I was raised by 2 alcoholics and guess what? I became an alcoholic also. I've been sober for 7 years, about 20% of my adult life. My behavior when drinking was abhorrent and only by the grace of God did no one die. I drove my beautiful fun loving son many times intoxicated and I think about how frightening it must have been for him at times. God forgive me.

And it may sound strange to us from a legalistic society but the best solution in a case like that is just to let a more responsible relative or even friend raise the child, while the parent is still involved from whatever distance they're emotionally and intellectually responsible enough to be... This was the practice in nearly all Native American nations and their social structures are remarkable in that child abuse and things like s abuse of children were all but non-existent... The adults who would do things like that were almost invariably banished from the group and while that's not a prison term it is practically a death sentence since the person would be completely vulnerable to everything around them without a social structure......

Whatever reason Meighan chose to open the car door, she sure wasn’t thinking about her little 3 year old daughter. So her mother didn’t seem to care about her daughter jumping out of the car and Meighan didn’t seem to care about her little 3 year old daughter. The apple doesn’t fall too far away from the tree. The 3 year old baby girl has to suffer because of a selfish mother AND Grandmother.

@@klz9500Did you watch the video and see how reckless the grandmother was? The granddaughter has a family history of alcoholism at least two generations deep on her mother's side. She needs to be raised in a non-alcoholic home. I remember all the times my mom drove blackout drunk with me. I hid in the footwells of the back seat, crying, while she tried to drive and light a cigarette while swatting at me with one hand. You know what I learned from that? I learned how to get out of a car that was filling with water when I was 7. We lived near the intercoastal, and I knew I couldn't count on her to save me. By the grace of god, I moved away and she got sober. 7 years later I was allowed to live with her again. She was sober for almost 50 years when she died. Luckily my never-drunk grandparents and uncles looked out for me, but they didn't know she'd take me to her friend's house and leave me with their teen boy to watch me while they went on a bender. Then when they came back totally sh1tfaced, she insisted on driving home. I was lucky on the nights that she just didn't come home from work until 2 or 3 AM. I was on my own for dinner and everything else, but if she didn't come home from work until 2 or 3 AM - at least I wasn't in the car with her. That's why I would think that. Why don't you?
@@kenw2225I know people like her, some with Borderline personality disorder. they'll threaten violence and self harm to get their way and manipulate a situation. She assaulted her mother and then opened the door for dramatic effect and got more than she bargained for. Pretty disturbing that she pulled that idiotic deadly stunt with her little girl in the backseat right next to her. It's a miracle Megans actions didn't cause Jennifer to wreck and all three wind up dead.
Neither of them thought about the real victim, the little girl. As she grows older she will probably suffer flashbacks of her mother sitting next to her and suddenly jumping out of the car.
@@sayhello5377 I'm not sure. I certainly remember events from when I was 3. And being questioned by the police would reinforce that memory because she would have had to recall events a few days after witnessing them.
I experienced a similar event that thank God didn't end in death but was on a freeway. I was probably 5 or 6 and it stuck with me but maybe 3 is too young.
@sayhello5377 Unfortunately traumatic memories can stick with you even at that age. My dad was an alcoholic and I absolutely remember some frightening situations with him in the first house we lived in and we moved from there when I was about to turn 3. The one upside is that at 3 she wouldn't likely have understood how much danger they were all in. An older child might have realised the adults were intoxicated and also that her mum might be injured or dead after jumping out.
maybe I paid not enough attention, but how the vehicle could be driven if they were both intoxicated but a breathalizer was installed on the car? They asked the child to it? Or maybe the daughter was not so intoxicated? Pretty sure that Jennifer didn't called soon the police because she was worried about her alcohol percentage and waited until it was lower
@agostinodublino1387 Megan's car had the breathalyzer installed due to her DUI, but they were in Jennifer's car. Megan wanted to drink at the wedding so she didn't want to take her car. That's why Jennifer drove them.
It is a wonder little Gia made it out alive that night, riding in an SUV with two drunks. I also feel sorry for the married couple. Now their anniversary every year is also the day Meighan died after leaving their wedding drunk, with her drunk mother. smh
I live not far from there, I remember how confused we all were because of the weird circumstances. We did assume she just got hit by a car while walking and no one stopped. But ultimately all sympathy goes to that poor baby girl who had to witness all of this.
Dr. You said it correctly! We only want to escape the consequences of alcohol use when we get in trouble! I have done this for many years. I am thankful to have hurt nobody. I am now sober just over six years and plan to do so.

