The only thing that Berserk lacked was to have a range of good characters, because apart from Guts and Griffith and maybe another one like Zodd, the rest of the characters are boring shit like Farnese Isidro etc.

@@SuperSavageSpirit facts are for nobody i guess. if we take for example Vagabond, a manga that is on pair with Berserk, you will see that Vagabond has a massive amount of great characters in every single arc. Not saying Vagabond is better, but atleast when it comes to likable characters, Vagabond negs Berserk

I agree with your reasoning with Pun Pun. I read it at 16, and I could see that it was dark and such, however it didn’t hit me at all, and I believe it’s just because I haven’t experienced enough for me to truly understand and emphasize with the themes presented. I just might have to reread it later when I get a little older.
Mature self analysis
I have read PunPun this year. And it has traumatized me. Also, I had to read it with pauses, sometimes extended ones. Just couldn't binge read it. 10 chapter per time. And than healing myself from it.
I recommend Suicide Island to anyone going through a tough time. It's written and drawn by Kouji Mori and it's absolutely brilliant and extremely well written with deep character development. I'm going through the whole thing a second time and it's again making me tearing up as I appreciate my life more, each chapter I read.
I bought SI in Japan (raw) and then I used a pen to translate it myself.. it is really good but some characters are really dumb and make stupid mistakes

Im so happy Berserk is getting all this love for the past few years. This Monday i saw this dude that works with me and he had a brand of sacrifice on his neck (he has many other tats of manga/anime on him) and we started talking, good dude, and he just got into Berserk like a year ago. Ive been reading Berserk for 20 years now and i remember when saying that you read manga made people look at you funny (they never called me a dork or nerd in my face, since i played sports, surf, skated) but even people that watched anime thought that manga was a lil too much for nerds lol, im not even joking about this. Now it is more accepting and manga has taken over comics or there's plp that dont really watch anime but are into manga (i myself are extremely selective in the anime that i watch, maybe 2 or 3 series per year). I have a friend that has also been into Berserk/manga for over 20 years and he kinda hates it, u know he is the gatekeeping type, lol i just laugh and say the more the merrier, more people to talk to, more opinion, cool websites or youtubers making dope content. And Berserk deservers all the love its getting.

Great list, so many bangers, I’ve only been reading manga for a year (well Berserk 2 years ago) so I’ve probably only read 25 manga total haha. And a lot I’m only halfway through.
But my favourites 5 so far are Berserk (it’s by far the best story I’ve ever read, amazing), Gantz, Vagabond, Witch & the Beast, and Claymore.
U have so much to enjoy mwuahahahaha
Top 10 would be too hard for me to rank since 6-15 are always shifting for me but my top 5 would probably be:
1. Berserk
2. Haikyuu
3. Chihayafuru
4. 3-Gatsu no Lion
5. Vinland Saga
Gintama and HxH are also up there, but more so because of their anime adaptations, even if the manga for both are fantastic.
I've also been reading the Umineko manga after finishing the VN and it might just crack the top 5 as well.

I agree anout AoT. I thought AoT's ending was just fine, 7/10, its pacing being the worst thing about it, but what I'm sure of is that I'm never gonna be as obsessed over a piece of fiction ever again.

I fuckin’ loved Bleach. Character designs (and characters) are sick, artwork is sick, and abilities are bonkers. TYBW did feel rushed, but that’s my only issue tbh. Love that shit lol

If you want an American comic like Berserk, try reading Hellboy. It’s also sold by Dark Horse Comics. It’s not as dark or gruesome, but it’ll definitely hit that horror feel.
Do you know of some top tier American comics I wanted to start getting into them but have no idea where to start.
@@Skankhunt-hl9zj read sandman by Neil Gaiman and stick with it until chapter 8. If you don’t like “sound of her wings” then don’t read it but it’s one of my favorite stories of all time.

I didn't included HxH because I only read the stuff after the Election arc. My main experience with the series is through the 2011 anime (top 3 favorite anime), so it's unfair to put in this list.

I would also recommend trying out Hunter x Hunter 1999 if you haven't already. I personally thought Hunter x Hunter 2011 was subpar compared to 1999, and I also prefer reading the manga over watching 2011. The 1999 soundtrack is top tier, especially the main theme.

