It's not really about lovers as usually understood; if you go through multiple continuities you will see that if one of them dies, the other will lose their meaning. But they keep fighting since they don't know what else they would do unless one of them switches sides.
Actually i find the quote "journeys end in lovers meeting" touching and deep. It is not just about romance, it is not *even* about romance. Sometimes you just find a phrase that doesn't describe you accurately but you can adapt it to your own situation. And i feel like this is a way in which Optimus learns from "human wisdom" through this phrase. He knows that fights ends when the ones who started it surrender to love. Whatever the nature of this love is. Since Optimus feels guilty for starting the war by opposing to Megatron, it seems logical to me that he clings on this particularly quote. And it's also coherent with his purpose through the whole show: i don't want to kill megatron, but make him aware of his actions and change path. So this phrase, came from "human wisdom" is almost his only hope that there's actually a chance of ending their endless war, if his able to reconciliate with megatron, who was his former friend. that, or the author definitely introduced their ship. And i'm not complaining. Thank you for the video and analysis EK :3
And it wasn't even Optimus who got Megatron to end the war. It was Megatron himself. After Unicron used his body like a puppet, everything just clicked for him, and he felt ashamed that the war was started from his own selfish vanity. So after he delcaired the war over, he left. He exiled himself to some place where he can reflect on everything he has done. Personally, I think where ever he went, he went back to his old role, and actually finds it quite soothing now that he has a better grasp on his life.

"journeys end in lovers meeting" is a quite interesting phrase from Shakespeare🤔(I had no idea jejeje) . If the romantic context is not taken into account, I would interpret 2 things: It refers to Op and Meg managing to find themselves and for just a moment remember the long road they traveled. The other would be referring to Unicron and Primus, because it all started with the conflict between them 2.
Oh, if only we had little journals in each transformers toy, like those Monster High diaries, that would tells us all the backstories and spicy drama of Cybertron
1:49 Bulkhead would do it accidentally. He’s so clumsy. Edit: “Journeys end in lovers meeting” is from Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Flight.” It means everyone is destined in life to find their soul mate. In the context of Primeverse, it may mean 2 things. 1. Upon Megatron’s repentance Optimus feels he had reunited with the friend he lost millions of years ago. 2. (My personal theory) The reunification of Cybertron. Primarily the Allspark with Primus, the Sparks of those lost returning home, and later the people with Cybertron itself. To rebuild what was once lost. A love of their god and of their home. The phrase likely resonated with Optimus because he had hoped for an end to The Great War. The end of this journey that had cost him and the Cybertronian race so much. The loss of friends over ideologies and as casualties. Prime could not understand its meaning because he had been fighting for so long he could not see the journey’s end.
I know this was months ago but I rewatched this and did find myself enjoying the ending part of megatron and prime , I found so emotional and tear dropping when megatron was reflecting his life. But the main point was that I love how this finale scene is similar to the final part of the age of the primes . Like megatronius megatron leaves cybertron with heavy emotions of pain , wishing to do good and like thirteen optimus enters the well in the hope of life returning to cybertron. I'm sure this might've not been intention but I love how this ending comes full circle on how it began, a retelling of myth if you will

