I don't think any song from this album is underrated. This album ruled the world for more than a year. I remember Saturdays in the summer of 1985 after this came out. It was almost all we listened to. I was 11 and it's what I listened to. My Dad bought the record and listened to it over and over. At the pool the high school aged lifeguards played it on repeat. It was literally on top of the world.
Such a stellar band, the likes of which we just don't see anymore. Between Thompson's drumming, Stuermer's thrilling electric guitar, Collins' vocals, background singers, Sklar's effortless bass, fantastic horn section, keyboards....still ranks as one of the best live performances ever. Hands down.Thank you, Mr. Collins and Company, for gracing us mortals with such brilliance. Stuff of dreams.
I was at this concert with my then girlfriend Angelica from Gutersloh. It was an amazing concert, I remember this song and especially take me home at the end, the emotion in the air generated by Phil was amazing plus that period in German history felt like life was amazing. But having said that I did not fully appreciate how good Phil and his band was and how lucky I was to see them. I also did not realise how lucky I was to be with Angelica at that time. We parted that year and I’ve often thought of her and I only hope life has been kind to her. I still feel like she is sat next to me when I watch this video. I still love you in that moment Angelica and it appears I always will. I hope you are happy somewhere out there ❤
Phil Collins is one of the best song writers we have ever produced. Those who think otherwise must be ignorant to that fact. You don't get to build a band of musicians and backing singers like this unless you've earned respect from these people and your peers. Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel, Pete Townshend, Anni Frid, Quincy Jones and many more have asked and worked with Mr Collins over the years. This live version of this underrated album song but big fan liked song goes to show how tight and sublime his music and performances are. I'd like to think the big artists and producers of today (Mark Ronson, Adele, Rick Rubin, Lady Gaga, Nile Rodgers, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran) know how influential Phil Collins' music has been ❤️✌️
Not bad for an artist that did not have an original propensity to be a lead singer; A friend of mine saw Genesis at Grand Valley St. (Michigan's Ottawa County) in the mid 70s, Phil was the unknown drummer.
What about sklars bass fills? Us bass players miss the credit yet again.I thought that was a thing of the past now the electric bass has stepped up the front for many years ie Mark king etc.
Chester Thompson is a beast. His drumming on Driving the Last Spike live at Knebworth is one for the ages. Of course he was playing Collins part bur still.
Jeff Conway Agreed. I bought the album just for this song. All the other songs are bonuses, but this then "take me home" as a 1 - 2 punch? Yeah... They had to of had a premonition that the b-side was gonna be the side most heavily spun.
Very very underrated tune. Phil been fighting many battles medically recent years. God bless you, wrapping his hands, healing hands sir .. legend, good soul.
A pesar de que en genesisnsu trabajo como musico de show es infravalorado por el trabajo eso no desvaloriza su esfuerzo, para mi steve como daryl tiene el mismo respeto son distincion del uno del otro
I’m getting my first Fender for Christmas (total beginner) & the great Angus Young (AC/DC) & Daryl Stuermer are the 2 guitar geniuses who are my inspiration
At 5:01-5:03 the look on Phil’s face gets me every time. Yes Daryl is mine, yes he’s playing his ASS off, and no…he never misses a note. Now throw in Chester accenting the solo and it’s pure magic. Hence the “musician to musician” moment of Phil and Leland grinning at the power Daryl is unleashing. Pure magic
This concert on dvd is incredibly tight. Thompson,Sklar,Stuermer are super musicians. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched my copy. All camera angles several times. It’s a must see if any of you haven’t.
This song always gives me chills. It's 5 am. in Glen Ellyn illinois where i live. Reminds me of LOVE. I'm BLASTING THIS RIGHT NOW. Baby you got me inside out.
This is one of the best drum songs of all time. I liked that he stuck with the same musicians on a lot of his tours, Daryl and Chester almost always toured with him when he toured with Genesis or solo. They were also in Brand X.
Just getting into Phil Collins and Genesis, it's like a brand new universe. Anything I should check out to get started? Can't stop listening to this one
Phil's early 1st solo album is great. If you haven't already, check out I Don't Care Anymore and Like China. Great songs! Genesis live The Way We Walk, has many great hits. Listen to Driving The Last Spike....great historical story of the railroads being built.......
easily one of his best, even though it wasn't released as a single it made it to number 9 on the rock charts. Musically, top ten songs of his. love the Sax and guitar solo and of course the drums.
Everyone has their peak... here's one. I hope he enjoyed every second of it! Getting older is a set of other challenges, young ... its all handed to you! If you are young reading this and feel down about something, STOP IT! Get up off ass and get out THERE and LIVE!! GO!!!!!!!
Wow, this is a GREAT live version. I'm someone who tends to be underwhelmed by live renditions because they are modified and don't fit my image of the original album version, but this one sounds great.
This is what I call Rock & Roll with a hefty dose of "Precision Soul" and a tincture of "Bad Ass Groove" to round it all out. My favorite spot starts at 3:32
Anybody inside out still listening to this jam October 2024.
One of my favorites. Who's watching still in 2022?!?!
I do, watching this great document, but today is march 12 2024. 😉👍
My favorite Phil Collins song, it feels so underrated
Mine as well. I love this song. The guitar solo at the end is a masterpiece.
@@BinkyTheGoddessDivine yes it really is.!!!

