When Starscream kills Cliffjumper, the Autobots see his life signal go offline. However, the rest of the show claims that the Nemesis’ shielding prevents them from tracking any Autobots who go onboard. So then they could not have known that Cliffjumper had died. It would have been the same as when Ratchet was onboard in Season 3, and they tried to locate the ship to rescue him. Cliffjumper should have been assumed to be a captive; don’t hold a funeral yet! In Darkness Rising 3, for no reason at all, the Nemesis is at ground level, which allows the Autobots to get onboard. It seems like an even worse idea just after they kidnapped someone who works with the Autobots. It’s like they WANTED to give the Autobots the chance to rescue Fowler! It is the only time the Nemesis is just chilling, seemingly because the plot demanded it.
I can think of one plausible explanation: Tracking someones location and reading their life signs are different, they don’t need to know where he is to know his condition. Which is why they couldn’t rescue him, they didn’t know where he was, they just knew he was dead. It would be a sort of retcon for ratchet depending on how you look at it
@@BackwardsMMA The life signal moved with the Nemesis! Also the shielding blocks the signals from being detected, so it really wouldn’t make sense that they could see a signal but not have any idea where it was
Emperor Kumquat I could think of several reason why you could look at someone’s life signs and not their location, such as a built in heart monitor…or a spark monitor(?). They are robots, and Starscream didn’t exactly search Cliffjumper. Though if they could see his location, that is indefensible, weird story decision lol
@@candleman7457 I feel like in a monster of a week show monster dying isn’t that much of a tactical loss. because the main bad guy has basically a endless amount of other people with powers Edit: also your Power Rangers reference I know makeshift could’ve been too over powered if he was left alive in the show. But in Power Rangers sometimes they would use multiple old bad guys to make a new one like in that one episode in the Dino charge, they could’ve at least made makeshift some sort of super vehicon Who could transform into weapons. In that way he wouldn’t be too over powered that the autobots would be too weak but also powerful enough for the Decepticons to use them as an asset. He could’ve been some MAKESHIFT weaponry
It always bothered me that we never got to see Knock Out reacting to Breakdown’s capture or death. Like, we could have seen Knock Out trying to convince Starscream to rescue Breakdown from MECH. They should have had at least a throw away line in “Crossfire” that Knock Out was grieving or that someone needed to tell him his partner was dead. I think their relationship was really interesting, especially as Cons, and it could have been explored better.
It was weird Knockout never held a grudge against Airachnid or, to a lesser extent, Dreadwing. Dreadwing's first mission as commander got Breakdown killed and Knockout doesn't even react?
I think Dreadwing cares more about the honor that Skyquake earned by dying in battle being defaced more so than him dying. Dreadwing likely sees it that Skyquake met his match and died fair and square, and is at peace with that as he sees for himself that Prime and Bumblebee are very tough opponents. This isn't to say he doesn't care about his twin being taken from him, but he also knows that this is a war and people die. He cares that Starscream defaced his fallen twin's honor, especially by involving him in devil magicks that act as a defiance to Primus.
In Dreadwing's perspective Skyquake perished honorably facing the opposing faction's leader but then some certain winged punk came and not only desecrated his twins graveyard MF turned his twin into a purple drug zombie.
@@ozansimsek1660 I’d be pissed if my “legend” of a brother went down fighting Optimus MF Prime and his oddly skilled scout, only for him to become a lean monster that gets sent to the shadow zone.
The idea with Makeshift being loyal to Starscream is such a cool idea! And yeah no one talks about anything with each other...it makes some scenes seem isolated and pointless.
Makeshift could have had the potential to be an actual threat to Soundwave, or at least a rival/counterpart. They probably wouldn't have done that so as to preserve Soundwave's mystique, and I think I prefer him that way, but someone who could fill Soundwave's shoes in even the slightest would pose interesting questions
This entire show was so unfair to Starscream. He's basically everyones Meg Griffin. And I get that Starscream IS a Meg Griffin a little bit, but I feel like Transformers Prime pushed that to an extreme to the point I just felt bad for him all the time.
It was definitely disappointing that he had almost no wins or successes in the series, to the point that he became pretty much an underdog the viewer wants to win. His arc was nice, though.
@@genelearnsenglish4242 it didn't even mean anything at the end, it really never meant anything ever. Almost no one in this show actually evolves as a person.
Yess they completely wasted the chance to make a redemption arc for Starscream, they tricked us into thinking he would become an autobot but nooo, for no absolute reason he tells Arcee he killed Cliffjumper and the idea just got dumped. Also, you would think that MAYBE Starscream been beaten up so badly by Megatron would generate some kind of pity in any of the other characters, but no, nobody cares, so you just feel bad for him and hope he will get a good ending. You also get some hope by the kind of friendship Knockout and Starscream seem to be developing and then in the movie... THEY RUIN EVERYTHING! Knockout betrays Starscream and joins the autobots easily and Starscream...apparently gets killed, or worse eaten, by the Predacons. (I know in RID it's revealed he escaped, but are we really going to count that show? It isn't a good sequel and Starscream's story of how he survived seems forced).
@@nonamesorry7135 Wheeljack learns to trust, Megatron understands what it is to be truly oppressed, Bumblebee makes peace with his past, Arcee has her arc with her partners, Rachet has his arc with growing more fond of the humans and knowing his limitations, Magnus realises he can have fun and doesn't need to be straight laced, Smokescreen has the opportunity for glory and rejects it because he knows he isn't right for it. And of course, the biggest one for me is Dreadwing seeing past the fog of loyalty and developing his respect for Optimus
One of the worst episodes to demonstrate how inconsistent the vehicons strength is has to be the dingus episode where the autobots are transporting the nuclear device. They break cover to fight a few vehicons and it takes forever but on his own, Prime can go tearing through the warship, annihilating vehicons like they're nothing
They missed a huge opportunity to do a satisfying callback when Knockout joined the Bots. It should have been Bulkhead who was in danger. Knockout could have saved him and said, "I guess today's your lucky day," quoting what Bulk said to Breakdown when he rescued him from MECH. It would have proved Optimus point for showing mercy and given the fans some payoff for Breakdown's (possible) aborted redemption arc. Option B for better Knockout joining would have been if he'd been the one to treat Ultra Magnus after his Predacon mauling. It didn't make sense the bots would waste time contacting Earth and bridging Ratchet back when Knockout was right there in the hold and Magnus was badly hurt. Also it was dumb Knockout didn't drive off to help Wheeljack when the Jackhammer was shot down. Ffs he's a medic and none of the other bots even suggest he go help?
He could of found his way to griffin rock and joined the rescue bots academy to teach earth socel studies and cybertronian first aid. I think it would of helped wedge know that he isn't a con just because he's a low caste, heatwave not hiding his low caste heratige (one of my theories that he's faking being high to prove a point), about low caste culture and how old cybertron festavals were celabrated something all the autobots should finally learn.
I have never thought about these points. I am but a mindless consumer and rarely make headcanons (hence why I love creators like you: filling in my empty brain space). THOUGH the one thing I was disappointed in was Breakdown. I would've loved to see him change sides, as Optimus says several times in the series that anyone is capable of change. Once again, a great video.
It always bothers me how Starscream is always the shows punching bag and a joke, even though he has been shown time and time again that he is an actual threat and a very dangerous Decepticon, in pretty much every version of Transformers. Like. . . Just let the Cons win! It's ok the let the villain actually win more often, it just makes the "good guys" victories even better.
The most heartbreaking scene is when Breakdown is killed. My question is: Why did he have to die? I understand that there was a reason behind this, but couldn't they give Breakdowm a more honorble death? And what about Starscream? He is never truly aprecciated. I wish somone could understand him and give him a chance.