@@klz9500 Yes ! You are absolutely correct! I took no life or physical harm anyone thank goodness. I not have just hurt relationships I have destroyed relationships! This really hurts and is the only thing that sometimes makes me want to relapse. As hard as it is to say it is true. I have not only changed to a better person before the drugs and alcohol but got back on top from being on the street with nothing. CEO of my own sole proprietor business that I built into a sea corporation that had board members and offices in multiple states. I also became a competitive runner they got paid from age 45 to 51.. My running injury is what caused my downfall. I can call it a mid life crisis. I’m thankful to be living straight and giving back helping others overcome there struggles.

My 2 sons will not talk to me at this time. It’s been 6.1 years now and I really hurt when I think about them. To be very honest it makes me think about doing something bad to myself. I really hurt and I know they are hurt and confused. Who was there dad . 2 different life’s . Also I think about relapsing and calling it a day! I do seek help. I still go to Celebrate Recovery and counseling. I need more counseling. I haven’t been in a long time. I take meds for bipolar. I have that under control. There's other ways to cheat it unfortunately. There's test where people have used electronic duster cans, rechargeable dusters, a tire filling pump. There's a couple other ways I saw recently that amazed me that I don't remember exactly how it was done. Or the daughter simply blew in it unfortunately.
I thought the interlock device was on Meighan's car because she had had a recent DUI, which is why she wanted her mother to drive? They took her mother's car, which didn't have an interlock device.

We brought our two year old son to my brother’s wedding, in good part because I was delusional: no one else’s child had ever been as perfect as mine (!), we had never used a babysitter, and I was completely besotted with my mother-love for him. I did ask my brother, though, and he enthusiastically approved his nephew being there. I know now I should have asked my sister-in-law. [In fact, everything turned out fine, he was very well behaved, as I expected he would be. But it could have gone badly.]

I don't know why Jennifer was upset about leaving early. It was 10:30pm and they had a three year old with them. So, they weren't leaving early, but late. Who is looking after that little girl is what I'd like to know 🥺? And, can you imagine being the officer who realises their best hope of getting to the truth involves interviewing a three year old? Whatever happened that night, though, no one deserves to go out like that.
Megan had asked Jennifer to drive her and her child to the wedding because Megan already had a DUI on her record but wanted to drink at the wedding and didn't want to drive drunk and possibly get another DUI and besides, her car had been outfitted with some kind of breathalizer type device that kept her from driving when she was drunk. Jennifer didn't want to do it because she rightly surmised that the child would get tired and they would have to leave early. However, despite her misgivings, Jennifer still drove them all to the wedding. Both Jennifer and Megan obviously have a drinking problem and should have been in rehab not driving drunk everywhere.
*drink responsibly (not stop consuming alcohol). Me having 3 beers on a Friday night at home doesn't pose a danger to anyone. I have never, and would never, drive under the influence.
It is incomprehensible to me that someone can fly out of your car, In this case your own flesh and blood, and you can leave and come back the next day knowing they're dead already.

