The companies who employ these people are ultimately to blame, because they do virtually no training of their staff. I've never seen any evidence of them doing any training. It's like "wear a high vis, and get on with it."
Next time they threaten to shoot down the drone you should inform them that discharging a firearm on private property where the projectile might leave the private property is illegal under the firearms act and carries a heavy penalty. This not only covers firearms but also air rifles.
He should probably inform them that he isn't allowed to film private property from a drone first, and then move on. The police are well within their rights to confiscate the drone if he films private property without consent, and hopefully they soon will.
