I was happy to play a part in bringing you to MMMH. You are an outstanding artist and I enjoyed having the chance to meet you and hear you perform live. You are now part of a long tradition of artists from across the world to have presented programs for us. This new commission which had its world premiere at Methuen will always be a part of our history. Love your compositions. You are amazing!
This song was the recessional at my mother’s funeral. It was cathartic to hear it played so magnificently. Through your extraordinary talent, you are doing God’s work. Thank you Paul!
It was an honor to be part of the audience at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall to hear this premiere. Outstanding work, Paul. You are amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Through your composition, you take us on a wonderful journey through your intuitive and insightful interpretation of this simple, yet iconic work. Yougive us something new to consider or imagine in every measure and phrase. I think I speak for many (most?) who’ll listen & watch this weeks, months, years after it was masterfully produced and wish they had been there to hear its debut.
Wonderfully played on one of the most aesthetically beautiful organs and venues. Much enjoyed, and welcome to the US! Please come and perform for us as often as you can. Thank you, lieber Paul.
This is such a magnificent composition in a magnificent music hall. Wow! You also played this beautifully in West Raleigh Presbyterian, which I witnessed in person!
Wat a nice choice of combinations ! Of registration.. This Organ is Majestic ! Paul .. your performance .. was . Up... to the Climax ... Very Nice... Paul Thank you !
🎹🎼 Paul, this is superb! The timbral colors throughout this are one of a kind, absolutely great character! This has the most nuanced and elegant expression and tonal journey in your composition, and I say it from the bottom of my heart. It was indeed, a GIFT, to hear this!! 😊
Dear Paul, Thank you again for such a beautiful arrangement that touches the heart of those who listen. That’s the mark of a true artist and not just a technician. You never fail to touch my heart and continue to inspire me to master your pieces. Your music on the organ is inspiring a younger generation in my circle of friends and my students. God bless you! ❤
Thank you very much for the better than front row seat to this performance via video. I just became acquainted with your work last night when watching another one of your TH-cam videos. I subscribed instantly. Methuen is my Mecca. I have visited twice, and hope to do so again at least a few more times during my remaining lifetime. The photography you included of the organ and the hall is magnificent, and captures the beauty and grandeur better than any I have seen. This is just magnificent playing, composition and presentation all the way around. I look forward to following you here on TH-cam. Thank you for sharing your work with the public, and all the best to you in all of your endeavors!
Paul, this Fantasie on Simple Gifts is an amazing composition. It brought me to tears! I lived in Nashua, New Hampshire 17 years ago, about half an hour from Methuen and I went to several recitals at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall. That organ there is just amazing! I loved it.
Oh my word, what a beautiful organ with the most exquisit wood work I've ever seen. Then the magnificent depth of the music together with Paul's pleasure in playing, all comes together to give an altogether wonderful experience! Thank you Paul!
Who Paul 🤩, back to home after three inspection hard working days, I discover this recording (I waited these with impatience) and the result is so amazing with magnificent timbrals colors ❤❤. Dear Paul, thank you to share this piece with all us and I agree with others peoples, you are not only an organist but above all a real artist, your first US concert tour shows it so well (MMMH, Buffalo and so on) 👍👍👍👍
So wonderful Paul. I wish I could have attended your concert being so close! I only learned of it the day before and could not make it. Hopefully there is a next time..come over and see us again!
I've always loved the sounds of this organ but sadly have only been able to listen to recordings and never live. What a real treat it must have been for you to actually sit at this console and play it. I envy you. You did an excellent performance and I'll listen to this many times. Thank You for sharing this with us.
Paul-you have found the inner voices and meanings of this "simple" hymn and woven them marvelously for our ears. It's a profound total experience. Thank you. Of course, having the Germanic/American blend of organ stops and a wonderful room to enable your playing to blossom is the ultimate touch!
Was happy I could be there to hear it in person when you played it for the first time. Lovely arrangement. I hope the rest of your trip in the US goes well Paul. Hope you get a chance to get to Atlantic city and Wanamaker