The mother didn't call the cops because she was intoxicated and didn't want another DUI. I cannot wrap my head around the daughter letting her child be driven by someone intoxicated or not calling authorities when your daughter jumped out of a moving car. Bad Judgment! But to then assume that someone followed them out to the parking lot with a ledger and a clipboard taking names down is a bridge too far. AFTER somebody ends up dead and cops come questioning people will remember yeah I saw that lady she looked drunk to me. Doesn't mean they knew this person was driving home. For all they knew she could have called an Uber

Jennifer didn't call the police that night because she had been drinking too, and was afraid she would get arrested for DUI. In hindsight, Jennifer should have just told Meighan to find a friend to take her to the wedding venue..
Meighan should have found alternative transportation and a baby sitter for her daughter. Or Meighan should have just went with her daughter, and not had cocktails. Her mother/the daughter's grandmother is pretty selfish to not care about any of them + other drivers to drive so drunk. The grandmother isn't winning any Grandma of the Year awards ... Hopefully, GIA has other relatives that aren't drunken selfish people.
Yup.. she knew their pattern. So many other choices. Call an Uber, stay overnight in a hotel, sleep it off on the side of the road for heaven's sake. All better than what happened.
A 3-years old witnessing an argument between her mother and her grandmother? Furthermore, two adults and one 3-years-old attend a wedding. Both adults drink. So, what was the plan? That the 3-years old operates the vehicle on their way home?
What a sad situation. I truly hope that the little baby left motherless won’t be raised by that grandmother. The violence of ripping a clump of her daughter’s hair because she was drunk and enraged that she couldn’t stay to drink more show a propensity for family violence, and abandoning her daughters body on the side of the road to hide her level of intoxication show a level of selfishness that make me feel concern for the baby left motherless.
I believe it was Jennifer (the 3 year-old toddler's grandmother) who had her hair pulled out by Meighan (the 3 year-old toddler's mother) as she sat in the front passenger seat before Meighan got out and moved to the back right-hand passenger seat beside her 3 year-old daughter who was sitting to the left of her. Jennifer resumed driving before Meighan deliberately jumped or was accidentally thrown out of an unlocked and open automobile door.

Grand daughter Gia now lives with her father and doesn’t have any contact with the Grandmother. I believe the husband also divorced Jennifer and tried to sue her for wrongful death of their daughter but the case was dropped by a judge I think. Overall sad for the entire family.
Thank God Gia is far away from the alcoholic grandma. The child deserves a happy & carefree childhood, she’s already been subjected to too much at 3 years old.
Her ex hubsand sued her for wrongful death (Jennifer was remarried to a creep Meighan didn't like). Meighan's father also sued the wedding venue, but that suit was dropped. Not sure if he successfully sued Jennifer, but I don't think that was dropped.
I simply cannot see one single benefit of drinking alcohol. In this case, alcohol consumption played a major part in this senseless death. Thank you so much, Dr. Grande.❤

I'm surprised they didn't charge her with some type of negligence after all she would have totally known that her daughter had exited the vehicle and at substantial speed and had probably gotten hurt. So either she completely ignored that or she went back saw she was mortally wounded and still decided to not call an ambulance, either way she was negligent. I don't know how anyone can dispute that.
I dont think she was legally bound to render assistance for her daughter jumping out of the vehicle. It would be another story if she hit someone. That is probably what the DA meant with the law not foresing a case like this

One of my employees, a young 22 year old, opened the car door at freeway speeds and jumped out to his death while his dad was driving. It was deemed a suicide. Horrible.
I think she told her mom to stop the car because they were fighting which made her decide to walk home. She exited the vehicle and opened the back door to get her daughter out of the car and the mother took off while she was trying to get out her kid out of the car.
And I say it video after video and I'll say it again. The primary victim is that child. An innocent child who did nothing to deserve being put in that situation, losing her mother, and having what is likely a lifetime of trauma to contend with because of decisions of horrible adults who were supposed to look out for her but did not
@@KaraLey98 she may not cognitively remember it but the brain and body 100% remembers trauma from birth on, and will affect things like behavior and emotional reflexes for the rest of her life.
I don’t think she probably closed the door or wear her seat belt. The car went around the corner the door opened and she flew. The mother called the cop the next day when the alcohol was out of her system