Asking why there is just a “recap when we can just watch episodes of TFP” is like asking, “why are their novelizations of films?” The answer is so that you can (hopefully) get deeper insight into what a character was thinking. Like how the novelization for Star Wars Episode 1 was sooo much better than the film dialog. In this context, I didn’t know Prime considered Bumblebee like a son.
Wow I was not expecting this to be a thing in the slightest, I always assumed Arcee didn't have a part in this area of history like the other members of the team
The "lovers" at journeys end must not necesserily refer to actual lovers. They where brothers and then fought for milennia. My understanding is that Optimus projects the quote on their endless war, which is the journey, and the lovers meeting is the inevitable death of one of them by the hands of the other, which Optimus hoped to avoid because of their brotherhood.
For those who are curious, "Journey's end in lover's meeting" comes from Twelfth Night, one of Shakespeare's comedies. The fool Feste uses it to refer to his mistress Olivia and is also used as an allusion to the plot of the play involving the twins Sebastian and Viola. So while it certainly can be used to refer to lovers, more likely than not it is intended to refer to bonded pairs, in Twelfth Night's case it's the twins. In Transformers, the author probably was referring to Optimus and Megatron and how they used to be close, "brothers" However, it's also been used philosophically to refer to the fact that people who used to be held in high regards by somebody are now distant. Again, a direct parallel can be drawn with Optimus and Megatron, how they used to be close but now are distant.
I'm gonna miss summaries of this book. The Covenant of Primus is one of my favorite aligned books, even if it was more of a history book than a narrative one. It gave a good (though admittedly flawed) overview of cybertronian history in this continuity, and I always go back to it to be inspired my just the amount of story ideas you can get from it. I would love to write a story involving the 13 primes or the Golden Age. Maybe I will at some point! (And yeah, in retrospect it does seem that the author is a Optimus x Megatron shipper, which is freaking weird lol)
I think, when Optimus, the team and Megatros were fighting Unicron, Optimus felt lonely as a psychological defencive reaction. People feel themself distant from people and feelings when it's too much. He was sure he will not come back, so, yeah. I think just going to face death felt lonely
I loved all the stuff about the original 13 primes but the rest of the covenant was eh at best. I also don't get why prime was supposedly looking for the allspark like in every other continuity but in predacons rising he knows exactly where it is
@PurpleOwlAnimation that makes sense. Tfp remains one of my favourite continuities because it deviates from g1 whereas cyberverse, wfc, etc all stick to the same plot. I also like the movies for being different but the films seem to be a controversial topic
As much as I would love Optimus x Megatron, I do not think that is the case. Love takes many forms, so "Journeys end in lover's meeting" must mean that Optimus hopes to have the same old Megatron that he admired and looked up to as a mentor and big brother.
This may sound crazy but what if the energon harvester was made to remove dark energon from bots and if my theory is right that megatron was already infected by it from dark energon deep inside his old mine and unicron had Megatron to put dark energon into his spark chamber to kick out his spark then if the autobots find his spark, remove the dark energon it would snap him out of unicron's hold.
Hey Siri I have, it’s not necessarily be taken seriously, but, if humans and Cybertronian‘s literally have the same source of souls, and the interesting parallels between Arcee and June Derby, I kind of at least makes me wonder, especially if you put into consideration the theory of relativity which by the way has been confirmed, could it be possibly, one is the reincarnation of another but since time is relative throughout space, both iterations of Junedarby spirit to get to intermingle within the confines of the transformers prime TV show? I don’t know just a fun theory
How would optimus react if he found out megaron is younger then him by..... I'm sorry but how many vons was it from the age of wrath and how old was Orion pax when megatron came from the well? My god the quote makes me laugh. Forgive me for late comments I .. was going through some stuff in may haven’t really watched transformers stuff in months
Not the most... interesting ending of a book. It feels like it's more meant to be an information book than much entertainment. Like... a bible of some sort. And yet it doesn't really feel like a bible, despite probably being their version of our bible? The Covenant of Primus is weird. Does it say in the Covenant when the Autobots arrived on Earth, approximate year? Coz so far, my guess is the basic 1984 or 1987 like when the bots woke up in the original G1 cartoon, but that guess is simply for one of my stories for now, where Starscream is neutral and alone and arrives on Earth 50 years before the Autobots and Decepticons arrive to continue the war there. As for Exiles, I am having a hard time getting into reading it, still in the beginning and no Decepticons yet, I've reached chapter 6 and not read more for several months, I think. It was the same thing when I first read Exodus, but once I got to, I think chapter 9 or something when Starscream appeared, I finished the rest of the book within like a week or two, I think. So I just gotta push through until I eventually reach a chapter with Decepticons, especially Starscream, and I should be zooming forth again... XD

As much as I would love Optimus x Megatron, I do not think that is the case. Love takes many forms, so "Journeys end in lover's meeting" must mean that Optimus hopes to have the same old Megatron that he admired and looked up to as a mentor and big brother.
thanks for this yes you do make it more enjoyable keep up the good work also cant wait for the next one :)
Personally bro me hearing Optimus say what he said was outta the norm for me 😭😭😭
The god of chaos and death Uni….

