Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and was translated into a pop song for Lara. She wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash, Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, …
They made great covers but none of these match the storytelling amazing performance of Lara in this concert From Lara with Love.
Her italian version is also amazing.

Ce concert était prévu pour les USA mais Sony et René ne voulaient pas faire de la concurrence à Celine !Lara aime beaucoup Céline, elles ont fait l Eurovision en même temps, Céline 1ère Lara 4eme! Céline a toujours refusé de chanter avec Lara!ce qui est risible c'est que Céline chantée que des chansons de j.jacque Goldman notre Star et chouchou des Français !Lara parle 4 langues et chante en 12, elle a écrit plus de 200 chansons ! Elle a eu beaucoup de misère dans sa vie et a bien galéré !