Never argue with a driver who is under the influence. Never get in the car with a driver who is under the influence in the first place. Another thing Meighan should not get in the auto with her child too. If I were Meighan I would take my child, call Uber, and get a motel or hotel room. Always prepare for an emergency when traveling.
Given they both knew they were wanting to consume alcohol it would have made much more sense to hire an uber, get a cab or ride with others. Such an unnecessary tragedy.
Hi Dr Grande, good afternoon from Southern California. Excellent analysis. Drugs and drinking I had made a lot bad decisions, opening the car door was not one of them. My Dad threw out of his van for being a backseat driver. Jennifer should have done the right thing and dial 911. But drinking prevented her from being able to make that decision. As always I learn something new from your videos.
I bet her boyfriend feels terrrrrrrible for not driving to get her when she called. I’ve had survivors guilt for years before because I was visiting a girl I was dating, I decided to go home around 1:30am for no real reason and her ex showed up later and murdered her in her bed. I could barely think anything except “why didn’t I stay?” for a very long time.

Ive been in a similar situation on a freeway, i was 5 or 6...luckily it didnt end in death, only me blubbering to my therapist 30 yrs later😂 serious though, ive seen this kind of dynamic play in my own family. No alcohol necessary. Some people have such an erratic dramatic dynamic thry can lose all common sense and traumatize their kids and grandkids.. the weird thing is in these situations theres still a strange love and loyalty so i could see the mother not bringing up the fight and the hair. Granted she probably was motivated by self interest, but ive seen people at eachothers throats but the moment an outsider steps in they turn in unison on that person and defend eachother...its crazy. I can 💯see this exact scenario playing out without any need for alcohol. Just extreme personalities and family dynamics.
I know EXACTLY what you’re saying! No alcohol needed. My parents were visiting from out of state and staying with me and my husband. One afternoon, my mother walked through our front door carrying a bunch of stuff and started talking about nothing important. After a few minutes I asked where Dad was and she said “Oh we got into a fight and he jumped out of the car at a red light and he’s walking home. Anyway, I bought a lemon pie for Sunday.” My mom just wove it into the conversation like it was the most natural thing in the world, which it was to them. Both of them did it often. I’m just lucky they waited to add that detail to their constant arguments when I became an adult and didn’t do it when I was in the car with them as a kid. When I tried to point out how insane their behavior was, they would stick together like glue and then get mad at me. So yes, I absolutely know where you’re coming from!
I think at worst, Jennifer overshot Dayton on purpose bc she was trying to make some kind of point with Megan, such as coerce her into 1), apologizing for attacking her, 2) for exiting the vehicle earlier, and/or 3) making her prematurely leave the wedding in a way that she foresaw and tried to avoid. At the very least, she wasn’t ready for the argument to end. I think it’s also possible that Megan was threatening to leave the vehicle again, so Jennifer was purposely going at a high rate of speed to force Megan to stay in the SUV and further intimidate her into apologizing or hear what Jennifer wanted to say. Then, as Dr Grande hypothesized, Megan opened the door in an attempt to scare Jennifer into thinking she was calling her bluff, only to literally fall victim to the laws of Sir Issac Newton.
Portland, Salem, McMinnville, and Dayton, OR are my husband's old stomping grounds. Dr. Grande's scenario of what could have happened in this case is quite likely. This situation reminds me of the sloppy drunk identical twin sisters who were yoga instructors in Hawaii that physically fought with each other while driving along a winding highway, which caused the car to fly off the road over a 200 foot cliff, crash into the rocks below, and kill one of them. A number of people witnessed Alexandria Duval driving and passenger, Anastasia, struggling with her before she died.
At NO point did either adult consider the tiny child in the car. The drunk driving, the violence, the reckless decisions. Even if Megan had survived that little girl would have witnessed all of this nonsense. Poor little girl 😢
Meghan should not have been drinking alcohol at any time whether she planned to drive or not if her behavior was this erratic when she drank. And it sounds like Jennifer had some of the same problems
Any mother who puts her hands on her child is despicable, adult child or otherwise. Unless you’re protecting yourself from a serious threat you shouldn’t ever put your hands on anyone to hurt them.
If you knowingly get into any mode of transportation w/a drunk at the wheel, you're as equally responsible for your poor decisions as the drunk at the wheel. Shame on both these adults for putting a child's life in danger because of their terrible choices.

