In retrospect, this ending is probably the most hopeful one. A cataclysmic event is halted and humanity is saved, but at the cost of the lives of the characters we've followed for hours. Caim's bloodlust was never quenched, Angelus helped the humans she despised one last time, Leonard suppressed his primal urge long enough to give his life for one final attack, Arioch unfortunately just gave into her madness, and Seere became a hero like he wanted.
    Humanity lives on.

@@atoaster9940 Time only stopped where the pillar was formed.
Looking at the cinematic shot from space, it shows that it covered nearly all of Germany.
(Odd because the Imperial Capital, where all endings take place (except E), is located in the middle of the Iberian Peninsula)
What's left of humanity outside the pillar will still be plagued by dragons, monsters, and maybe the Red Eye Disease, but it'll still live to see another day.
Least till God devises another way to wipe out humanity down the line.

@@OldTrench due to the human civilization collapsing all around the world with the cathedral city being seen as a safe haven, basically all of humanity in resided in Midgard by the events of Drakengard 1, if they got wiped out humanity would be no more in that timeline.

    • @OldTrench
      @OldTrench 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

It's really only stated that the collapse of the Eastern Roman Empire and Frankish Empire is what lead to the creation of Midgard. (The Cathedral City really only attracted the upper classes of fallen kingdoms i.e. the nobility and clergy)
There's just no real info on what happened to the rest of the world outside of Europe.
The immense population (even for the time) of the regions of India and China would definitely ensure humanity's survival.
Various tribes of all parts of the world would also be a backup, but at that point we'd be near extinct.

What i jnow is that he made a pact eith a golem and in order to do that he had to give something up: his time, his ability to age. At the end of the D route, golem says he has to break the pact and they do. So when the pact is broken... He got his time back... And then what? Did it go out of control and thats what caused it to be able to freeze time or what? I get why he did it, why he was able to do it, but not why it was this amplified

The songs of endings B, C and D are my favorites of the ost.
Speaking of favorites, after watching "Evangelion", I was afraid of losing my respect for "Drakengard", so I watched the first game again (but only route C and I used my imagination to turn routes B, D and E into a single one).
Best decision of my life, because it allowed me to gain a new appreciation for the characters, particularly Caim, that I failed to grasp the first time.
Now I understand that while he's a warrior and I'm a scholar, and even though I feel more compassion for children than he does, we might not be so different when it comes to how we feel towards our respective sisters and how we want the forces above us to see us.
I love my sisters too, but I don't see them much in my future, just like Caim doesn't see Furiae in his despite finding her adorable. And he wants God to remember him for all eternity as a warrior, just as I want to be remembered as someone who dances sloppily in the chaos while taking mental notes and commenting on everything like some sort of theatre play. My observations leaving everyone in awe due to how orderly chaotic they sound. We will both be remembered by our respective resilience.
This game is a masterpiece, the characters are masterpieces (with Caim, Angelus and Seere being relatable to me), and I apologize for saying I prefered "Evangelion" over "Drakengard". I prefer both in equal measure. It's a crime to put either below/above the other.