I cried many manly tears. Shuu and Rei and Toki are such likeable characters. Raoh commands your respect. Oddly Kaioh, even though powerful, never had that regal aura like Raoh. Kaioh was just more demonic and sinister. Even the last leg of FotNS with the boy character (Ryu???) was good.
Great list. I highly recommend Usogui if you want to feel motivated to work out AND gamble. The art is absolutely fantastic some of the best art I’ve ever seen in manga
Thoughts on gto? Was probably the most fun I had reading a manga ever. Def resonated w it cause I was the same age as Onizuka when I read it and was in a similar situation (being fresh out of college and not knowing what to do w my life). Love your list tho!

Berserk is that good that the space in quality between it and anyones second favorite manga is the love for ones second favorite manga multiplied by itself. The Golden Age Arc is perfect writing.

For me Fist of the North Star is Definitely closer to N4 or 5. It’s aged very well. My Big three are Berserk Jojos Bizarre Adventure, and Fist of the North Star.

I love fist of the Northstar as a fun enjoyable action shonen but has it aged well? Some of the stores are pretty predictable and formulaic. And the themes it explores are pretty surface level and have been explored better in other shows. It can also come across as melodramatic at times when they try to get u to care about some of the villains
Haha yea I completely agree, nothing is better than Berserk, it’s the best story ever told. It’s just damn near perfect.

Man REAL is such a great manga, i remember when it came out i didnt really care for it, gave it like two tries,i think it is as Ryan was saying a manga that you should read when you are a bit older. I picked it up like two years ago and Wow, it is unbelievable, it is so good and all the characters are written fantastic. Really can recommended enough.

Vagabond is definitely in the top 10 somewhere, probably as number 5. Tomorrow's Joe would also be in my top 10, I recommend it highly. The main character is probably some of the closest a shounen character has come to Thorfinn, Musashi, and Guts in terms of character development and progression.
I actually got into manga through Berserk.
Same, I started with Berserk and now 6 months later I've also read one piece, Uzumaki, and I'm going to continue chainsaw man

Great List, would put Berserk (after Golden Age arc the manga becomes an 8/10) , HunterxHunter and Vinland much lower though; and I would add Tokyo Ghoul, Land of the Lustrous and Made in Abyss
If I could I'd recommend a series I ADORE & 1 I feel u'll find interestin. It's called Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous & it's beautiful(has an equally amazin anime but It's CG so u might not be into that BUT it's done by the same studio doin the new Trigun anime so...). Happy thx-givin to u & 1 thing I'm thankful for R u & ur vids.

Yo enishi is the goat I loved reading kenshin in hs for me I love it on psr with vagabond but have blade of the immortal slightly above both
I usually just watch anime if it’s adapted properly but in berserks case you have to read the manga, some others I need to read the manga are claymore, Tokyo ghoul, and akame ga kill from what I heard, only saw the anime for those
Also dorohedoro, as far as I remember the adaption is alright content wise (for it's length) but the artstyle is just so much better in the manga

I think i didn't even read 25 mangas unfortunately. I started reading Mangas like 9 or 10 years ago , before that only watched "hype-animes" that were popular around those times.
But i thought, after watching this video, why not give it a go and try to rank them haha. I get into new mangas mostly through recommendations or when i see some videos or twitter-posts about something and think "well, this looks interesting, try it out". The old big 3 (Bleach, Naruto and One Piece) aren't in here because i didn't read them, but i watched like 80% of the anime from all three series and in the case of One Piece i keep track of the newest chapters for the last 2 years and am familiar with the whole story. Nonetheless i will not rank them, since i didn't read it all. Although i like One Piece the most, then Naruto, then Bleach. Same case with Dragonball and Dragonball Z (i watched the anime several times over and over, but never read the Manga completely), which i like even more than the other 3.
So, my list of the series i finished (some are ongoing, so maybe it will change some day):

Tried Jojo, but unfortunately not my taste. Also tried Slam Dunk, but not the greatest fan of sport-stories, so it didn't catch me.

I was skimming through the video just to see your picks before watching the whole video and I LEGIT thought Roster Figther was your number two. lol .All great choices Ryan. I know you don't agree with me on this, but the final arc of Gantz really made me dislike the whole experience. Before the final arc Gantz had the potential to be masterpiece, the new Akira. After that? it is probably a 4. Even though I do like the character development, especially Kurono I feel the most of the mysteries were either forgot or had answer that made no sense. Biggest disapointment in a manga in my life. Happy thanks giving