Meighan was a good friend of mine in High School. She spent almost everyday at my house after school. Love her and miss her a lot. That’s all 💜

She needs to be raised in a non-alcoholic home. I remember all the times my mom drove blackout drunk with me. I hid in the footwells of the back seat, crying, while she tried to drive and light a cigarette while swatting at me with one hand. You know what I learned from that? I learned how to get out of a car that was filling with water when I was 7. We lived near the intercoastal, and I knew I couldn't count on her to save me.
By the grace of god, I moved away and she got sober. 7 years later I was allowed to live with her again. She was sober for almost 50 years when she died. Luckily my never-drunk grandparents and uncles looked out for me, but they didn't know she'd take me to her friend's house and leave me with their teen boy to watch me while they went on a bender. Then when they came back totally sh1tfaced, she insisted on driving home. I was lucky on the nights that she just didn't come home from work until 2 or 3 AM. I was on my own for dinner and everything else, but if she didn't come home from work until 2 or 3 AM - at least I wasn't in the car with her. That's why I would think that. Why don't you?

She assaulted her mother and then opened the door for dramatic effect and got more than she bargained for. Pretty disturbing that she pulled that idiotic deadly stunt with her little girl in the backseat right next to her. It's a miracle Megans actions didn't cause Jennifer to wreck and all three wind up dead.

Neither of them thought about the real victim, the little girl. As she grows older she will probably suffer flashbacks of her mother sitting next to her and suddenly jumping out of the car.
Being that she was only 3 when this occurred, it is unlikely she will have memory of it. That’s one small thing to be glad for, I suppose. 😮💨
@@sayhello5377 I'm not sure. I certainly remember events from when I was 3. And being questioned by the police would reinforce that memory because she would have had to recall events a few days after witnessing them.
I experienced a similar event that thank God didn't end in death but was on a freeway. I was probably 5 or 6 and it stuck with me but maybe 3 is too young.

@sayhello5377 Unfortunately traumatic memories can stick with you even at that age. My dad was an alcoholic and I absolutely remember some frightening situations with him in the first house we lived in and we moved from there when I was about to turn 3.
The one upside is that at 3 she wouldn't likely have understood how much danger they were all in. An older child might have realised the adults were intoxicated and also that her mum might be injured or dead after jumping out.

maybe I paid not enough attention, but how the vehicle could be driven if they were both intoxicated but a breathalizer was installed on the car? They asked the child to it? Or maybe the daughter was not so intoxicated? Pretty sure that Jennifer didn't called soon the police because she was worried about her alcohol percentage and waited until it was lower
@agostinodublino1387 Megan's car had the breathalyzer installed due to her DUI, but they were in Jennifer's car. Megan wanted to drink at the wedding so she didn't want to take her car. That's why Jennifer drove them.
It is a wonder little Gia made it out alive that night, riding in an SUV with two drunks. I also feel sorry for the married couple. Now their anniversary every year is also the day Meighan died after leaving their wedding drunk, with her drunk mother. smh

I live not far from there, I remember how confused we all were because of the weird circumstances. We did assume she just got hit by a car while walking and no one stopped. But ultimately all sympathy goes to that poor baby girl who had to witness all of this.
Dr. You said it correctly! We only want to escape the consequences of alcohol use when we get in trouble! I have done this for many years. I am thankful to have hurt nobody. I am now sober just over six years and plan to do so.