All I need to consider a death honorable is to know he fought his hardest and his friends will miss him. We got one, but Knockout should have vowed to kill Airachnid, even if secretly. It would be an in for him to bond with Arcee.
Another thing about Starscream destroying the autobot base. Wouldn't Laserbeak have gotten the exact coordinates of the base, considering that it tracked Fowler there? It's not like the giant letter E would've been the only info Starscream had to work off of. It's really small things like this and a good amount of wasted potential that stuck out to me on my recent rewatch
Unicron: Megatron, you and your Decepticons have known about how the planets were set to align on the promised day. Why are you just now reacting to my appearance? Megatron: oh, uh, i was too high on dark energon to care, so...
I really would of loved if Makeshift stayed a little longer like omfggggg He could've been Soundwaves secret homie like you said, "They've could have complemented each other" Imagine how dangrous Makeshift could've been aggahgaggagagagagga Oh but then you mentioned how he could've perfered Starscream as the Leader, guess he won't be Soundwave's homie no more lmfaoaooa
I mean his role in story was done and he would be really useless with soundwave already being a spy and eavesdropper, also budget restraints and probably toy designs as well.
9:19 Actually in the show, Starscream mentions to Optimus that he saved Arcee, in one of the relic hunt episodes. So yeah they know he spared her. Also TFP flaws can be summed up in two words: Plot holes.
My issue with that scene is that optimums holds him at gun point and in cuffs, *HE DOESN'T HAVE HIS TCOG* he can't fly, or use his blasters. Yes starscream has his missals and claws but he's clearly willing to help optimums so there's no point to be hostel to him.
@@emperorkumquat because it was self gain!! it wasn't kind!. think about it what does Starscream get from killing arcee there? more trouble, more enraged enemies. he already has Megatron wanting to kill his Metal butt, why would he make Optimus such an enemy and unlike Megatron, if he kills Arcee, Scream cannot talk his way out of Optimus' hand, and there is also Airachnid who is a 3rd enemy AND a common one with Arcee and Autobots. SO if he helps Arcee, not only he isn't only potentially not on the bad side of Autobots and autobots can also focus Airachnid more than they do him. Starscream knows Arcee wants revenge so this is a way to say ''Hey I am not THAT bad so go on focus on the bot thatkilled your partner with cold blood'' + Just like in the Arctic Episode Scream can use ''Hey I saved Arcee's life you know'' to use it as bargain chip but Optimus sees right through him. Yeah so he did do it not because the kindness of his Spark, he did it because the Cunning of his mind.
Remember in the episode Metal Attraction when Airachnid and Breakdown were practically both unconscious, stuck together, unable to transform and Arcee just says 'let's leave em' after Bulkhead suggests finishing them off? That was the biggest head-scratcher for me because that was Arcee's perfect chance to kill Airachnid and she didn't even take it. This episode also happened BEFORE the episode Partners, so it's not like you can even argue Arcee's motivation had dwindled by this point.
I'm more concerned about how easy it was for bumblebee for rip out the guy's guts Like he didn't even had a knife or something to cut through the skin No it just 2 punches are the equivalent of someone with a chainsaw to cut through it and boom ded
A lot of these things you pointed out aren't writing problems, but production limitations. The animation models were incredibly expensive and difficult. They couldn't have Knockout and Breakdown in the early episodes because that would've been blowing almost their entire seasons' budget right out of the gate. Makeshift couldn't appear more because they would've needed to develop a full model for him. Notice how he only appears as a silhouette and his body is just a modification of Knock Out's body. That's purely budgetary. (And TFP still probably had the biggest budget of any TF show yet.) There's a lot more to the production and the episode than just the writing of it. Plot holes don't *Necessarily* break a show for me. I guess I can live with the relics not coming into play more often, but I COMPLETELY agree about wasting Breakdown! And Dreadwing!! They just *gave up* on EVERY characters' arcs by the end and that my biggest disappointment by the show.
But this is why you put explanations into scripts or work around. For example, Knockout or Breakdown mentioning where they were, or having Makeshift take the form of Vehicons to avoid giving him a model.
@@emperorkumquat I mean there is a war going so they could have been anywhere and been called or were just somewhere on the planet, makeshift was just a character designed to work once, with everything else these are just small footnotes that aren't really needed
@@kylethefan6062 I mean, for me it ALWAYS felt weird that Megatron only had like 3 or 4 named people working for him but an endless supply of mooks housed entirely on a ship that consistently gets invaded orshot at. He needs to be getting reinforcements somewhere. I would have liked a quick line that they were off-planet or they were tied up fighting Autobots elsewhere and came to Megatron's aid. It's only necessary for worldbuilding reasons to make it seem like the war is still going on but no one has the resources to launch a campaign like Star Wars. Especially since a usual plot for the Autobots would be that they are running out of soldiers or resources to even tackle Megatron.
Breakdown's death is the biggest disappointment for me. As you already said, he had SO MUCH potential and it just got all yeeted away. Also Knockout not really reacting. I would've loved if he just broke down or sth like that, even if just in private ti avoid "showing weakness" in front of Megatron
I like to think the terrorcon Airachnid plot ended with all the infected insecticons “starving” to death on the moon. Since in the show, we don’t see terrorcons transform into their vehicle modes, and the zombie predacons confined in their beast modes, it’s most likely that Airachnid and the insecticons ended up burning their own energon reserves and shut down permanently as they were trapped on the moon. Does this make sense? Let me know
It is shown on the moon that Arachnid is mind controlling the infected insecticons to approach her,, one by one, like moths to a flame, so she can feed from them. But yeah. Un addressed plot hole. And speaking of eventually starving: Soundwave left in the Shadow Zone!!!
@@ratfarmer1 What Brooke means is that Soundwave somehow came back through the Shadowzone in RID15, after he got stuck there in the Beast Hunters finale. However, cybertronians need energon to survive, and there were very few energon sources for Soundwave. Now I think that way of defeating soundwave is dum on its own because he can summon groundbridges at will. It’s the whole reason he got stuck in the first place, it’s how he dealt with Arachnid and the Wreckers in the same season/episode. It’s seen that Starscream and the kids use groundbridges to get out of the shadow zone by just going through them. So then why is Soundwave not immediately back after the humans deal with him? However, with all that said, it’s possible prime made another lore oopsie and forgot about anything that made Soundwave’s energon reserves similar to other decepticons’, because it’s possible Soundwave’s special status as some more robotic transformer allowed him to initiate stasis for a certain period of time or not need energon at all. Maybe laserbeak was even sent out, and soundwave just used the shadow zone to stay safe while he planned to bring Megatron back.
For me personally, I feel like Knock Out could've had better development too. Megatron barely cared when Breakdown died, and with Breakdown's loyalty to him, I'm surprised Knock Out wasn't more upset about that. There are multiple moments that could've been building towards KO planning on jumping factions ever since then. Megatron didn't care when he was hit by a train, and tells him to repair Soundwave's face-glass-thing? instead. He's shown to be clearly upset that Shockwave had taken over as the ship's scientist, taking his lab, and now KO's only used as the occasional nurse. During Thirst, he could've reacted more to Airachnid escaping, because she was the one who killed Breakdown. So during Synthesis+Deadlock, instead of KO, just, hiding the whole time, literally doing nothing, he decides to help Ratchet escape earlier on, and join the Autobots mid-battle. If Starscream's development was handled better too, then he may be trying to get KO back on the Con side, and KO tries to get SS on the Bot side. And then, completely unrelated, I don't want to be that one person, but I feel like there could've been an entire Season 4 instead of only the Predacons Rising special. We could see how all the main characters feel about actually winning, and wondering what they're going to do with their lives now, while trying to restore Cybertron. There'd be screen time showing how the humans are on earth, and how they're dealing w/ the Bots being gone. Meanwhile, Starscream and Shockwave being on the loose together would've made a great side plot, as they're trying to rebuild armies, and are somewhat questioning if all of their planning is worth it. They could find Airachnid on her moon, and try to experiment/use her, or team up with her (probably experiment/use her tho). We could see Knock Out actually develop, like I described earlier. The season could build up to the threat of Megatron/Unicron returning to finally destroy Cybertron. And then, not to get too fan fiction-y, but the All Spark could be returned at the beginning of the season, and we'd get a new cast of characters, rebooting the G1 Movie/S3-4 cast (and maybe throw in a TFRB reference somewhere in there, I don't know...). I guess what I'm saying is that I wish RID15 explored Cybertron after the war more asdfghjkl. But idk, those are just my thoughts.