Every word is 💯 on the nose. What a band and what a song.

Simply the Best live version of this song ever

I love the look on Phil's face at 5:01. You know he's thinking; these guys are killing it, and damn I wish I could be drumming to this jam!
I caught that too....that look..what a moment.
Awesome collection of musicians..Phil Collins is not appreciated enough..great performance
Yes, Leland Bruce "Lee" Sklar is no slouch on Bass either. He got his break when he met James Taylor in SOCAL. upteen years ago.
Not appreciated enough? He's one of the most popular and best-selling artists ever, like Top 3
@@Abr022575 haha yes, I was going to write that.
One of my favourite guitar solos of all time!
agreed 100%
Nice to see I'm not the only one who appreciates the world's most under-rated guitarist!
Literally the spirit flying free
Stuermer is great as were all band
Joe B plays his own gigs and supporting PC on his tour. DS is such a legendary guitarist.
Lee Sklar is truly a great bassist.... I aspire to play as well as him, amazing groove.

No jacket required in one of the most underrated pop albums ever
Good lord this is so satisfying to hear after so many years. I don't know why I let decades pass without listening to this album again.
The last minute of Stuermer and Thompson is simply incredible!
What about sklars bass fills? Us bass players miss the credit yet again.I thought that was a thing of the past now the electric bass has stepped up the front for many years ie Mark king etc.
@@carbonbodyworker Leland Sklar was and still is fantastic. I follow his TH-cam Channel. Very tasteful bass player!.
face melting amazing
...pure GENESIS' LIVE ENERGY!!
One for the ages.
Embarrassingly good. One of the finest live bands of all time.
That GUITAR is UNREAL!!!!
When the live performance sounds better than the record.
Love Phil's little smile as Leland and Daryl tear it up at the end of the song. Great stuff!
Chester Thompson is a beast. His drumming on Driving the Last Spike live at Knebworth is one for the ages. Of course he was playing Collins part bur still.
Probably the most overlooked song on "No Jacket Required." One of the top 3 I think though.
Jeff Conway Agreed. I bought the album just for this song. All the other songs are bonuses, but this then "take me home" as a 1 - 2 punch? Yeah... They had to of had a premonition that the b-side was gonna be the side most heavily spun.
Chester kicks arse on this version and Daryl's solo is audio gold.
Very very underrated tune. Phil been fighting many battles medically recent years. God bless you, wrapping his hands, healing hands sir .. legend, good soul.
Ja lieber Phil war dabei war super Konzert einfach super danke ❤❤❤❤❤
For me this was Phil Collins's best tour!
Stuermer is one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
kingcrimson234 say that again. What a legend he is!

thank goodness for youtube, so we can see this treasure
Of all the concerts. I truly wish I had been there.
Nice sax solo, but behind it if you listen closely is the beautiful, melodic, soaring bass work of Leyland Sklar. Outstanding.