@@klz9500 Yes ! You are absolutely correct! I took no life or physical harm anyone thank goodness. I not have just hurt relationships I have destroyed relationships! This really hurts and is the only thing that sometimes makes me want to relapse. As hard as it is to say it is true. I have not only changed to a better person before the drugs and alcohol but got back on top from being on the street with nothing. CEO of my own sole proprietor business that I built into a sea corporation that had board members and offices in multiple states. I also became a competitive runner they got paid from age 45 to 51.. My running injury is what caused my downfall. I can call it a mid life crisis. I’m thankful to be living straight and giving back helping others overcome there struggles.

My 2 sons will not talk to me at this time. It’s been 6.1 years now and I really hurt when I think about them. To be very honest it makes me think about doing something bad to myself. I really hurt and I know they are hurt and confused. Who was there dad . 2 different life’s . Also I think about relapsing and calling it a day! I do seek help. I still go to Celebrate Recovery and counseling. I need more counseling. I haven’t been in a long time. I take meds for bipolar. I have that under control. It’s the hurt I caused and I do take full responsibility. Thank you for understanding what I was responding to. I’m thankful for hurting nobody in an accident. Again thank you

The real question is how did 2 drunks start the car with an ignition interlock device? The sad truth is the daughter or another party member did.

There's other ways to cheat it unfortunately. There's test where people have used electronic duster cans, rechargeable dusters, a tire filling pump. There's a couple other ways I saw recently that amazed me that I don't remember exactly how it was done. Or the daughter simply blew in it unfortunately.
I thought the interlock device was on Meighan's car because she had had a recent DUI, which is why she wanted her mother to drive? They took her mother's car, which didn't have an interlock device.

My initial thoughts were why was a 3 year old brought to a wedding. Now it’s obvious these two needed someone more mature as a chaperone.
We brought our two year old son to my brother’s wedding, in good part because I was delusional: no one else’s child had ever been as perfect as mine (!), we had never used a babysitter, and I was completely besotted with my mother-love for him.
I did ask my brother, though, and he enthusiastically approved his nephew being there. I know now I should have asked my sister-in-law.
[In fact, everything turned out fine, he was very well behaved, as I expected he would be. But it could have gone badly.]

I don't know why Jennifer was upset about leaving early. It was 10:30pm and they had a three year old with them. So, they weren't leaving early, but late.
Who is looking after that little girl is what I'd like to know 🥺? And, can you imagine being the officer who realises their best hope of getting to the truth involves interviewing a three year old? Whatever happened that night, though, no one deserves to go out like that.
Megan had asked Jennifer to drive her and her child to the wedding because Megan already had a DUI on her record but wanted to drink at the wedding and didn't want to drive drunk and possibly get another DUI and besides, her car had been outfitted with some kind of breathalizer type device that kept her from driving when she was drunk. Jennifer didn't want to do it because she rightly surmised that the child would get tired and they would have to leave early. However, despite her misgivings, Jennifer still drove them all to the wedding. Both Jennifer and Megan obviously have a drinking problem and should have been in rehab not driving drunk everywhere.
Its amazing how many problems could be avoided if people could stop consuming alcohol.

The mother didn't call the cops because she was intoxicated and didn't want another DUI. I cannot wrap my head around the daughter letting her child be driven by someone intoxicated or not calling authorities when your daughter jumped out of a moving car. Bad Judgment! I hope this mother becomes sober and stops drinking.

But to then assume that someone followed them out to the parking lot with a ledger and a clipboard taking names down is a bridge too far. AFTER somebody ends up dead and cops come questioning people will remember yeah I saw that lady she looked drunk to me. Doesn't mean they knew this person was driving home. For all they knew she could have called an Uber

Jennifer didn't call the police that night because she had been drinking too, and was afraid she would get arrested for DUI. In hindsight, Jennifer should have just told Meighan to find a friend to take her to the wedding venue..
Meighan should have found alternative transportation and a baby sitter for her daughter. Or Meighan should have just went with her daughter, and not had cocktails. Her mother/the daughter's grandmother is pretty selfish to not care about any of them + other drivers to drive so drunk. The grandmother isn't winning any Grandma of the Year awards ... Hopefully, GIA has other relatives that aren't drunken selfish people.
Yup.. she knew their pattern. So many other choices. Call an Uber, stay overnight in a hotel, sleep it off on the side of the road for heaven's sake. All better than what happened.

