My dad’s 19th birthday. How cool!

6:26 - I hate when people randomly come into my home and start pestering me about my brand of toothpaste…

Downy ad: It would have been an interesting follow-up to see Judy, Alice and Marsha run into each other and realize they were unknowingly dating the same guy and confronting (and humiliating) him in public.

This is a great cache of commercials.

Ivory Liquid- I like how the VHS distortion in this commercial makes every item on the shelf at the store those people are in look very blurry.
Kellogg’s- I almost expected Snap, Krackle and Pop to leap off of their cereal box and join those people in singing their song and dancing along.
Clorox 2- The video game sound effects they used to make the Clorox 2 box shoot a laser at the stain on the shirt reminds me of old Atari video games.

The ivory commercial was shot on videotape and whatever distortion or blurring is there is almost certainly due to the limitations of that medium, not "VHS distortion". This is a very clean recording, about as close to broadcast quality as you could expect from this vintage.

Bad optics having a downy commerical follow a downyflake commerical.

11:43-Shoot, I would love to have a fish and chips dinner for $2.99 (even with inflation, that’s only $11.14). You’d be hard pressed to get that for less than $15 nowadays, if you consider the soup/salad and the roll.

The ESB special might have been awesome but geez the Darth Vader image was scary!
Plus Orson Welles sounding.... normal in the Paul Masson ad!

8:55- while the way that the announcer (who I am pretty sure portrayed one of the adults in “Rugrats”) pronounces the word “bologna” does match the spelling of the product and mirrors the pronunciation of the Italian city, I am pretty sure subsequent ads pronounced the product as “baloney.”

That Downy commercial…If the mother is haunted by an image of herself nagging about fabric softness, her son is probably haunted by the numerous women he dates who scowl at him every waking moment.

Rubik's Cube-after like, ten tries is when you just get frustrated and do the"remove the stickers"move😂
SPFX The Empire Strikes Back-that Darth Vader bumper was kind of like a jump scare
Downy-her son must be quite the ladies man
Pizza Quick Sauce-those three at the end had a very good nap
M*A*S*H-good episode..i believe it was in real time
WKRP In Cincinnati-looks like Johnny Fever was getting electrocuted at the end
Paul Masson Carafe-the bottle that the lid was being put on was the one that Orson drank from 😆

Never heard of the SPFX documentary. You need the 2011 BD sets.

12:41 - Now this is a feel good epic that would never fly in today’s society.

So the Downy commercial must had been the inspiration for the "ghost" (in the Philippines, the "ghost" of the mothers was referred as "konsensya" ["conscience" in English] for the 80's Safeguard brand new soap variants haha
