    Evening Derek
    You got there in the end. And no leaks.
    Fingers crossed all improves, but the lack of heat is worrying.
    I was shouting at my TV at one point about the positioning of the rad.
    Interesting couple of video's tho.
    Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

    Smashed in some choccy biccys watching both of these. Best thing you did was not rushing and spreading over a couple of days. I would have lost my rag trying to do it in one afternoon lol👍

      Good man! I lost my rag anyway. Dropping clips and screws, and then leaving the rad rubber feet on the old one . . . and the captive nut . . . and the shroud screws . . . !

    We have done the same job as this+waterpump at the time, there's quite a bit to come out actually and in a certain order, if anyone is replacing the thermostat use new spring clips or high quality jubilee clips otherwise it can come off from experience unfortunently. Good video and shows lots of details, doing the job over a few days is nicer as well if you have the time and luxury as you know what working on these D2s can be like 🤣 something always breaks or goes wrong due to age.

      Er, okay, I'll change them next time . . . Never thought far enough in front to get some new jubilee clips or else I would have. Those spring clips are a nightmare. Did the new waterpump make a difference? That was on my list of suspects.

      @@sleepycatpictures1176 they may be absolutely fine just had a bad experience and wanted to share it with others checking the comments, you can buy long reach removal tools for spring clips and they make hard to reach/little access easier. The engine ran a little quieter when the water pump was changed, when taking it off it was all gummed up inside and you could hear the bearings crunching the new pump was smooth.

    You'd do well to get yourself some remote hose clamp pliers. Google em. Those spring clips aren't actually too bad and worth keeping. They are self tensioning and usually don't slacken off over time, which hose clamps can do sometimes. A universal cooling system pressure test kit is also a good investment, to check your work after doing any cooling system jobs and remove any air from the system.

      Hose clamp pliers? On my shopping list!
      Cooling system pressure test kit? Didn't even know that they made them!

    Hi Derek, you realy need to invest in a something like Blue Spot 07921 Flexible Long Reach Hose Clamp plyers'. Quick hint on taking off viscouse fan. spanner on the bolt and a swift knock with hammer to the left. I was unlucky with the pipes had to change them all when i chenged the thermostat.

      Hi Martin. I'm hoping not to have to do this too often! Hoses were good, fortunately. I spent so much time on those blasted clips. Time to go shopping I think!

    I cringed at you putting the rad bad with bent fins. You've lost cooling efficiency by having bent fins as air can't pass through. A radiator comb tool would solve this also a pair of hose clip pliers would make your life easier. Right tools for the job.

    • @sleepycatpictures1176
      @sleepycatpictures1176  ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely agree with all of your comments! The camera angle made the rad look worse than it was.