I really would have liked if Starscream and Knockout became friends and went to the autobots together. For some reason, the writers decided that Knockout betraying Starscream was just a better idea.
Call me cliche or whatever but it always bothered me how the show treated Bumblebee. It feels like they ignored him most of the time because they considered it too hard to give him development when the audience couldn't understand what he was saying. He had hardly any episodes dedicated to him, and his main arc was shared with Ratchet. Also he never seemed to be emotionally affected by getting possessed by Megatron and essentially bringing him back to life. You would have thought he would feel some guilt for that, especially since he was so close to not doing it. It actually feels kind of ablest that they just sidelined him until he got his voice back and then let him have most of his development in predacons rising.
Taking away his voice was bloody stupid in the first place. Bad enough he talks in those stupid noises but they expect fans to think he is worthy of bring a leader? Please!
Love that u brought this up since it's been in my mind forever. I was so weirded out when i didn't see much of a reaction from bumblebee when reviving megatron, would make sense for him to feel guilty. Also i was expecting to see him more, having no voice doesn't make him less interesting. Too sad this show has a lack of emotion in their characters :[
Going on an Emperor Kumquat video marathon today, and your guy's comments are very interesting. I relate to them because I felt similarly when watching the show back when it was on the Hub network as a kid. If the show could be done over, I wish that they would have killed Bumblee instead of Cliffjumper! I think Cliffjunper's personality would've fit better for the series and with the other characters. Bumblebee's character just felt a bit too inconsistent throughout the show for me.
It would be cool if we got a transformers prime comic set in its own continuity to fix some of those plot holes, and maybe give some characters who didn't get the developement they deserved.
@@diamondlockproductions64 yeah dreamwave tried that and the story was following with energon and it was really good but unfortunantly it was cancelled
One thing that I was disappointed in with the show, was 'Patch'. I would have really loved to see snippets of Megatron and Starscream's relationship before the show, to maybe see why and when Starscream stopped being loyal to Megatron.
I wish instead of getting RiD15, we got a sort of “prequel” show/movie, with everything that happened BEFORE Transformers Prime. Like Optimus as Orion, and how Megatronus met and interacted with Soundwave and Starscream. I think it would have been cool to see a contrast in the character’s personalities.
@@TheUnknownGruntProductions Well yeah, but I meant like with the tfp characterizations. WFC and FOC are based on G1 aspects. A lot of people….aren’t huge fans of RiD15, mainly because of some plot choices (bringing Optimus back), and some people think that they should have left the future of the Prime universe alone. I just think it would have been better, if they knew they wanted to make something within that universe, for them to have done a prequel.
Or even him with thundercracker and skywarp or even skyfire. I know a lot of fans would of loved to of seen those three in tfp. How and what would they of looked like?
Sierra. She's set up as Jack's love interest and then disappeared from the show after the start of season 2. Another character arc with lots of interesting potential that went nowhere.
Actually, Skyquake dying not bothering Dreadwing as much as his reanimation is consistent with his character. Skyquake's death at the hands of Bumblebee may not have been a 'fair' one, but he died honourably, in the field of battle. Being a veteran, Dreadwing knows that anything goes in a battle if it isn't monstrous stuff like Dark Energon. Starscream basically stole Skyquake's 'honorable' death by reanimating him.
It’s fine to admit when stuff you like has issues with the story etc. nothing’s perfect and acknowledging these and critiquing them instead of blindly defending out of passionate actually helps the viewing experience without the added drama.
To me being a fan doesn’t mean loving every single thing about what you’re a fan of. It means loving it and still acknowledging its flaws and offer constructive criticism as long as it's not toxic. Nothing in life is perfect, fiction is no exception. There’s always room for improvement.
So true! Criticizing flaws doesn't make me hater, I'm still fan. And in my opinion it even proves what I really like the show, knowing about it's issues. No matter how good any show is, there are always be some flaws that even fans don't like at all
If the auto bots actually used the relics more than once it could actually solve many inconsistencies. You could have the insecticons and vehicons be consistently strong and not pathetically easy to defeat, but over time, as the auto bots collect relics they are able to stand up to them more easily so that they actually stand a chance against the deception army without nerfing it.
I wonder if Season 3 wasn't cut short, that someone would finally mention on-screen on what they thought happened to Dreadwing among other absent or offline bots.
I think what annoys me the most about skyquake's death is how unceremonious it is after his build up earlier in the episode he's supposed to be one of the most powerful cons alive at the time, but he gets killed pretty easily by bumblebee, a *scout* mind you, killing him with his bare hands as if he were a vehicon that just seems a little fragile for such a famous warrior
Rewrite of Starscream's arc, a way to combine elements from G1 and Armada: In the three years Megatron is not leading, it is not Starscream who leads but someone else. Starscream believes he would be a better Decepticon leader. Then, whoever is in charge dies during Darkness Rising, alongside Megatron (although Megs death is only temporary). Finally Starscream can prove he can be a better leader than Megatron! Except he fails. He fails in defeating the Autobots. The Decepticons start to loose battle after battle, and then Megatron comes back and kicks his aft. Starscream's belief that he would be a better Decepticon Leader are called into question. He still believes in the Decepticon cause, but even now he is starting to wonder if he's still fighting for the same cause they started back on Cybertron. Then Starscream gets kicked out of the Decepticons, and he has all this time to think. He thinks about who he is, and where he fits in the Autobot Decepticon War. During this, Starscream starts to grow as a person / character, growing more towards his Armada portrayal. Then, Starscream sees a way back into the Decepticon Ranks with the Omega Keys, a way to restore Cybertron. He rejoins the Cons, but he is no longer focused on fighting the Autobots, now all he wants is Cybertron back. When Megatron decides to use the Omega Lock first on Earth, Starscream is displeased but goes along with it. Then as Season 3 progresses, he tries to earn Megatron's respect back, and tries to steer the Decepticon's back to their original goal from when they first formed. But no matter how hard he tries, Megatron ignores him and pushes him down. Then the finale happens, and Starscream realizes Megatron is going to waste the Omega Lock on Earth, and wait to use it on Cybertron. Knowing the Autobots would rather the Omega Lock be destroyed then used on Earth, Starscream betrays the Cons and allies with the Autobots (Not joining them as an Autobot) under the condition that the Omega Lock be saved. Megatron is killed and Cybertron revived. Starscream, willingly, allows himself to be imprisoned. The movie happens and Unicron is trying to destroy Cybertron. The Autobots won't let Starscream help so he takes matters into his own hands and breaks free, but instead of trying to run away, he joins in the battle against Unicron. Maybe he dies like his Armada Counterpart, taking one last suicidal shot at Unicron, or maybe he lives to see a new golden age? Who knows.