I haven’t been there in decades for a number of reasons. Good to hear it again under such masterful fingers. Thank you, Paul, also for the composition. Very nice variations/settings of a lilting tune.
Wow! Paul you are a gift! This Fantasy on the Shaker Tune brought me to tears. I only wish I were able to be present at one of your US concerts. The organ at Methuen is a treasure, and so, Friend, are you. Bravo!
You outdid yourself in this version. Very nice, Paul. Maybe you better stay in the USA, We could use a good new young organist to tell it like it ought to be. Methuen concert was an amazing performance but this goes much further. Nicely done
I first heard the Methuen Hall organ on a TH-cam demonstration video by Balint Karosi. You certainly tamed that monster with "Simple Gifts". The concert there must have been great fun, as well as a challenge. From Chicago, U.S.A.
So Paul, you finally found the Mighty Methuen. I am glad you got to play it. You might want to visit 1st Congregational Church in downtown Los Angeles at 6th and Berendo. Aeolin, Skinner, Schlicker organ installed there. Very nice 🎨 there. .
An incredible composition based on the classic American folk tune, 'Simple Gifts'. Very innovative and imaginative variations throughout. The finale is especially 'spine-tingling'. It's a beautiful major work added to the organ repertoire. Paul, you have also edited a very beautiful video of this performance. Thank you for this wonderful Gift here today and it is definitely not Simple !
Today my congregation loved your new Concerto which I played interspersed through the service. A visiting organist asked "Who is this composer?" He is probably downloading from your website as I write this. Congratulations on this new piece...and thank you, Paul!
lovely Paul difficult to play in this setting being so exposed to the congregation -Lord of the Dance - a real foot tapper. Best wishes from Australia.
Hey, lieber Paul.
Akzent regelrecht in Panik geraten. Dann auf einmal gings und mein Deutsch ganz einfach wie gewöhnt floss. Die Menschen waren wie erwartet (wieder: Bach) stur aber so liebenswert. Ausserdem: alle als ob Musik Bestandteil des Blutes wäre. Das bist Du ganz sicher! Tty vielleicht, Mark (aus Arizona...Amerikas Sachsen!)
I’m curious as to what you think about these “American” organs, that you are playing while you are here in the US? Would you consider answering this, in some kind of video here on YT? (You always do so well on the European organs!)
Paul! I used to live in Methuen and spend many hours at Methuen Music Hall. Had I known you were there, I would have come to hear you! What were your impressions of the the instrument and the hall?
A remote console 6 feet away from the attached one.? Why would you play the remote one.? It looks like it can only go about 12 feet before falling off the stage. Great composition, terrible instrument (is the USA though).
@rowanlidbury, The organ received a new electric action and console when it was rebuilt and installed in Methuen. The original recessed console, from which it was impossible for an organist to hear the balance between divisions, was disabled. In contrast to most viewers' comments, your assessment of the organ is distinctly in the minority, possibly based on limited exposure to USA organs.
Matthew has explained it down below - the console is not attached to the instrument anymore to make it more versatile. You won’t fall off the stage either because IT IS movable 😂😂
@matthewbellocchio5877 I also wondered about the console behind the one Paul played. At first thought it was like the ones I've seen on some Johnathan Scott videos from the U.K. Bridgewater Hall. Both the attached and remote consoles were played. Thanks for the information. I also looked up the fascinating history of the organ. From Chicago, U.S.A.
@@matthewbellocchio5877well said Matthew! This is Andrew I’m going to give you a call this week there is an organ I want you to look at with me when you have some free time in New Bedford
Where's the thunder and 32 Ft reeds' ¿ A magnificent organ like that needs to be blasted and shake the rafters. The organ is beautiful. The music dull and boring. The last two minutes were great.
@mudgebauer Perhaps you should come hear the organ in person or listen to the video with high-quality speakers. The Methuen Memorial Music Hall is a relatively small concert hall which only seats 300. A French cathedral-style 32' Bombarde would be overpowering and totally out of place there. The Methuen 32' is a free reed (the only one at 32' pitch in the USA!) Instead of roaring and smashing one over the head, it grunts and growls.
This an awesome space and organ. Must visit when in metro Boston. ❤
Stunning organ, stunning composition, stunning performance. What is there not to like?! 🎉

Bravo for your initiative, it is so deserved for Paul👍👍
Oh, thank you so much, Richard!! I love that organ!

The crescendos in particular are quite thrilling - a real tingle effect
Thank you so much!! 😀

Hey Paul, I'm still on the road in the best weather and listen and wish you a good world premiere. 👍🏻🐧🐧🐧👍🏻👍🏻🎉

Fantastic, Paul! Most Americans don't know how to make that organ really "sing", but you do! 😆
