Question, in light of this. If a Christian has divorced and been remarried for over 30 years, are they living in perpetual sin, therefore lost? The couple are true believers in the saving grace of Jesus Christ through His death burial and resurrection. Thank you.

Living in perpetual sin (which every human being does in some form of degree, as no one can attain to the perfect righteousness of Christ in the flesh) has no bearing on whether an individual has everlasting life or not; having been received once and for all through faith alone in Christ alone.

@GESvids Thank you. I believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this is true. God bless you for sharing the truth of the Gospel.

In John 4 we learn of the woman at the well that she had been married 5 times and was living with a man who was not her husband. She told Jesus that she( presently) had no husband and Jesus affirmed that to be the truth. It seems that Jesus had respect to the divorce laws irrespective of the biblical grounds for her divorces .

Theres nothing in the bible that condones people living with intimate partners outside of marriage. A big misunderstanding in Jesus not reigning down people in their sin is his priority was to save souls by preaching the gospel. None was to say because he didn't reign down on the street walkers that he would want to fellowship or his body to fellowship with. All it is that a believer, just like Jesus, should look past a person sinning because the gospel saves the condemnation towards a person that dies in their sin, not believing.

But the church father Irenaus commented on woman at the well saying "who had committed porneia through her many marriages".
Just because "marriage" is affirmed, does not mean it's not sinful

What about if your spouse refuses to have regular sex with you? Is that considered sexual immorality?

That is VERY good Question and a reasonable one too. I know for one, It is a sin to withhold sex to your spouse unless there's a reason.

Jesus said the only divorce that can free a woman is divorced for the fornication she committed before the marriage