The real losers are the humans. They were so useless. Starscream should have been spotted on radar long before he attacked and air defense batteries should have activated earlier. I would have loved to see the humans actually pull out a minor victory over the decepticons that wasn't contrived or forced.
Who watches Transformers for humans? Everyone should know that Transformers is for seeing giant shifting robots fight for the fate of their wasteland of a homeworld, not pro military propaganda scrap. *(LOOKING AT YOU LIVE ACTION MOVIES)*
The thing that also bothered me was that for some reason the show tried to make us believe that Jack was the "special' kid. The story began with him, he was the oldest in the group, his mother was the only parent character who discovered that her child is hanging out with robots from space, and most of all, Jack was the one who got the key to Vector Sigma, bcs... Optimus saw how much he have changed..? Which I honestly did not understand. The one human character who actually got more focus on themselves and actually grew was Miko. Raf was just the same for the entire show, but at least he was useful for the story and got an great chemistry with Ratchet. But what is also indicative for me is that if you cut Jack from season 3, pretty much nothing will change. This lack of human characters development really bothered me. We were never told why Raf can understand Bumblebee. We were never told why Miko is so passively aggressive to her host parents. I also was dissapointed by the end of the 2nd season and 3d season bcs human characters just so easily let go the autobots, knowing they might never meet each other again (which RID kidna proves bcs no character from Prime tried to contact or at least talked about their human friends), and the authors are telling me that Miko never even threw a temper tentrum about autobots leaving...? They never talked about this even tho they should have, especially bcs bots been keeping this a secret for some time. So I was expecting this to become a plot line, which, unfortunetly, was kinda thrown into a trash can.
I mean the humans have known how much the autobots missed their home so Miko especially wouldn't want to throw a tantrum like you said she's grown she understands how much this means to the autobots
Imagine Makeshift pretending to be one of the Autobots again, but is only revealed until near the end of the season, pretending to be Arcee, or Smokescreen for example.
It wouldn't work since makeshift cannot be programmed with their personalities or with their memories Example when bulkhead asked him about the certain events of a battle he couldn't accurately answer the questions so it would be a waste of time
They could had made that in some of the Autoscum’s trips to the Nemesis they find Smokescreen’s dead body with a lot of neural implants, and it’s revealed that Smokescreen was always Makeshift since his first appearance, it would be cliche but also a cool way to incorporate Makeshift and not make him a villain of the week
@@thegermanfool8953 Yeah, Makeshift couldn't last long enough to pull a Liquid Snake. He didn't know the bots well enough or the one he's assuming the identity of
@@sulphurous2656 exactly and it's not like he can just magically know everything And that's actually a good thing Because if he could take on the memories and personalities of those he portrays the Autobots would have been decimated long before
Makeshift had to die because he learned the location of the Autobot base. You are correct however, as the writers of the show deemed his abilities as "overpowered". Edit: IIRC, Raf can understand Bumblebee because Bee's beeps and books are a form of binary code.
It seems they could've avoided needing to kill him off by just, not letting the Autobots bring him to their base. Maybe just make it so that the rest of them are paranoid, or OP just wasn't trusting of him.
Which is odd, as even if he was beeping in morse or binary it'd be cypertronian not human, when they saw the schematics on the nemesis while rescuing agent fowler he was like yeah this looks like math but idk what it is (different language)
The point of Skyquake's death was to bring Dreadwing to the cast. But you may forget that Dreadwing is a warrior with a code of honor. He knew that if his brother died, he died serving his faction, and that was that. They are at war, one could hardly expect Dreadwing to want to avenge his brother if Skyquake no longer had to suffer the effects of the war. But when he discovers that Starscream dishonored his brother by turning him into a zombie, then that's different.
I was kinda satisfied with the idea of starscream being mauled by predacons, I honestly thought that starscream realized he couldn’t get rid of Megatron so he stopped trying.
Man when I was a kid I was so upset after Arachnid got send to the moon that she never came back again ... she was such a cool character and they just forgot she was on the moon chilling
18:16 This could potentially be explained. Soundwave remotely activated the space bridge, targeting it at one of Cybertron's moons, and then opened a ground bridge leading directly into the space bridge. The far more powerful space bridge probably isn't bothered by the comparatively puny energy of a ground bridge in its proximity, the way a second ground bridge portal would be. And even if it were, this would trap Airachnid in the shadow zone, which would be an equally desirable outcome for Soundwave.
Personally, I always wondered why season 3 fell short from the first two seasons. Like how do you go from collecting relics and character flashbacks to barely hunting a single beast? At the time, I was so confused I literally went back and re watched season two for the second time just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I know writers like to play off time skips but I feel like even the tiniest bit of plot could have been put there leading into season three, not Shockwave digs in the sand, finds bones then boom! Beast hunters
3:30 Skyquake (sorry if I got the wrong one) perhaps views death as a resting place for warriors (like Valhalla). When Starscream broght him back from the dead, in Skyquake's eyes, he technically robbed him of his brother's right to rest (and perhaps honour), therefore he sees Starscream's actions as far worse than Bee's actions. Perhaps even Skyquake (who has some understanding of honour) thinks of his brother's death as the cost of war. This is my theory.
I'm going to try and theorize that Soundwave kept his ability to create space bridges to himself as they required too much energy out of him for him to do It consistently. If anyone found out that was part of his capabilities, he'd get nagged on about it and treated as if he had an obligation to do this very draining task that he was hiding for this very reason.
I don’t think Dreadwing was mad at the Autobots because it’s a war, casualties happen, and Skyquake’s death was an honorable one, and the autobots respected him enough to bury him, the decepticons say as much. But what Starscream did? Desiccate that death? That’s what pissed Dreadwing off
Yes thats like your brother dies under the command of an annoying 2nd in command who wasnt even chosen to lead. then he take your brothers body out of his grave just to bring him from death to treat him like a play thing to use for himself thats would hurt :(
La parte que mas me enojaría seria que MI PROPIO LÍDER simplemente perdonara a alguien tan débil y traicionero como si me hubieran escupido en tu propia cara y esperan a que no hagas algo prácticamente viendote la cara de tonto. @@golem8209
I was so very confused when Soundwave just started to whip out spacebridges and was like: Wait i thought spacebridges were super hard to make... how My friend had the same reaction
Another area where I feel like TFP really dropped the ball was with trauma, especially with Bumblebee and Smokescreen. We get some overt references with Arcee, and more subtle hints with Ratchet, Starscream, and Knockout, but I feel like the youngsters are WAY too ok given everything that’s happened to them. Bumblebee had his entire capacity for speech taken away from him, and the only time it really comes up is during the Operation Bumblebee episodes. I can imagine time has eased his pain a bit, but still. Smokescreen is the most egregious example, at least in my opinion. Man was betrayed by the closest person he had to a father figure, locked in stasis for longer than Cybertron has been dead, and was physically violated by Knockout in Inside Job. And never once is any of this even MENTIONED. Honestly, I would have loved to see a scene where someone told him just how long he’d been asleep, just to see how he would react. I love his energy, but I can’t help but feel like it sort of spits in the face of his backstory
I've always considered Transformers prime to be the methadone I use to wein people off the heroin that is the live action Transformers movies. I despise how the show kills off cliffjumper right away establishing a level of intensity that was never lived up to again. At least if they had committed to killing bumblebee at the end, there would have been a nice bookend to the series. In retrospect, the pilot feels like "click bait". The autobot cast grew stale fast. Bringing in wheeljack for only 1 episode in season one was torture. When we finally get a new regular in smokescreen, the cast is so fleshed out that there's no new dynamic. In "exodus" it's explained that Trypticon is the Nemesis, however in TFP there's no in show explanation for the personality that is the nemesis. Thank you for addressing the Raf situation with Bumblebee. Imagine if TF animated season 2 ended with Sari discovering she's a machine and then never spoken of again. That's how the Raf situation frustrates me! Also didn't Jack have a love interest? Normally I wouldn't care about such fleshling nonsense but it's odd that so much time was invested into a narrative without a payoff. I like Prime okay but the aligned continuity doesn't even make it into my top 5 TF narratives.
