I’ve only come back since Spy X Family’s anime adaptation is out and I’m watching it now, wish I’d read it back when I heard about it in this list but oh well. I’m here to give my thanks, you’ve introduced me to some great manga and I’m pretty thankful for it 👍

Notice: So I’m A Spider, So What manga skips over a lot of world building. The entire human side is skipped. Even though the human side is retarded, its needed for the story. I would recommend reading the light novel because its the best version, or the anime if you don’t have the money for the light novel. The anime does skip some of my favorite parts on the light novel and has crap animation so take it with a grain of salt.
I mean, the animation starts pretty good, but it ages like bread, just getting worse and worse. Apparently that's caused by the studio outsourcing because they couldn't afford to do the entire anime themselves (basically, a small portion of the CG is done in house, and most of the drawn stuff is, but everything else is done on the cheap). Hopefully means that the anime might be able to get a good looking second season if it does well (though that CGI battle could tank those hopes).
NO matter who you are, You have to try reading Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichimanen de.otherwise known as "I sold my life for ten thousand yen per year." Believe me you will love it and it will make you cry.
Not to be annoying, but read the light novel too (either or, I've read both and I liked the LN more) It also goes by Three Days of Happiness. It's just so good
Joseph Joestar a lot of webtoons r pretty good and are better than a lot of mangas (tower of god, sweet home, unordinary, and boxer or boxing whatever it’s called). There’s also web novels like solo leveling and god of blackfield that’s pretty great
@Joseph Joestar Seeing it summed up like that, you're right. However, there are exceptions that have only some of those pitfalls and are good enough to be enjoyable. There are probably like three that don't have any of the problems you mentioned but I'm yet to find them, though.
I’m so happy you out Jagaaaaaan on here! It’s so underrated and it makes me believe that seinen might make a splash like shounen right now. Shounen has addicting series like AOT, Chainsawman, Twin Star Exorcist, Spy x Family, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and lots more. Seinen doesn’t have much stud that is newish besides Jagaaaaan, Hinamatsuri, Kaguya, Made in Abyss, Zombie 100, and a few others that I am as exited to read.

Manga is the best it’s ever been (we still have the cool shit from the past and the new shit), DC is assuring it’s dominance with its stories like it should’ve been in the first place, Image is killing it, and Brandon Sanderson is almost done with his next Stormlight book. Anyone who even remotely enjoys “So I’m a Spider So What?” I greatly, GREATLY suggest go read the light novel. The manga is literally, and I mean literally, only half the story. The novel’s chapters feature two different main characters whose stories are told every other chapter. So the main character of the manga (Kumoko, the spider girl) [the one you read about in the manga] is told in Chapter 1 and Shin (one of her reincarnated Classmates) is a human prince and his story is started in Chapter 2. Back to Kumoko in Chapter 3 and so on. [Shin is not even present in the manga up until now] After reading the Light Novel, the manga felt wholly incomplete. If you really truly get hooked on the story of “So I’m a Spider...” please find a light novel. Not to mention the manga updates so fucking slowly it might as well be on hiatus. The Light novel has like 8 volumes and the manga is barely through half of volume 1.
Please keep in mind I dropped the manga (because I picked up the light novel) a good while ago, so the might have started Shin’s story now. But judging based on the release timings of the manga back when I was reading it, I very much doubt they are much farther than when I stopped. In fact, I doubt they’ve moved at all since I dropped it years ago.
@@abramblanca4206 I read the light novel a while ago, and there are several major plot points that you get relating to how the 2 characters stories interact, although Kumoko is still the main focus for the majority of the story (the swapping back and forth slows down and spends way more time on her)

