Thank you for this informative video. I was trying to edit a children's picture book in MS Word and I was running into endless problems as a newbie to both the Word program and to book writing and formatting. Hi Bethany, thank you for the important info you are sharing , my 9 year old daughter wrote her first kids book and I helped her to get an illustration done by a guy on fiver , his price was too much for a full color and was hoping if you have some resources on that area so I can help her finish her book.

Hi Bethany, thanks for this video! I published my ebook (I used the kids book creator) and it is perfect except for when I turn my phone to landscape orientation the kindle app has trouble loading complete spreads... did you run into this issue?

Hi, for paperback of my book, I added extra bleed area around the actual trim size. If I want to make an e-book version, do I need to crop the bleed area out?
FAQ: Yes, this tutorial is still accurate. As of August 1st, 2021 KDP is NOT accepting reflowable MOBI files. This tutorial is for a fixed ebook and KDP is still accepting MOBI fixed ebooks.

Honestly, I'm not sure, as I'm not familiar with using a chromebook, but I'd give it a shot to see if it will download! If not, you may have to check computer requirements for the program or check with KDP Support for further assistance. Best of luck with your book!
Hi,
Can you tell me why my ebook is not appearing to full width in tablet mode in kindle previewer? There are blank white space at both left and right side of each screen. Do I have to keep any width to height ratio or specific size while creating the pdf (I am importing from pdf in Kindle Kids Creator)?

Thank you so much for this! Do you have a video on illustrations/images and pixelation? I uploaded in the Kindle Kids Book Creator as per your video and now my images look like pixelated and not very fine/clear.
Hm. That is odd. If your images are not pixelated upon export or in a previewer, sometimes KDP will show blurry images in the previewer, and you may be okay. However if it is showing pixelated, when you export your PDF make sure you are exporting in a high-res and there isn't a strange compression happening in the meantime. I hope it helps!
hello, the spread doesnt fill up the whole kindle screen when i saw preview of it. what size would fill whole kindle instead of whites at the top and bottom?

Hi! Great video! Please can you tell me if we can still use Kindle Kids' Book Creator to format ebooks for KDP since they don't accept MOBI files from 1 august? I wanted to make a change in my ebook but I couldn't upload new corrected manuscrypt. I don't know what to do with that... An advice would be acpreciated!
I just updated an eBook with KKBC earlier this week and it worked. MOBI files are still accepted for fixed ebooks, however they no longer work for reflowable. This tutorial is for a fixed ebook so it will work!

Hi Bethani! Thanks for the helpful content! I came across an issue, the text on the ebook came out missed up for some reason, some of the lettera overlapped and some of the spaces between the words disappeared. Any ideas what that might be?

Check your export on your PDF and ensure your text is in a fixed format before uploading as if it is reflowable it can sometimes get a little funky between the two stages of exporting and formatting.
Do you put your back cover page as the last page in your book file, since it is not attached with the main front cover? Thank you for this efficient tutorial 💖
No, I personally do not. With eBooks, I leave off the back cover and it ends with the last page of the book.

Thanks. I am in this phase w/ my kids book. Did you add your back cover to KKBC also? And so, once your book is on KDP is it just for Kindle or can it be printed from there too?
I do not personally add a back cover in KKBC. KDP can print books, but it will be from a separate file from your ebook.

If you set it up as a pre-order, yes, you can always move it to release sooner.

I am struggling with one thing. Where are the settings for printed book size? I want it in a certain size, but I see no option for this. Any ideas, thank you :)

Hi, on Launch Previewer, a dark shadow appears in some of images...is this something you have encountered before?
I haven't... maybe try exporting it and seeing if they are still there? And always check the source file just incase something strange happened when exporting the PDF.
Hi Bethany, do you know why Kindle does not allow punctuation in my book title? I have a question mark in the title of my book and it's telling me that character has been removed, but I need it in there. Any thoughts?
I don't - I haven't run into that since my book titles haven't had punctuation up until this point. The title of the book (with the correct title) will still show on the listing on Amazon, but perhaps actual Kindle library doesn't allow special characters. It may be worth reaching out to KDP for help or clarification.

Help me out here, I read that the Kindle cannot display color. So how can we publish a full color children’s book to be read on the Kindle?
There are some models that do have color (while you are correct, many don't), and users can also read on their PC with Kindle Cloud Reader or on their phones/tablets with the free Kindle app so there are a handful of options for them to see it in color. The people who are going to be searching for Children's eBooks will likely have a device that they can read it on. I hope that helps! 😊

Can these books be printed out when they're completed as well?
You could print the .PDF file, but for publishing in a bound book you'd want to upload it as a paperback to KDP and order it that way to have a physical copy. I hope that makes sense! But the same interior will work for both versions.
@@BethanyStahl I’m taking an Early Childhood Education course and I’m creating a children’s book for an assignment. I would need to have it printed out to be able to read it to the class. Is that be possible with this program? in others words I don’t need to publish a book I’d just like to create one and print it out :)
@@typicaltayla2415 Gotcha! So no, this wouldn't be the way to go about it. I'd recommend creating your book in either Adobe InDesign (th-cam.com/video/SKuqNWYIQPg/w-d-xo.html) or Affinity Publisher (a program that allows you format text and illustrations together) and then exporting and printing it as a .PDF file which you can do on computer paper (either at home or a print shop) and have as a mock-up without actually having to publish for class. I think that is the best option I can think of! Good luck with your class!