Perhaps those terrifying Vehicons at the beginning were something close to their 'best of the best' Vehicons, but both Megatron and Starscream didn't know they had such effective soldiers in their ranks, thus assigned they were assigned to patrols that were widely outside of the focus of the war. then one of them becomes shadelock in RID.
I’m not real good at the Words Thing, but something that will forever dampen Prime for me is how *little* they cared about interpersonal relationships. Obviously, the autobots love each other, but aside from a select few examples, we don’t actually know how they feel about each other individually. There’s occasionally hints of a dynamic, but we rarely get any in depth exploration. Why were Cliff and Arcee partners if no one else was, especially with Arcee’s preexisting trauma? What is Ratchet’s relationship to Bumblebee? Why does Ratchet never truly blow up at Bulkhead; how did they get to this point? When did they all meet? Why is Bumblebee simultaneously the Baby and also The Forgotten One? Who is most likely to gang up on who? Who has inside jokes? And that’s not even mentioning the Decepticons! How long have KO and Scream known each other? Have Breakdown and Knockout always been a package deal? How did they meet? How did they learn to work with each other? Dreadwing is a Seeker but also a legendary warrior… apparently. So how does that factor into his relationship with Starscream? Why is Megatron Like That and does he care about Soundwave anymore? What’s Soundwave’s opinion on Starscream? He seemed content enough during his 3 year rule! And are there any true friendships in the Decepticons, or are is the environment they’re in too harsh for that? And what about cross faction relationships? How does Bulkhead feel about losing Breakdown? Can Knockout actually relate to any of the autobots other than maybe Ratchet? What’s Megatrons opinion of Ratchet, who he likely knew somewhat intimately before the war through Orion? The characters have so much potential that never gets realized and it’s so frustrating! (And there’s also how they treat Starscreams abuse and Arcees trauma but I’m not going to get into All That right now.) I adore this show, it’s what got me into Transformers in the first place, but my love for the characters paradoxically makes it hard to watch because they just keep missing the mark! (Like! I could buy that Dreadwing is more mad at his brother being raised from the dead than from him being killed, because it was established that he is totally down for an honorable death for The Cause. I don’t buy it because Skuquakes death was not honorable, on both the Decepticon and Autobot sides. PLAY WITH THAT! Bumblebee ripped out his guts! The Decepticons knew that his brother was there and they had done NOTHING! What does Dreadwing think about that? OR! I could have totally bought Knockout being completely neutral towards Breakdowns body, if not his life. Like, show him upset that his partner is dead, but still being down to play with the body because it doesn’t mean anything to him. It makes sense for his character to not really care who’s body is on his table once they’re gone! Just give him some development, make him just a bit more grey! He’s an evil doctor, dammit! The Decepticons would be 100x more interesting if all of their relationships were disguised as hollow, but are actually way deeper. I can totally buy that they’ll turn on each other even if they were friends, so long as they REGRET IT LATER!! Not even for selfless reasons either!! If knockout just had a moment of “oh who will I gossip with now?” after betraying Starscream I could die happy. LET THE DECEPTICONS HAVE COMPLICATED, GREY RELATIONSHIPS, AND BE COMPLICATED, GREY CHARACTERS! ..wow, this is unfocused as fuck. I’m so sorry)
I think the reason why I don’t care much for transformers prime can be best summed up by comparing the series opener to the animated opener. Animated‘s first episode is so smooth, it flows flawlessly and doesn’t waste our time with anything, prime kills off a main character in the first episode and then expects us to care about him seasons later when he’s already dead and the damage of the terrible writing has already been done. Prime also is all over the place in episode one introducing us to so many places things and people it’s such a mess. And while yes prime did eventually find its footing I can’t help but compare the first episode of prime to the first episode of animated, it really says it all.
The biggest things I hate about TFP was wasted story potential and character development. The end of the season when Optimus lost his memory and was kidnapped by Megatron was unbelievable. I couldn't wait to see the next episode. Ratchet reveals that Megatron and Optimus used to be friends, great I love that drama. How's it shown? A few stills of a blue optic Megatron and Optimus talking and then the senate meeting, then bitter enemies forever. I thought they showed this in order to setup Megatron trying to turn Optimus to his side permanently to his side maybe half a season but no he's not interested in that at all and the plot point lasts two episodes only for things to back to normal...why even bother bringing up the friendship backstory if it wasn't important?
The problem with season three is that it's episode count kept going down eventually it was 16 but just as production started it was shortened to 13. The change was so sudden that ratchets VA didn't even know
They talk about this on the DVD commentary. The writers realized how many loose ends they needed to tie up so the finale ended up longer and longer until it was the last four episodes and there is a LOT packed in there.
Guh thank you for pointing these out, I always felt pessimistic about Prime when looking at character developments, now I know why. The ~24 predacons dying bothered me so much, because: (1) I love dragons (2) The season took a lot of time in showing the struggle of fetching the predacon bones (3) Predaking reacted so, so pissed - I liked him for seeming "noble" & (4) Shockwave's development. I have a big suspicion that Shockwave was going to overthrow Megatron. That he knew of Predaking being able to transform at some point but he got dragged around with different tasks that he didn't pay attention to When it'd be likely to happen. Didn't Shockwave experiment with making bots have alternate forms on his backstory? It'd make sense he tried pushing for predacons to transform, or at least, the years he spent creating Predaking, he tried manipulating his CNA to do so. (How would Skylynx and Darksteel know how to transform without Predaking's example? Would be funny to imagine Starscream and Shockwave transforming in front of them trying to get them to do the same lmaoo). Back to the staged death of the predacons...Why would he risk injury in battle, taking a moment to release the premature predacons, leaving quickly thereafter, without any apparent reason to do so? My guess is, he wanted to create a distraction to get away from the battle safely. But we see him shoot before jumping into the ground bridge, giving away his location. My other guess is, he hoped some of them survived. He hoped to tell Predaking about Megatron’s betrayal himself... And use that momentum to get rid of Megatron. Maybe he sees Megatron as a bad leader, wasting resources, taking unnecessary risk, etc. We see Shockwave ask Megatron why Cyberform Earth? Like, why use resources that we can use for revitalizing Cybertron... on another planet? Perhaps Shockwave did have a plan, to get back on the development that is protecting Cybertron. (Shown on Predacons Rising by telling the predacons to help the Autobots). You're right about there being lacking character reactions. Yet I feel like Shockwave was written to do more, but the short time didn't allow for it.
7:16 In my fics, the vehicons are the cold-constructs (also makes more sense than cold-constructs looking different from each other), at the bottom of the caste system, and have always been the majority of the Decepticons and the ones Megatron rallied up in backstory. It'd also explain the Autobots' dehumanization of vehicons.
