Hi - this was on TV back in the 80's. I taped it as I did with anything that Rik was in and recently found the tape. Yes, a rare old clip I would imagine. Glad to let fans get to see it.
This was a one-off charity event held in Nether Wallop (which nobody had heard of before or since) as an "alternative" New Year's Eve TV to the White Heather Club with Andy Stewart in the mid-80's. It ran for about 4 hours, pseudo documentary on Nether Wallop, brilliant show from Billy Connolly was for me the star attraction. Many many acts appeared. The show was staged in a hastily put together marquee in a field or the local Village Hall. Can't quite remember. Got hazy towards the end as my then wife got more and more pissed off (she didn't enjoy any of the humour) and I got more and more drunk. (She went to bed before 12 !!!). I loved it, best show ever.
at 2:48 , Only this genius could turn a phrase into a classic with his voice and wicked facial expressions that many will never forget. You can see he was born to be on the stage. Still mind blowing on how he can steal a scene from the best British actors, in an episode of Black Adder named Lord Flash. One of a kind!
+twatlick knobcheese I love the fact that my late granddad found Rik Mayall hilarious. I would ask him "Did you watch Bottom last night?" And he usually did :)
quaid667 my dad would sit there with his younger late brother late at night whilst we were up in bed and all i could hear was them and their wives laughter!!
his timing is so excellent... so many musician-specific physical bits, ahahaahaa.... I wish he had done more songs... he would have had a beautiful voice if he wanted to!
LYRICS: You looking for trouble You've come to the right place You're looking for trouble Just look right in my face I was born standing up And talking back My daddy was a piece of real rich crap Because I'm evil! My middle name is Jeremy! Yes I am evil! So don't you mess around with me! I don't wipe my bottom When I go to the loo. I'm rude to policemen, And I pick my nose too. There's no stopping me! I'm bloody mad! I smoke marijuana and I don't go to lectures, Because I'm evil! My middle name is Jeremy! [kicks man in groin] Yes I am evil! So don't you mess around with me! Mess around everybody! Does ANYONE have the (i think) Royal Variety performance of Rik singing this - when Princess Anne was actually _in_ the audience! I remember watching it when I was young, but I've *never* seen it since!
Absofutelyfuckelybrilliant "snort" bill wymans face is genius( " i was in the stones you know") Rik Mayall Britains greatest funny man. Boy, how I miss you sir you have given me the greatest and best laughs of my life always have and always will xxxxx
Rik Mayall will be talked about and admired for a thousand years. Jools Holland will be a misspelled footnote in a fifth rate history of utter insignificance.
There are two occasions when I knew my life had changed forever: the first time I ejaculated and the first time I saw the hypnotic brilliance of Rik Mayall. Spunk everywhere. He could've been the fun David Koresh if it hadn't been for the real David Koresh turning rogue and giving cults a bad name. I never got to thank you Rik, for that first hit. I'm a lifelong addict. I'll never stop missing you. Love and Love.
Koresh did not give anyone a bad name. The authorities gave Dave a bad name. There was widespread support for him in USA. He was a talented musician too
Rik was a national treasure. Thanks for all the laughter you gave us. You made our lives much brighter.
Rik was the funniest person on tv. He would have me in stitches, i would be crying with laughter at times.
@@kevanbrown7620Agreed.
The line about Princess Anne gets me every time. RIP Rik. You will be missed.
Gets me too, I think it's the pronunciation of " Pwincess " that adds to it haha. Oh god, today is not a good day!
Very missed
Just the best line, where you can actually imagine Rik actually doing that...
God I miss him.....
This is absolutely brilliant. No-one has made me laugh as much in my life as Rik Mayall. Genuinely missed.
I remember watching this in ....whenever it was, about 1986, with my mum, now 88, and us both being in tears. Rik was a one off. Bless you Rik.
Fantastic!
"BLOODY HELL" followed by the greatest mic drop in history... Legend!
After several years I can't stop laughing at when he says
'I once showed my willie to Princess Ann'
Maybe if you was five
@@TheBishopofbattle You showed your willy to Princess Ann when you was 5???
@@TheBishopofbattleAbsolutely right! I was five once and I still laugh at that line 😂

Thank you.
You have made a lot of people happy mate, thanks

What a honour to have been there!