So good. Love your videos.
Optimus and elita 1 are good together
I’m excited for transformers exiles to come someday
*JOURNEYS END*
Hey Siri I have, it’s not necessarily be taken seriously, but, if humans and Cybertronian‘s literally have the same source of souls, and the interesting parallels between Arcee and June Derby, I kind of at least makes me wonder, especially if you put into consideration the theory of relativity which by the way has been confirmed, could it be possibly, one is the reincarnation of another but since time is relative throughout space, both iterations of Junedarby spirit to get to intermingle within the confines of the transformers prime TV show? I don’t know just a fun theory
This video was made 5 months ago why is there only 2 comments including mine?
Pretty sure the channel got hacked or scammed
Does anyone know if the picture at 6:07 is part of a comic or not? I’m curious.
Journeys end
How would optimus react if he found out megaron is younger then him by..... I'm sorry but how many vons was it from the age of wrath and how old was Orion pax when megatron came from the well? He was alive when the first cybertronian came from the well of all sparks so how many years older is optimus then megaton?
Orion was literally the first bot created so...
a LONG TIME
Age of Origins to Age of Wrath
HOLY COW THAT'S LIKE LITERAL MILLENNIA, possibly millions of years
@@kwow3233 Wait, Optimus (Orion) was the first bot created?!?!
What all did he do before the caste system was created? Why was he so totally fine with the caste system being put in place at all? He seemed so timid about going beyond his assigned role as archivist in Exodus. Why hasn't this come up more?!
(Or has it and I am just ignorant?)
@@starblocktheflyer7854 Covenant of Primus mentioned it...and maybe Exodus? And I think his whole deal before hand was something akin to 'try not to die'
@@kwow3233 Huh. Okay, I guess back then he wasn't the wizened old bot we often see after millennia of warfare, or the philosophical thinker he was just before the war and after having been a quiet archivist for who knows how long XD.
I was imagining tfp Prime calmly thinking about the ramifications of a caste system and whether it was a good idea. Still seems like being the literal oldest bot would give him some feeling of responsibility toward the others and make him lean towards wanting to be a strong voice in the direction of society as civilization developed.
(I haven't read Covenant... just stumbled on this video randomly, so again I may not have a good sense of their history and how or why it happened that way).
@@starblocktheflyer7854 No that makes sense. I mean, he was still super naive and sheltered, but that is why he talked to Megatron in the first place. So yeah.
Oh my gosh this author.
May God bless you 😎
i think arcee was sent because she is easier to conceal herself
Bro just called bumblebee bumpy
Interesting...
that hub logo put a smile on my face the memories
"to his purple drugs" lol
When I was little I said kumquat in school once, a teacher got mad at me and I was confused as to why I got in trouble, the fact everyone agreed I did something wrong was retarded, now that I’m older I figured out it is a real fruit
Putting his anti-spark in the all spark container cuz remember Unicron spark is an equal to the allspark cuz the all spark is the spark of Primus
Is it possible to find The Covenant of Primus book? The link on the description is broken. Thank you for giving us the other books and excellent video btw.
Finally! Thanks for pushing through the difficult book. Thanks so much and it has been fun listening to you tell the story. :) Seriously though, that auther got a little weird with Primes and Megs relationship. I am sure anything romantic with them would end up like the Bundies from Married with Children show. A couple that absolutly loves to hate each other and both are compleatly disfunctional because of it. lol
6:02 OMG!!!!!
My god the quote makes me laugh. Forgive me for late comments I .. was going through some stuff in may haven’t really watched transformers stuff in months
I still think Optimus and June Darby when I here "Journeys end in Lovers meet"
2:50 Hey wait a second, did he ever mention Knockout being leader? You kind of listed everyone else but him and possibly Breakdown.
What happened to you're voice? It's much deeper then it used to be.

How old is TFP arcee exactly?

XD
♥️♥️♥️♥️
The only romance i could actually see working in TFP is Jack x Arcee, and that's a stretch.
This video made me glad I didn't read this, what a load of crap.
Another reason to dislike TFP