For Knock Out and Breakdown I always took it as the two of them were driving around the Earth since there was little decepticon activity noticed by the Autobots they weren’t as needed on the ship
I completely agree with what you said about where Starscream ended as a character. I didn't like that he went right back to where he was at the end of Predicons Rising and didn't develop at all. There were hints of him having good in him or at least a sense of honor. I feel like him saving Arcee and freeing her could have been huge for his character growth. There are several times in the show he almost casually talks to the autobots. I'm not saying he had to join the autobots cuz I don't think that would have worked (what with him being the killer of Cliffjumper) but he could have remained rogue but been more on the side of good or at least a gray area. It frustrated me that after everything that happened to him, he didn't change in the slightest. I also agree with what you said about Knockout turning on him in the movie. Apparently being told to shut up was enough for him to switch sides. I'm glad you brought up how nobody talks about anything cuz that bothered me too. Very important things happen and they seem to just kind of move on and never talk about them again. Knockout being unaffected by Breakdowns death was odd. I remember waiting to see KO again so I could see how he reacted and he was his same old self. He seemed very indifferent to Breakdowns death which bugged me. I loved the Decepticons, but I didn't like that they were all like 100% evil all the time with no depth, no friendships, nothing and no one they cared about and no change. I didn't expect Megatron or Soundwave to change but the fact that Starscream, Breakdown and Dreadwing seemed like they were going down that path only for the arcs to be snuffed out, half-baked or entirely thrown away was frustrating. End of rant.
I think they could have used cliffjumper's death to show the humans the threat of the decepticons more. Have him build bonds with the kids until the fith episode were he saves prime from a deadly shot from Megatron, killing him and making the audience feel for the autobots more than 'he was built up to be a main character then they ruined him'. (Also I'm upset that Ironhide wasn't at least mentioned due to him being a prominent character in the games and being one of Optimus' best friends.)
Two things I wanted to mention 1. Dreadwing doesn't hate Prime and Bumblebee for his brother's death probably because he realises it is a war and he would do it in their place too. He is angry at Starscream for desecrating his brother's remains which I can understand. 2. I think good comparission with Vehicons is just like in Star Wars when they appear they are shown as elite force that can take down almost anyone but later for plot convenience they make them weaker when it kinda becomes joke in the outside world and the medium itself.
Yeah the decepticon cast is something RID definitely did better, there were a lot of unique decepticons even if they were just Saturday morning cartoon villains, still nice.
Yeah RID somehow made the decepticons look better then the autobots like if you think about it a majority of don't even try to kill anyone but the autobots just want to arrest them
Ehh, the one thing that I don't like about the RiD villains (specifically Steeljaw) is that they pick Earth to stay on and make their homes, like, there are THOUSANDS of planets to pick and you pick Earth of all places but I'm pretty sure the only reason they did that is because why not
I love this show, but it does suffer these flaws. It is by no means unwatchable (that was siege), but prime’s always considered a perfect transformers show. The 2 points I see as the biggest flaws were the decepticon’s characterizations & use and the unresolved plot points(why can Raf talk to bumblebee; arachnid, etc.)To fix these problems I would’ve done this: 1. Make the decepticons & the autobots talk more about things in the show. That way all the characters get more personality and could lead to decepticons like Breakdown & Starscream getting different endings. 2. Makeshift: I would’ve made Makeshift survive the bomb and become Starscream’s version of Soundwave, only not mute. Meanwhile, Breakdown would start to question his loyalty to Megatron and him , bulkhead, & Makeshift could even become friends because of this. When Breakdown goes with Dreadwing to kill airachnid, he instead tries to save her, but she still kills him, however Makeshift followed them and we’d get a fight between them where Makeshift calls the autobots & starscream for help. Arriving at the same time, both sides would be confused and angry, until they saw both Makeshift & Breakdown in pieces, on the verge of death. They’d both say that they’re sorry for their actions in the past and that they never became allies, before returning to the allspark. This could’ve progressed everyone significantly: the autobots would be less violent to decepticons, and stascream & knockout could’ve even joined the autobots to honor them. 3. Airachnid: I think she should’ve been transported to our moon instead of cybertrons. That way, in RID 2015, we could get an airachnid arch were she tries to turn all cybertronians into her undead subjects. You could even bring Blackarachnia as her sister wanting to stop her. 4 Raf: honestly, I got nothing. I never found how he was the only person to understand him. Maybe his ancestors have a history with cybertronians, maybe he’s part alien and he doesn’t. I seriously have no clue in this part.
I loved Prime because of StarScream and hated at the same time, there where so mean to him and he was such an amazing character, I agree it would have been amazing to see those who fallowed Magatron start to take StarScreams side.
And one thing I noticed is that MECH knew were Jack and his mother were living. So why did they not go back and kidnap him to get information about the Autobots? And Airachnid also knew were they live. And why didn't she take them too to get information were the the Autobot base was located? Also one thing that really disappointed me was when MECH was thrown out of the show, they were really interesting and cool. And I want to know more about these guys. There were not that many agents at the place when SIlas became C.Y.L.A.S so we can hope they are still out there.
Vehicons and insecticons are like video games. I think it’s like a video game at least. Whenever you encounter a new enemy it’s usually extra powerful. Then once you defeat it it becomes a regular enemy.
12:21 If anyone is aware of the 2015 RID series, Starscream survived the Predacons’ wrath by “accidentally” obliterating them. Now, he hides in the shadows, collecting minicons to upgrade himself to get even with Megatron for all the abuse he had to endure and take over Cybertron. Yeah, I would ignore 2015 RID as well.
So, you would have liked to see Makeshift as a "Double-Trouble" character... I would have loved that! Maybe a little less sassy, to avoid crossing over Knock-Out.
You wanna know a concept I would've enjoyed? Breakdown becoming and Autobot, he and Bulkhead working together, that would've been the sickest thing in the show if you ask me!
To your point on Dreadwing being more angry about Skyquake as a zombie rather than death from the Autobots, I think it makes sense. Both Dreadwing and Skyquake are bound to honor, duty, and loyalty. Dreadwing is one to know how to fight as an honorable warrior, and at various points is willing to keep his word or show respect: refer to after megatron is weakened after the first insecticon and his interaction with Optimus for the Apex Armor. More importantly, I think they both understand that dying in war at the hand of the enemy can be expected. Both of them knew the risks and I’m sure they understand this could have happened. Dreadwing is angry for the loss of Skyquake, but he’s able to keep it in check because he knows this is war. And while it may not look it, I’m sure he knew that the way Skyquake perished could be respectable to an extend. Really he is mad at the Autobots for killing him but understands and accepts it better than his brother at least went down honorably in combat, or at least saw it that way. He’s angry at starscream because starscream desecrated that honor. Instead of leaving Skyquake to rest, he rose him from the dead as a disturbing zombie. To Dreadwing, denying his brother who died in battle peaceful rest is worse than him dying, because now his brother is no more. His story ends with him forever walking the shadow realm for his limb. The Autobots may have killed his brother, but Dreadwing acts as he does to starscream because he desecrated his brother, reducing him to a monster. This exchange from Regeneration sums it up: Starscream: Causalities are an unfortunate consequence of war. But I assure you, your twin met his end with great honor! Dreadwing: WHICH YOU DISGRACED! BY RAISING HIM FROM THE DEAD!!
I love Transformers. It's one of my favorite franchises, but all the animated series have weaknesses along with strengths. Things feel rushed, added in and removed mostly because of Hasbro trying to advertise the toys.
It always bothered me when neither Skyquake nor Airachnid had a different form before taking on an alternate mode. Skyquake has a clear Earth mode, and Airachnid doesn't take on any helicopter features at all. Take on a *new* alt mode, I love that, but they aren't protoforms.
@@primordialbias8711 Skyquake is understandable because he took on a new one almost immediately, but they totally would've gotten their money's worth with a new model for Airachnid.
@@ParadoxFree I just look at it like Airachnid's using her spider legs for the rotor of her alt mode since it doesn't even really resemble the one she scanned and theoretically, the alt mode doesn't have to be a copy of the thing being scanned. The rest of it doesn't seem too different from her bot mode.
