Welcome to the club. I walked away from 44 years of A’s fandom about two months ago. Haven’t watched any baseball since and don’t miss it at all. Too much garbage at the top to bother with it. And it's not just baseball where he's like this as he is also the owner of the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS. Apart from a few years in the early 2010's & this current season (more to do with the coaching than anything else) the Quakes have been an embarrassment to MLS during his time as owner & right up there with Meritt Paulson in Portland & AEG with the LA Galaxy as the worst owners in the league. Heck John Fisher almost moved the Quakes to Phoenix if he didn't get the land & some taxpayer money from San Jose to build PayPal Park. I doubt that he has ever attended a Quakes match during his time as an owner.

He might want to win but obviously not in Oakland. He intentionally tanked the team, raised ticket prices and pocketed the revenue into hopes of building a compromised stadium in the desert far away from the Oakland Athletics home base. He's flat out willing to disregard us and trade his loyal, passionate fans for profit and no matter how he tries to sugar coat it there is a better deal in Oakland yet he's infatuated with Las Vegas. I wish MLB would make him sell the team and allow him to be the owner of a bonified Las Vegas expansion team. How can an entire REGION be against something so wrong yet the rest of the nation is captivated by us and what's happening to our team and one guy has the power to ruin everything??

Fisher is damned if he speaks or doesn't speak. Nothing he can say will assuage A's fans because now that he decided in favor of Vegas he has to be all in regarding Vegas. There is no good way to relocate a team. Hearts will be broken and people will be angry. Just ask "San Diego" Chargers' fans. I'm sure thousands of Oakland Raiders' fans feel betrayed and abandoned. Sports is big business. Teams require modern state of the art facilities to play in. Fisher, rightly or wrongly, is convinced that Vegas is his only solution. It remains to be seen whether he can get it done. Plenty of challenges and pitfalls lay ahead for him and his family. Until he's convinced that Vegas won't work be prepared to see or hear him down play whatever progress may have been made in Oakland. To him, it's Oakland that failed, not him. But it's not over until it's over as a wise man once said.

I'm just going to push the stadium issue aside... If John Fischer really wants to win, he should've put money in on that 2018 - 2021 team and got pitching/reinforcements. WE HAD A WORLD SERIES CALIBER TEAM ON THE FIELD with Oly, Chappy, Semien. I feel like the A's were not aggressive enough in reinforcing that team and they spent the 2020-2021 offseason not making a single move (I think it wasn't until February when they got Cole Irvin and Rosenthal). 2020 or 2021, the bullpen was gassed in the second half. I'm just tired of the whole rebuilding phase and then when you got the team on the field, they don't spend.

Even though he would clearly prefer for the A's to remain in Oakland, he stuck to the facts and only minimally injected his opinion. Even when Brodie asked leading questions, Raj kept an even keel and remained professional. The takeaway is that A's ownership has maintained all along that they could not increase spending on players until they got their stadium situation resolved. We shall see what happens. @@aspireahead8388 Wouldn't you, if the owner of your favorite team, basically showed his/her entire ass to the fanbase by not actually investing in the team or interacting with the fanbase under any circumstance and when accountability is demanded, wants to be secretive?

Fisher may or may not spend in Las Vegas, but the Oakland Coliseum does NOT have the luxury boxes MLB teams require today to boost revenues significantly. While the new baseball stadiums are getting smaller with seat capacity, the newer baseball stadiums have dozens of more lucurative luxury suites even in the AL West. Houston, Arlington, and Seattle. Furthermore the Angels will probably be getting a new stadium within this decade as well, if not another refurbishment Oakland never did. Its hard to compete economically within your division if you have the worst stadium generating the least revenues... PERIOD...

Just a reminder to everyone else, Fisher owns the San Jose Quakes as well. Giving up the Gap was easy (their product sucks now), but Almost made the mistake of getting Quakes tickets which then would feed Fisher’s pockets.

He’s the worst owner in pro sports. Definitely not motivated to win, which is the whole point. Sometime many years ago, winning as the goal shifted to making a profit in baseball. The sport is in serious trouble.

his responses are very scripted. he went radio silent with Raj, so his lawyers could right possible answers to any questions. He wants Vegas so the investors can do the funding of the team that he hasn't done over the years. If he was hurt by the Sell Movement, as a "fan" he would have said something before now.. #babygap is a failure.
    #selltheteam