Killer drums, killer guitar. Amazing prrformance
Amazing band performance
I dig Lee Sklar's little dance shimmy! Top shelf players on stage for sure!
A bunch of folks who REALLY know what they're doing. Great band assembly by Mr. Collins.
Nobody does it anymore like Phil!
Would just like to give big love to the backing singers on this, their melodies are just sublime ❤👏
One of the best summers of my life.
For me, the best song of Phil
Daryl and Chester tearing it up.
Damn release this as a single it would smash it . The playing on this was beyond perfect. If you don't like this you must be dead inside.
I saw them in Atlanta once. As I watched I noticed the bassist was someone I passed in the mall earlier in the day. Wonderful concert!
That guitar solo rocks!!!!!
Man, would I love to go to a live concert again...this one will do!!
Me too ,see you there!!
This is one of the best drum songs of all time. I liked that he stuck with the same musicians on a lot of his tours, Daryl and Chester almost always toured with him when he toured with Genesis or solo. They were also in Brand X.
As far as band performances go, that was unreal. Daryl, Chester and Phil all smashing it, with Sklar in the background grooving it.
Love this song.
Never wanna feel that way again, though 🙏
Haha! Many a great thing said about that guitar solo, all of which I agree, and the ending of the song is like a mic-drop moment. Wonderful.
The Drums & Guitar work on this: A+
Insanely Tight, First Rate Band overall.
Daryl. Chester. Incredible.
DEAR PHIL AND BAND CANT THANK YOU ENUFF THE SOUND OF MY 20"S THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS PHIL................THANKS SOO MUCH
Just getting into Phil Collins and Genesis, it's like a brand new universe. Anything I should check out to get started? Can't stop listening to this one
Hand in hand from same concert. Genesis abacab live at Wembley 1987.

Phil smiling while Daryl and Chester working hard.
Lee is so good here. The whole band, incredible.
Still watching December 15th 2017 I'm a drummer at heart but Mr Darrell Rip's the guitar up at the end of this most excellent song.
Damn what a solo...wow!

A master piece
Rippin' performance from everyone on that stage. Backup vocals kick serious ass too.
Only legends on that stage

YES! The best (one of the best) guitar solos EVER! Shredding guitar solo, perfectly hand in hand with Chesters drumming! Ohh,, Yaa

I know exactly what this song is about. I love this song.
This is talent, and these are entertainers. Unfortunately, what we have now is rap crap and autotune and BS.
Next time you see a 65 year old remember, it they were at this show, they were 25 years old in that audience.
great Performance
O solo de guitarra é algo indescritível!
I went to the this but serious tour concert at Wembley arena
I ended up in Birmingham, brilliant night

#FUCKINGMASTERPIECE 🤘🏼🤘🏽🤘🏿🤘🏾🤘
Great tune, quite evocative of Genesis from the same period.
In My next life I'm coming back as Lee Sklar
The bass player is like in a boatload of live performance videos, for a number of popular 80/90 hit bands
J PR Leland Skylar. Legend
He has his own youtube channel that is really great.
God bless Phil, I'm worried about him these days. Chester Thompson always on point, Lee Sklar holding it down as always! Stuermer amazing as always ❤️
Tight link up at 4:55. That’s where Phil’s smile comes
Chester the machine 👍👏👏👏👏👏
phil just smiles when that dude played the guitar
25 years later still rocking, although the gitarist definitely could use a haircut!
Listen to that groove-timing.
Que música linda e que performance da banda!
Bad ass Vid..love it
I first saw stuemer with jean luc ponty. Man he can be an an amazing shredder along side Alan holdsworth. Enough said.