24:14 Too be fair, Beast is singular, and Hunters is plural. That one is on us for having high hopes for something that's clearly telling us that there are multiple hunters, and only one beast. ☹😔 Too bad it wasn't Beasts Hunters.
He could send them to the moon because the ship was not even right on earth and they explained that ground bridging like that is only dangerous for the thing that gos through
ALL OF THIS! I love Transformers Prime, but these were all points me and a college friend I was watching the show with back when it first aired complained about. It was a show if cool concepts that never got explored and a lot of list potential in the characters, their growth, and the narrative as a whole. Still love the show, but it gets so frustrating seeing all the lost potential that made the series inherently weaker.
Glad to see you're not one of those Prime fans that mindlessly defends the show with every fiber of their being. Hell, I love Prime. It's right up there with Bayverse as one of my favorite versions of Transformers. But do I dare read Prime comment sections… My God Everyone in this fandom hates eachother apparently. Everyone should be able to like whatever they like, after all, freedom is everyone's right.
I noticed most of these problems except the decepticons. I actually thought they were pretty great. Like, they were developed enough. I agree with the starscream and arcee. But I still love this show. It has flaws but it'll always be my favourite tf show and always be one of the closest things to my heart
One person made a fanfic about how there was a mass mutany and Megatron had all these names decepticons rebuilt into vehicons and for the combaticons it’s explained how they’re elite hunters tasked with hunting down every autobot in the galaxy
I think that, in the movie, they should’ve swapped the rules of Starscream and knock out, and made Starscream the one that joined the Autobots. Although, that one at the end where Starscream wanted to rebuild the Decepticons was kind of cool. But, I would’ve happily given up that line for a Starscream vs. Unicron Battle.
I've definitely come around to liking this show, but the problems mentioned here (as well as a few others) really stop me from loving it. I'm glad everyone else loves it, but I think I've realized it's just not my thing. (Knockout is awesome tho. He's a king.)
20:00 I will say that this is a common “human” phenomenon where people don’t use a valuable weapon because they are afraid the weapon will get damaged or destroyed and then they won’t have it when they need it. Two good examples would be the British and German Navies of WW1, and Napoleon and his Imperial Guard. Despite both of them being extremely valuable, they were rarely used because the people that controlled them feared their loss greater than their benefit.
Sky quake was the biggest issue for me. A character with an awesome name finally gets his on screen debut and he’s killed minutes later. He would’ve added some serious muscle to the cons and made starscream a little more careful. Imagine having both the seeker brothers fighting together. Massive threat but no. Wasted
TFP WRITES BE LIKE giving Decepticons some development: meh screw every attempt to be better people by making them "hatable" or killing them: LET'S A GO!
In my headcannon, Breakdown never died. And both breakdown and knockout, get a Redemption arc. A lot sooner, than the movie. Sari from Transformers Animated, is in my au headcannon.
Only 9 minutes but in but I think one of Prime's biggest issues was that it took a very status quo approach. Like there's build up or introduction to really new and interesting things only to have them amount to nothing in either the very episode we first see them(Makeshift and Skyquake) or several episodes later(Breakdown, the Predacon clones on Earth). Edit: Near the end of the video and I would say how the Predacons were handled was my biggest dissapointment with Prime. I was really looking forward to seeing all these new Predacons thanks to the buildup of the first half of Season 3 with the fossil hunt, heck they could've been used to bring in the Dinobots.
In Dreadwing's defense. Dreadwing and he's twin Skyquake have always seemed (at least to me) like honourable warriors similar to the ancient Samurai. Tus Dreadwing most likely considered Skyquake's death as honourable because he had died in battle. Although I do believe Dreadwing should have put more effort into avenging his brother, yet I don't believe he would freak out in a similar fashion to how he freaks out towards Scream who desecrated his brother's grave and dishonored his death by bringing him back from the dead.
When I was playing with my Transformers I made an idea for Makeshift. He was a Decepticon that had been with the Autobots for years. He was so deep undercover and into Autobot ranks nobody ever suspected him not even once. He was Transformers 3 Topspin. He was assigned by Megatron during the early years of the war to infiltrate the Autobot ranks and cripple their plans. Makeshift did above and beyond what he was told and was able to become a wrecker and saved many Autobots to strengthen their trust in him. Tis why everyone was hoping it was a sick joke or a plan of Optimus once it was discovered that Topspin was the Decepticon spy. He went on a few more months but was killed in battle.
Sorry if I offend you but in confused about your gender are a she/her or a he/him ?
I can think of one plausible explanation:
Tracking someones location and reading their life signs are different, they don’t need to know where he is to know his condition.
@@happyboy6548 Emperor Kumquat is a she.
Makeshift is like that monster of the week that gets defeated after their debut and is never mentioned again.
Makeshift is just a Power Rangers' villain
@@ispepsiokay411 I guess but even power rangers had episodes where the monster of the week came back like that Ninja Steel episode “Grave Robber”
@@candleman7457 I feel like in a monster of a week show monster dying isn’t that much of a tactical loss. because the main bad guy has basically a endless amount of other people with powers
Edit: also your Power Rangers reference I know makeshift could’ve been too over powered if he was left alive in the show.
Like every scooby do episode?
Hence the name
Starscream: “Does it not bother you that you employ your experiments with your fallen partner?”
Knockout, for some god damn reason: “Not Really.”
Knockout fr deserved some better writing and depth to his character after Breakdown’s death
He cares that Starscream defaced his fallen twin's honor, especially by involving him in devil magicks that act as a defiance to Primus.
that is quite a good point
Sounds right
In Dreadwing's perspective Skyquake perished honorably facing the opposing faction's leader but then some certain winged punk came and not only desecrated his twins graveyard MF turned his twin into a purple drug zombie.
he knows it's war just like starscream doesn't hold a grudge against the Autobots despite them blowing off a few of his limbs
@@nonamesorry7135 Did you miss Arcee's arc? Or Wheeljack learning to trust others?

And of course, the biggest one for me is Dreadwing seeing past the fog of loyalty and developing his respect for Optimus
One of the worst episodes to demonstrate how inconsistent the vehicons strength is has to be the dingus episode where the autobots are transporting the nuclear device.
Knockout joining the bots was an awful idea anyways.

I to also feel mindless when watching shows.
Same bro
This I actually agree, breakdown had so much potential
"It was insanely illogical that Skyquake couldn't fly"
Ok Shockwave.
Theory: Shockwave wrote that part

Oh but then you mentioned how he could've perfered Starscream as the Leader, guess he won't be Soundwave's homie no more lmfaoaooa
Makeshift deserved better smh
There really is such a list of possibilities they could have done with Makeshift. We could've had such a fleshed out and intriguing character!
I mean his role in story was done and he would be really useless with soundwave already being a spy and eavesdropper, also budget restraints and probably toy designs as well.
Secret homie sounds amazing 😂👌🏽
I'd like to think he was engineered by Shockwave as a gift for Soundwave who took him as a protoge.
9:19 Actually in the show, Starscream mentions to Optimus that he saved Arcee, in one of the relic hunt episodes. So yeah they know he spared her.
Also TFP flaws can be summed up in two words: Plot holes.
Yes, I said it was mentioned, but never rewarded because Optimus accused Starscream of doing it for self-gain
@@emperorkumquat Ahh okay, I missed that part when you said that. My bad.
I would chalk it up to bad writing
Remember in the episode Metal Attraction when Airachnid and Breakdown were practically both unconscious, stuck together, unable to transform and Arcee just says 'let's leave em' after Bulkhead suggests finishing them off? That was the biggest head-scratcher for me because that was Arcee's perfect chance to kill Airachnid and she didn't even take it. This episode also happened BEFORE the episode Partners, so it's not like you can even argue Arcee's motivation had dwindled by this point.
