimber 8 round mags Chip McCormick 8 round mags and Winchester target fmj ammo. the trigger is not as good as my Kimber's but they cost 3'xs more. Clean break at 4.5 to 5 lbs. Get you one you will not regret it. I cleaned and lubed it before i took to the range.

What's the difference between GIRSAN MC1911S and a xlv ?

I have the Girsan MC 1911 C XLV. It doesn't have the Cerakote finish like this from Davidsons but appears identical in all other respects except perhaps barrel length.
After a couple of hundred rounds (break in period) with a few cleaning and lubricating sessions, it seems to run flawlessly. I enjoy shooting a gun that isn't plastic for a change! I just wish. 45 ammo wasn't so expensive because this gun is a joy to shoot!

Anyone know what the trigger pull weight should be for this gun? I recently purchased a 4.25 commander and the trigger is awful. I had two very experienced shooters try it and both shot very low and complained about the trigger pull. I’m wonder if that issue is a warranty item?

From what I have read I’m seeing 8lbs. on the stock trigger.

I just got my Girson 1911.
In this video, you are showing an MC 1911 S XLV. The question I have is this. My gun is an MC 1911 C XLV. What is the difference between the S and the C model, and is my gun a Davidson? It has the same finish as the gun in the video.

I have this gun. It will not function with the 10 or 8 round Chip McCormick mags.

I had to take a slight bit off the Chip McCormick 8rd mags conture around the slide stop because it was bouncing around and catching the slide stop between shots. Now? Runs like a champ.

Can’t go wrong with Wilson’s Combat, or Tripp Research magazines.

Rural king has these, how do yall like it?
I was leaning more for a traditional 1911.

The Girsan MC1911 XLV FDE finish is super thin and rough. Looks used even as new. Tisas and Rock River if you want a better finish.