@@abramblanca4206 Yes, as the others said, the Ln has Shin start out as one of the MC so that you can get some worldbuilding on what is happening outside of Kumoko's world (since she's trapped in the labyrinth for the the first section of the story). It really makes the story feel less flat and you can tell things are going to get spicy in the future. I have no fucking idea why the manga adapters would just use Kumoko's story since it feels more like a shitty manhwa writing style without the worldbuilding created by the Shin sections. Having the story be only isolated in the labyrinth makes it feel super 1 dimensional where it's just "Oh, Kumoko finds a new enemy and has to fight." Sure, they started introducing D and all that, but especially around this time (since you said the manga just got to where she's exiting the labyrinth for the first time) Shin's story really starts getting little connections to Kumoko's story outside of things like "oh we spotted a spider in the labyrinth 9 months ago". I won't spoil anything, but the connection the two stories have is absolutely wild. I really suggest reading the Ln over the manga. When I said that the manga was only half I was talking about volume. In my real honest opinion it's more of a 'sum is greater than it's parts' deal. Kumoko's story without Shin's really just feels flat and boring outside of the original concept of "Reincarnated into a spider with game elements"... there's only so much of that you can enjoy. But, Shin's story really sets up the world and prepares it for Kumoko's entrance into it.
I remember the days when I would just pick a random manga just to give it a shot like MxO was really good and I wouldn't have even tried it if I had looked into it.
Cirque du Freak (The Saga of Darren Shan) is an absolutely fantastic vampire manga series from like 2009, which everyone should read. It's finished and it's fantastic. Though you need to buy the volumes after like chapter 80 because the scans online stop around that point. It's been officially fully translated thankfully.
Read the books and I vaguely remember that the first book actually made me cry. It’s was a good series of books even tho I think vampires are pretty overdone, it had very refreshing concepts. (Thanks for reminding me about the series unintentionally)

I started reading spyxfamily during midterms in college and I managed to catch up to all the twenty-something chapters in no time, its so good and honestly seeing the development of the fake family become a real family is so moving.
Really happy for the recommendations, you've really got a good eye for these. Kumo desu ga is great, and I'm really happy to hear death mage finally getting some more exposure, it really deserves it, even if it loses its steam after a while.
yo, as someone who reads more light novels its nice to see my own taste be confirmed by several reccommendations and animes created about the stuff i've already read or at least up-to-date on. So, can confirm, I'm a spider, so what? is amazing and really enjoyable even well into the story when she does genuinely become OP. Death mage doent want a 4th time, is a bit slow and feels like a mix between slime and death march. But I personally like it. Others are about rightfully recommended. The suit one I actually havent heard of and will dive into.
Same... this is the only guy I trust to give good recommendations lol. Read Dorohedoro because of him and then afterward decided to check out Beastars and I enjoyed it thoroughly even though it was 100% something I would not have considered otherwise.
Have you heard of the manga "The Climber" by Shinichi Sakamoto? It's weird that it is such a pleasant read with a great art which takes a dive into a world of mountain climbing, but almost nobody talks about it. I think you should check it out, it was a memorable experience
It an absolute amazing manga. Easily the best sports manga I ever read. Mostly because it talks about social anxiety. I also recommend other manga by shinichi sakamoto called innocent.
Just caught up with gleipnir I love the action mystery and dark theme of it 10/10 would recommend has a unique atmosphere and vibe the plot twist are also great