Oh my God that is true.
Bumblebee: *rips Skyquake's organs out for being a nuisance*
Bumblebee, several episodes later: "Kiwwing is wwong"
Literally
Starscream was a prisoner, Skyquake was a combatant.
@@HOLDENPOPE Even as a combatant, you can just immobilise the enemy or restrain them, instead of killing them outright
@@DrCocofruit And how precisely are you proposing they immobilize and restrain a bot that could go toe to toe with Optimus and probably Megatron?
I'm more concerned about how easy it was for bumblebee for rip out the guy's guts
Like he didn't even had a knife or something to cut through the skin
No it just 2 punches are the equivalent of someone with a chainsaw to cut through it and boom ded
I agree with
I agree with you
But this is why you put explanations into scripts or work around.
6:55 I just noticed arcee's little wings are missing.
Let me know
I think so, after a while they probably finished resources, and died
It is shown on the moon that Arachnid is mind controlling the infected insecticons to approach her,, one by one, like moths to a flame, so she can feed from them. But yeah. Un addressed plot hole.
And speaking of eventually starving: Soundwave left in the Shadow Zone!!!
@@brookerickettson4950 wasnt soundwave being left in the shadow zone a plot point in RID 2015? havent watched the show so idk for sure
@@ratfarmer1 yeh he came back tho i didn't watch much of the show and thought it wasn't very good from the first 1 or 2 seasons
Please!

I wish instead of getting RiD15, we got a sort of “prequel” show/movie, with everything that happened BEFORE Transformers Prime.
Absolutely. I still think TFP is one of the best TF shows we've gotten in a long time. Probably best we'll get in a while
To me being a fan doesn’t mean loving every single thing about what you’re a fan of. It means loving it and still acknowledging its flaws and offer constructive criticism as long as it's not toxic. Nothing in life is perfect, fiction is no exception. There’s always room for improvement.
Truly loving something or someone means accepting the flaws. Otherwise, it's not love - but only blind admiration.
You could have the insecticons and vehicons be consistently strong and not pathetically easy to defeat, but over time, as the auto bots collect relics they are able to stand up to them more easily so that they actually stand a chance against the deception army without nerfing it.
the thing that bugs me is Starscream gloating about cliffjumper like he never had killed an autobot before.

I wonder if Season 3 wasn't cut short, that someone would finally mention on-screen on what they thought happened to Dreadwing among other absent or offline bots.
I think what annoys me the most about skyquake's death is how unceremonious it is after his build up earlier in the episode

Rewrite of Starscream's arc, a way to combine elements from G1 and Armada:
In the three years Megatron is not leading, it is not Starscream who leads but someone else.
Who knows.

Agreed.
TFP is one of my favourites, but it definitely has issues.
It wouldn't work since makeshift cannot be programmed with their personalities or with their memories
Example when bulkhead asked him about the certain events of a battle he couldn't accurately answer the questions so it would be a waste of time
They could had made that in some of the Autoscum’s trips to the Nemesis they find Smokescreen’s dead body with a lot of neural implants, and it’s revealed that Smokescreen was always Makeshift since his first appearance, it would be cliche but also a cool way to incorporate Makeshift and not make him a villain of the week

I think they may have planned to make Raf a technorganic like Sari but scrapped the plot because it’d be a retread
Raf says in ep1 or 2 that he doesn't know how he can understand him, he just does.

Skyqauke and dreadwing I think had so much potential then they die so easily...
Except we have no evidence that Soundwave ever knew about the Shadowzone (before, y'know, his firsthand experience )
@@longshot9757 I think you misunderstood their point.

Skyquake (sorry if I got the wrong one) perhaps views death as a resting place for warriors (like Valhalla).
Soundwave had remote access to the ships ground bridge that he could access from anywhere on earth and open one
Love this !

18:47 Soundwave is the powerhouse of the decepticon cause, thats the reason why he can open space bridges XD
I was so very confused when Soundwave just started to whip out spacebridges and was like:
Wait i thought spacebridges were super hard to make... how
My friend had the same reaction
Prime is its separate thing, really, it has very little to do with Aligned Continuity, it was just a marketing thing from Hasbro.
I feel like people need to gather money and make a Prime remake tbh. This show had so much potential
Yes, prime needs a reboot!
It showed how far they have drifted from friends to bitter enemies. Also the whole point of it was used for the relics plot
You've just read my mind in 762 ways
The problem with season three is that it's episode count kept going down eventually it was 16 but just as production started it was shortened to 13. The change was so sudden that ratchets VA didn't even know
They talk about this on the DVD commentary. The writers realized how many loose ends they needed to tie up so the finale ended up longer and longer until it was the last four episodes and there is a LOT packed in there.
Guh thank you for pointing these out, I always felt pessimistic about Prime when looking at character developments, now I know why.
The ~24 predacons dying bothered me so much, because:
(1) I love dragons
(2) The season took a lot of time in showing the struggle of fetching the predacon bones
(3) Predaking reacted so, so pissed - I liked him for seeming "noble" &
(4) Shockwave's development.

In my fics, the vehicons are the cold-constructs (also makes more sense than cold-constructs looking different from each other), at the bottom of the caste system, and have always been the majority of the Decepticons and the ones Megatron rallied up in backstory. It'd also explain the Autobots' dehumanization of vehicons.
Thirst: Why didn't Starscream just shoot terrorcon!cylas!Breakdown like he did the terrorcon!Vehicon?
Two things I wanted to mention
Yeah, I loved the way they did that
Yeah RID somehow made the decepticons look better then the autobots like if you think about it a majority of don't even try to kill anyone but the autobots just want to arrest them
@@blueink-2230 there criminals who committed crimes on cybertron. It the autobots job.
@@CozymfDQ320 fair enough but it looks like there's no chance for, rebuilatation just stasis lock for everyone
The 2 points I see as the biggest flaws were the decepticon’s characterizations & use and the unresolved plot points(why can Raf talk to bumblebee; arachnid, etc.)To fix these problems I would’ve done this:
For Raf I think that, since he is a computer genius, he can understand Bumblebee because he speaks in binary.
It is a stupid reason, but that's the only one I can come up with. Or maybe he is just really good at reading Bumblebee's emotions
Had these plot holes and production issues not been there, this would have been such a masterpiece.
RiD 2015 doesn’t *deserve* to be in the same canon as Prime! At least we can take comfort in that it’s long since ended!
So, you would have liked to see Makeshift as a "Double-Trouble" character... I would have loved that!
Maybe a little less sassy, to avoid crossing over Knock-Out.
I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING ABOUT STARSCREAM. I was so ready for a redemption 😭
This exchange from Regeneration sums it up:
Starscream: Causalities are an unfortunate consequence of war.
Thats how they make more for the shows though
It is fucking stupid and not a valid excuse. It is that sort of BS that killed Transformers Animated
It always bothered me when neither Skyquake nor Airachnid had a different form before taking on an alternate mode. Skyquake has a clear Earth mode, and Airachnid doesn't take on any helicopter features at all.
Take on a *new* alt mode, I love that, but they aren't protoforms.
Budgetary reasons, most likely.

Too be fair, Beast is singular, and Hunters is plural.
Wasted
the aligned lore is just so much more interesting and relatable to me.
Plot holes you say?
*Cracks knuckles*
Time to "fix it": Proceeds to write like crazy
TFP WRITES BE LIKE
giving Decepticons some development: meh
screw every attempt to be better people by making them "hatable" or killing them: LET'S A GO!
