This video is a lifesaver. I have a 2012 ZRE182R Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport Hatch and the method in this video was exactly what I needed to replace my side mirror (mine was the passenger side mirror). I am very much a novice in terms of DIY repairs/changes to cars and even this was simple to do based on the clear instructions in this video.

Did you have to disconnect and reconnect the door handle wires (the ones that the handle actually connect to to mechanically open the door)? If so, is it easy to do?
I have a grey one but got sent a black mirror can I replace the plastic back caps? Meaning can I take off the grey back cap from mine and put it in the new one?
Use your fingernail between the coloured cap and the surround to start removing the cap. Then use a piece of flat plastic (e.g. an old credit card) to work around the cap it should come off easily. Take your time and don't force it as the clips on the cap can snap. To replace the cap, line it up and press gently and it should just snap into place.
I just need to change the glass or figure out how to pop it back in with out it falling out everytime i close the door. Do you have a vid for that? 2016 Toyota Corolla, my chick tried to pull to the side of the road after a cop behind her hit his sirens and ran around her but in the middle of trying to pull to the side she hit a trash can with the mirror which closed and works but the glass cracked. I’m fine with the cracked glass it’s the fact that it pops out everytime we close the door.
There is prongs in the back of the mirror that you need to wedge something to unhook from the mirror. Some times you can grab the pointer side of the mirror and with some force pull the mirror off. If you need this mirror for your car go to www.Revemoto.com
You have a 50/50 chance. We have seen with some models that the option works. For example, the power fold option for the Tacomas works on every Tacoma, you just need the mirror. I would start by checking the forums and looking at the pin diagrams for mirrors to see if they are identical. Good luck!
We don't have the car anymore but this video is step 1. You would have to disconnect the wire harness from the door. Then the door is just held on by 4 bolts. Transferring the door internals can be a pain. Thanks for watching!
This is just a terrible design by toyota. If they put the power plug up in the mirror instead of door panel, the replacement can be done in 10 minutes or less. Btw. If it is just a broken glass. You can replace the glass in 1 min and cost around $20 without the need to take out the mirror No need to replace the whole thing.
Hi. It's definitely much easier to have the plug closer to the mirror. Yes, you can just pop the glass off the motor. It's only held on by plastic clips/tabs. I'm not sure how much the glass retails for but it is cheaper than a whole mirror. Thank you for watching!
A terrible design for us, but since popping that door interior off would dissuade many of us from trying a DIY, it's a wonderful design for the Toyota mechanics' bottom line!! 😁😁
Auto makers just don't give a shit about user-serviceability any more and most customers incentivize that. Manuals used to show you how to change out your spark plugs, now they tell you not to lick the battery terminals.

I did it without removing's the door panel. It seemed simpler to me. Went perfectly.

Oh yes that is very easy. There is a tab you press down to release the wire. Then all you have do is plug it back in. Super easy

I believe it wouldn’t work because you would need terminal wires to connect to it

Nope! The controller might be slightly different, but you do disconnect and remove it just like the driver's side.

Terrible design I just changed one for a 2006 Nissian Altima it was really easy done under 5 minutes with less labor and tools