I have gone from full time gamer to full time manga reader, I've read about 100 different manga in the past 5 months, a bunch with multiple hundreds of parts, almost all ongoing. Only kept 45, and slowly the updates are becoming frequent enough that I can't add anymore because with work taking most of my day, I can read like 2 hours worth on work days and the updates take almost that amount daily. And I got here just like you, when I hit that last update I search for something more, currently returners magic, solo leveling and beginning after the end are top 3. Apotheosis and I am sorcerer King are also good contenders.
More recommendations, please. You have good taste. The only one that I was iffy about was Gleipnir. I knew about it before this video and the fact that you were able to give your good opinion whilst still staying unbiased, further was able to predict 4 chapters as a window of whether or not the reader would like it is very precise (i.e. I stopped after 4 chapters). "Tenkuu shinpan" aka "high-rise invasion" actually needs more attention. Mystery, horror, action, seinen, mature, and it's also an isekai but quite unique as it doesn't come from a novel source or anything(meaning it's Manga original) like all the rest of the isekai genres. Good art style, decent story and season 2(of the Manga of course bcz there's no anime of it) is already out.
Right so a thing about Death Mage is that it is mostly MOSTLY just another isekai harem. It does have a genuinely good/interesting story or premise. But the author seems determined to keep adding to the MC's harem. I don't mind a harem. But I think right now in the story/light novel he has like 10 potential wives maybe a tad less. I feel like the author just keeps sliding them in there, when they don't need to as they have good characters and plot to use.
This was a good list, a nice in-depth look rather than my usual hunting through IG discover page and finding posts with single images and a caption on pages run by someone trying to be emo or unique
For those that are wondering if Duranki is actually good, yes it is. Definitely give it a read, the art is fantastic, and the story is compelling as well as still developing a over arching plot. It’s only got 6 chapters with one coming out soon.
I think kingdom will become popular( at least a bit more) once the season 3 drops(even if its bad). However I am getting a feeling that season 3 will be at least as good as vinland saga adaptation. It would be stupid on animators part to fuck up the greatest war arc in anime history

Joseph Joestar a lot of webtoons r pretty good and are better than a lot of mangas (tower of god, sweet home, unordinary, and boxer or boxing whatever it’s called). There’s also web novels like solo leveling and god of blackfield that’s pretty great
@Joseph Joestar Seeing it summed up like that, you're right. However, there are exceptions that have only some of those pitfalls and are good enough to be enjoyable. There are probably like three that don't have any of the problems you mentioned but I'm yet to find them, though.
I’m so happy you out Jagaaaaaan on here! It’s so underrated and it makes me believe that seinen might make a splash like shounen right now. Shounen has addicting series like AOT, Chainsawman, Twin Star Exorcist, Spy x Family, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and lots more.
Seinen doesn’t have much stud that is newish besides Jagaaaaan, Hinamatsuri, Kaguya, Made in Abyss, Zombie 100, and a few others that I am as exited to read.

Anyone who even remotely enjoys “So I’m a Spider So What?” I greatly, GREATLY suggest go read the light novel. The manga is literally, and I mean literally, only half the story. The novel’s chapters feature two different main characters whose stories are told every other chapter. So the main character of the manga (Kumoko, the spider girl) [the one you read about in the manga] is told in Chapter 1 and Shin (one of her reincarnated Classmates) is a human prince and his story is started in Chapter 2. Back to Kumoko in Chapter 3 and so on. [Shin is not even present in the manga up until now]
After reading the Light Novel, the manga felt wholly incomplete. If you really truly get hooked on the story of “So I’m a Spider...” please find a light novel.
Not to mention the manga updates so fucking slowly it might as well be on hiatus. The Light novel has like 8 volumes and the manga is barely through half of volume 1.
Please keep in mind I dropped the manga (because I picked up the light novel) a good while ago, so the might have started Shin’s story now. But judging based on the release timings of the manga back when I was reading it, I very much doubt they are much farther than when I stopped. In fact, I doubt they’ve moved at all since I dropped it years ago.

@@abramblanca4206 I read the light novel a while ago, and there are several major plot points that you get relating to how the 2 characters stories interact, although Kumoko is still the main focus for the majority of the story (the swapping back and forth slows down and spends way more time on her)