A 3-years old witnessing an argument between her mother and her grandmother?
Furthermore, two adults and one 3-years-old attend a wedding. Both adults drink.
So, what was the plan?
That the 3-years old operates the vehicle on their way home?
What a sad situation. I truly hope that the little baby left motherless won’t be raised by that grandmother. The violence of ripping a clump of her daughter’s hair because she was drunk and enraged that she couldn’t stay to drink more show a propensity for family violence, and abandoning her daughters body on the side of the road to hide her level of intoxication show a level of selfishness that make me feel concern for the baby left motherless.
I believe it was Jennifer (the 3 year-old toddler's grandmother) who had her hair pulled out by Meighan (the 3 year-old toddler's mother) as she sat in the front passenger seat before Meighan got out and moved to the back right-hand passenger seat beside her 3 year-old daughter who was sitting to the left of her. Jennifer resumed driving before Meighan deliberately jumped or was accidentally thrown out of an unlocked and open automobile door.

Grand daughter Gia now lives with her father and doesn’t have any contact with the Grandmother. I believe the husband also divorced Jennifer and tried to sue her for wrongful death of their daughter but the case was dropped by a judge I think. Overall sad for the entire family.
Thank God Gia is far away from the alcoholic grandma. The child deserves a happy & carefree childhood, she’s already been subjected to too much at 3 years old.
Her ex hubsand sued her for wrongful death (Jennifer was remarried to a creep Meighan didn't like). Meighan's father also sued the wedding venue, but that suit was dropped. Not sure if he successfully sued Jennifer, but I don't think that was dropped.

I'm surprised they didn't charge her with some type of negligence after all she would have totally known that her daughter had exited the vehicle and at substantial speed and had probably gotten hurt. So either she completely ignored that or she went back saw she was mortally wounded and still decided to not call an ambulance, either way she was negligent. I don't know how anyone can dispute that.
I dont think she was legally bound to render assistance for her daughter jumping out of the vehicle. It would be another story if she hit someone. That is probably what the DA meant with the law not foresing a case like this

One of my employees, a young 22 year old, opened the car door at freeway speeds and jumped out to his death while his dad was driving. It was deemed a suicide. Horrible.
I think she told her mom to stop the car because they were fighting which made her decide to walk home. She exited the vehicle and opened the back door to get her daughter out of the car and the mother took off while she was trying to get out her kid out of the car.
I feel like that is a very real possibility. I'm so glad I'm no contact with my mom. This is something that would happen around her.
But how woukd this explain her crashing into the guard rails?
That makes no sense. If she was already outside of the car how did she get thrown from the car at high speed?

And I say it video after video and I'll say it again. The primary victim is that child. An innocent child who did nothing to deserve being put in that situation, losing her mother, and having what is likely a lifetime of trauma to contend with because of decisions of horrible adults who were supposed to look out for her but did not
@@KaraLey98 she may not cognitively remember it but the brain and body 100% remembers trauma from birth on, and will affect things like behavior and emotional reflexes for the rest of her life.
I don’t think she probably closed the door or wear her seat belt. The car went around the corner the door opened and she flew. The mother called the cop the next day when the alcohol was out of her system

Never argue with a driver who is under the influence. Never get in the car with a driver who is under the influence in the first place. Another thing Meighan should not get in the auto with her child too.
If I were Meighan I would take my child, call Uber, and get a motel or hotel room. Always prepare for an emergency when traveling.
Given they both knew they were wanting to consume alcohol it would have made much more sense to hire an uber, get a cab or ride with others. Such an unnecessary tragedy.

Excellent analysis. Drugs and drinking I had made a lot bad decisions, opening the car door was not one of them. My Dad threw out of his van for being a backseat driver. Jennifer should have done the right thing and dial 911. But drinking prevented her from being able to make that decision.