FlashHEART...
Utter utter utter utter utter Brilliance!!!!
Still funny after all these years. For me, it's that 'lunging side-to-side feet together, arms down dance' and bloody hell' at the end.
Followed by the immediate running off the stage
It's the spastic nervous dance of a weirdo genius like Rik. I'd imagine Peewee Herman or Mr Bean would be others who could pull it off.
Bill Wyman didn’t know what to think 😀
Rik was a comedy genius. ❤️
What a man! Much loved...much missed
The one dislike must be from Princess Anne!
ckolonko 😂😂😂
Nah she’d probably be flattered 😂
I've had a performance of this on cassette tape since forever, and it has NEVER failed to make me giggle like a twat.
Drat the peelers
@@jamespicksley5781 I see what you did there, clever trousers!
So missed. Absolute legend.
Just brilliant 👍⭐🎵
He's so cute there!
'Bloody Hell!'
The 'Evil' song should had been the Bottom theme tune.
God, that's a good idea.
To be fair though the bottom tune is brilliant and very fitting
He was brilliant. A true one of a kind.
I miss him sooooo much😢 Farty pants would've been 61 😮Bloody hell!!
R.I.P you were and always will be a legend and will be remembered always
Legend
Rick Mayell was such an original guy...nobody like him in the 80's and I adored him as a teen
Nothing makes me happy like The Rik Mayall makes me happy
I clicked on this with no expectations, especially since it involved Jools Holland, but it absolutely killed me. God I love wwwrrrvvvik
Class end of,great band line up to,rusty on drums bill on guitar and jools on the old joanna,RIP Rick life ain't the same without you.
What an amazing talent Rik was. Miss his humour so much.

RIP Rick you made the comedy that me an my best mate used to bounce off each other with
Yes...couldnt agree more with you there......people say that cleese, barker milligan etc were the greatest ever but this guy for me was.
+twatlick knobcheese I love the fact that my late granddad found Rik Mayall hilarious. I would ask him "Did you watch Bottom last night?" And he usually did :)

I love Weird Al and Rick Mayall. Both are amazing in their own way.
@2:35 This is how I'll always remember him!
R.I.P....awesome guy, great inspiration
Simply brilliant!

It’s Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones
Love!
rik - completely brilliant at comedy.

Awesome
Rik Mayall, dead and gone now. Yet James Corden is still breathing. Fuck it.
Magic.
When was an appearance by John Otway *not* bizarre?
I THOUGHT that was who it was.
Where is the bass coming from?
The power of youth.
There was only, ever... Him.

What year when this filmed?
when is this from?
'Bloody Hell!' 😂
And then the mic-drop decades before its time...
Yup. That's how you do it
I'm not sure what IT is, but that's definitely how you do it
A force of fucking nature.
This could be the funniest thing he ever did - inspired!
This would've been a good theme tune to the young ones!
Was that Otway?
He hasnt changed
Apart from no longer being alive? That’s quite a huge change in comparison to this footage.
So bill wyman has come from the biggest and greatest rock n roll n blues band in the world.. To this lol
Rik Mayall will be talked about and admired for a thousand years. Jools Holland will be a misspelled footnote in a fifth rate history of utter insignificance.
Oof someone sounds a little bitter . I mean I'm not a fan of Jools either but hey 🤷
@@Bruceykeys Nah, fuck Holland. My hate is based on objective fact.
clearly where gg allin got it all from. RIP rik.

Mike drop, then run like hell😅🤣
Bladdy Hell!!!
who's the drummer?
Gilson Lavis who was in Squeeze with Jools.
I'm sure Princess Anne was very impressed.
Anyone else think Jools looked a lot like Steve Coogan back then?...
Rickton Mays.
Bill Wyman
So no ones gonna mention Bill Wyman isnt playing bass lol
I would hardly call 3 members a big band.. Or is that the joke?