@@abramblanca4206 Yes, as the others said, the Ln has Shin start out as one of the MC so that you can get some worldbuilding on what is happening outside of Kumoko's world (since she's trapped in the labyrinth for the the first section of the story). It really makes the story feel less flat and you can tell things are going to get spicy in the future.
I have no fucking idea why the manga adapters would just use Kumoko's story since it feels more like a shitty manhwa writing style without the worldbuilding created by the Shin sections. Having the story be only isolated in the labyrinth makes it feel super 1 dimensional where it's just "Oh, Kumoko finds a new enemy and has to fight."
Sure, they started introducing D and all that, but especially around this time (since you said the manga just got to where she's exiting the labyrinth for the first time) Shin's story really starts getting little connections to Kumoko's story outside of things like "oh we spotted a spider in the labyrinth 9 months ago".
I won't spoil anything, but the connection the two stories have is absolutely wild. I really suggest reading the Ln over the manga. When I said that the manga was only half I was talking about volume. In my real honest opinion it's more of a 'sum is greater than it's parts' deal. Kumoko's story without Shin's really just feels flat and boring outside of the original concept of "Reincarnated into a spider with game elements"... there's only so much of that you can enjoy. But, Shin's story really sets up the world and prepares it for Kumoko's entrance into it.
I remember the days when I would just pick a random manga just to give it a shot like MxO was really good and I wouldn't have even tried it if I had looked into it.
Cirque du Freak (The Saga of Darren Shan) is an absolutely fantastic vampire manga series from like 2009, which everyone should read. It's finished and it's fantastic. Though you need to buy the volumes after like chapter 80 because the scans online stop around that point. It's been officially fully translated thankfully.

Read the books and I vaguely remember that the first book actually made me cry. It’s was a good series of books even tho I think vampires are pretty overdone, it had very refreshing concepts. (Thanks for reminding me about the series unintentionally)

yo, as someone who reads more light novels its nice to see my own taste be confirmed by several reccommendations and animes created about the stuff i've already read or at least up-to-date on. So, can confirm, I'm a spider, so what? is amazing and really enjoyable even well into the story when she does genuinely become OP.
Death mage doent want a 4th time, is a bit slow and feels like a mix between slime and death march. But I personally like it. Others are about rightfully recommended. The suit one I actually havent heard of and will dive into.

Have you heard of the manga "The Climber" by Shinichi Sakamoto? It's weird that it is such a pleasant read with a great art which takes a dive into a world of mountain climbing, but almost nobody talks about it. I think you should check it out, it was a memorable experience

It an absolute amazing manga. Easily the best sports manga I ever read. Mostly because it talks about social anxiety. I also recommend other manga by shinichi sakamoto called innocent.
Just caught up with gleipnir I love the action mystery and dark theme of it 10/10 would recommend has a unique atmosphere and vibe the plot twist are also great

I have gone from full time gamer to full time manga reader, I've read about 100 different manga in the past 5 months, a bunch with multiple hundreds of parts, almost all ongoing. Only kept 45, and slowly the updates are becoming frequent enough that I can't add anymore because with work taking most of my day, I can read like 2 hours worth on work days and the updates take almost that amount daily. And I got here just like you, when I hit that last update I search for something more, currently returners magic, solo leveling and beginning after the end are top 3. Apotheosis and I am sorcerer King are also good contenders.

"Tenkuu shinpan" aka "high-rise invasion" actually needs more attention.
Mystery, horror, action, seinen, mature, and it's also an isekai but quite unique as it doesn't come from a novel source or anything(meaning it's Manga original) like all the rest of the isekai genres.
Good art style, decent story and season 2(of the Manga of course bcz there's no anime of it) is already out.
Right so a thing about Death Mage is that it is mostly MOSTLY just another isekai harem. It does have a genuinely good/interesting story or premise. But the author seems determined to keep adding to the MC's harem. I don't mind a harem. But I think right now in the story/light novel he has like 10 potential wives maybe a tad less. I feel like the author just keeps sliding them in there, when they don't need to as they have good characters and plot to use.

For those that are wondering if Duranki is actually good, yes it is. Definitely give it a read, the art is fantastic, and the story is compelling as well as still developing a over arching plot. It’s only got 6 chapters with one coming out soon.

I just started reading Jagaaaan and in the second chapter the MC refers to his hand being similar to Migi. There was most likely some inspiration but the idea as a whole seems pretty unique