All new cars should have breath, interlock devices-providing they accurately work. Older cars should be adapted to the devices as well.

I could barely think anything except “why didn’t I stay?” for a very long time.
If he showed up with murder on his mind, he was probably armed, and you would have been victim 2.

Ive been in a similar situation on a freeway, i was 5 or 6...luckily it didnt end in death, only me blubbering to my therapist 30 yrs later😂 serious though, ive seen this kind of dynamic play in my own family. No alcohol necessary. Some people have such an erratic dramatic dynamic thry can lose all common sense and traumatize their kids and grandkids.. the weird thing is in these situations theres still a strange love and loyalty so i could see the mother not bringing up the fight and the hair. Granted she probably was motivated by self interest, but ive seen people at eachothers throats but the moment an outsider steps in they turn in unison on that person and defend eachother...its crazy. I can 💯see this exact scenario playing out without any need for alcohol. Just extreme personalities and family dynamics.
I know EXACTLY what you’re saying! No alcohol needed. My parents were visiting from out of state and staying with me and my husband. One afternoon, my mother walked through our front door carrying a bunch of stuff and started talking about nothing important. After a few minutes I asked where Dad was and she said “Oh we got into a fight and he jumped out of the car at a red light and he’s walking home. Anyway, I bought a lemon pie for Sunday.” My mom just wove it into the conversation like it was the most natural thing in the world, which it was to them. Both of them did it often. I’m just lucky they waited to add that detail to their constant arguments when I became an adult and didn’t do it when I was in the car with them as a kid. When I tried to point out how insane their behavior was, they would stick together like glue and then get mad at me. So yes, I absolutely know where you’re coming from!

I think at worst, Jennifer overshot Dayton on purpose bc she was trying to make some kind of point with Megan, such as coerce her into 1), apologizing for attacking her, 2) for exiting the vehicle earlier, and/or 3) making her prematurely leave the wedding in a way that she foresaw and tried to avoid. At the very least, she wasn’t ready for the argument to end. I think it’s also possible that Megan was threatening to leave the vehicle again, so Jennifer was purposely going at a high rate of speed to force Megan to stay in the SUV and further intimidate her into apologizing or hear what Jennifer wanted to say. Then, as Dr Grande hypothesized, Megan opened the door in an attempt to scare Jennifer into thinking she was calling her bluff, only to literally fall victim to the laws of Sir Issac Newton.

Drinking and driving is sooo bad! If I am going to drink anything it will always be at home or I will have made arrangements for transportation.

Portland, Salem, McMinnville, and Dayton, OR are my husband's old stomping grounds. Dr. Grande's scenario of what could have happened in this case is quite likely. This situation reminds me of the sloppy drunk identical twin sisters who were yoga instructors in Hawaii that physically fought with each other while driving along a winding highway, which caused the car to fly off the road over a 200 foot cliff, crash into the rocks below, and kill one of them. A number of people witnessed Alexandria Duval driving and passenger, Anastasia, struggling with her before she died.
At NO point did either adult consider the tiny child in the car. The drunk driving, the violence, the reckless decisions. Even if Megan had survived that little girl would have witnessed all of this nonsense. Poor little girl 😢

Meghan should not have been drinking alcohol at any time whether she planned to drive or not if her behavior was this erratic when she drank. And it sounds like Jennifer had some of the same problems

Any mother who puts her hands on her child is despicable, adult child or otherwise.
Unless you’re protecting yourself from a serious threat you shouldn’t ever put your hands on anyone to hurt them.
If you knowingly get into any mode of transportation w/a drunk at the wheel, you're as equally responsible for your poor decisions as the drunk at the wheel. Shame on both these adults for putting a child's life in danger because of their terrible choices.

They both are at fault. If they both wanted to drink, then why didn't they just get an Uber??? Sounds like two spoiled brats that got into a fight.
And the only one innocent in this whole mess is the little girl. No one thought one thing about her.
