JFallacy I was matched with fire protection...then got disqualified because eyesight isn’t correctable to 20/20. Now they are pushing me for an open general contract :/ good luck to you!

@@TH-camUser-mg1tz just take your time with everything. basically everything is evaluations so if you miss a single crucial step you could fail the entire objective. its alot of fun so unless you dont want to be a firefighter you will graduate.
I literally only want this and loadmaster. I’m already a firefighter hopefully it gives me a advantage.

How can I increase my chance of getting fire protection? Does going into the Air Force with emt certification and having passed a cpat test increase the odds?

You should do a 2A5X1B video, or any crew chief AFSC, It was hard for me to find any info about it when I joined

@@jakesnake6842 yea I ended up waiting, though only for 2 months to get my job. I hear that different regions have a different likely hood of jobs coming up. I’m currently in tech school right now
Thank you for explaining the DEPS. I want to go in for firefighting too and that’s all I’m taking. Also, should I directly tell my recruiter all I want is firefighting or just wait it out.

was it hard to get FIre protection job? its my dream job but im unsured if its hard to get.
Why do you need normal color vision for this job?
😂I pushed for sensor op and am not in a rush at all and my recruiter knows this but pushed me for everything I didn’t want then I was like I’ll ask for an easy one to get (security forces) nope he couldn’t even give me that than I was told to pick fire so I was like okay. hopefully I like it honestly it doesn’t sound as interesting as my other 2 options. I leave in 2 months

How is upgrade training done for the reserves? Is it done immediately after tech school like you’re on active duty or is it done over the span of 1 weekend per month until complete?
You’d be “active” until you’re done training you’d do it with everyone else
If you did a civilian fire academy and have all your certs do you need to do the academy all over again in tech school?
Isaac Rodriguez yes you do, because being DOD certified for firefighting is required for the military.
Do you have your emt or paramedic ?
I just spoke with my recruiter for my career in fire but she told I would have to have other options. Do I provide her with more options or just tell her this is what I want and I will wait.

Hey I was thinking of becoming an Air Guard Firefighter. I have an active DoD Clearance but I'm colorblind. Do I stand a chance?
My recruiter told me not having full color vision was disqualifying

Shipping out to basic on September 8th for Fire Protection. I’m a civilian volunteer firefighter at the moment so I’m super excited to be able to land this job. Does anyone have any recommended bases for the dream sheet, overseas or nationally?
Can you give me some info on how you got the job? I have my emt, year and a half firefighting experience and graduated a fire academy with over 920 hours of training.
I'm in cadets, can't wait to be a Super Hero😅

@@stevenelvisfit3195 It depends on what certs you have. Most likely, you'll at least have to go through and do Airport Firefigher.
Long as you have Fire I/II, EMT, ARFF and HAZMAT A/O, you will still go to tech school but won't be there long.
Negative on all. You can be a full blown fire fighter in the biggest city, but if you’re not DOD certified you have to go through everything. But at least you’re getting paid through it lol

Im so confused about if i want civilian FD or Airforce FD there both so different in learning could you help if you can. like you I love helping people and the Fire Department I have since I was 13 I just in love with both things my fire capt Told me to do both but idk which one to do first because you have to start the schooling all over again
I’m kind of in the same boat! I’m looking at joining the guard for fire protection and getting all my certs thru the guard and then getting a job at a civilian FD when I get back from bmt and tech school
@@kaitlynb.776 That was my route i was taking I just don't want to make the wrong choice if i dont like the gaurd
Military firefighting is not what you want. It is extremely boring and you may find yourself working with and being supervised by people who do not know what they are doing. There is extremely little opportunity for experience in military firefighting. If you want to be a firefighter and actually do the job go civlian on a civilian department. Get as far away from the DoD as you can. You may need to be a veteran to get onto a big civilian dept or you may need to be an emt/paramedic. Do your research. Message me if needed. Please take my advice. If anything go guard but active duty will take 4-6 years from your life you cannot get back.
Kent Parsons is it a decent enough job to do in the guard? Do the certifications carry over to civilian firefighting at all?
Kaitlyn B. Hi! Yeah its a great job in the guard. Some certs carry over completly, some dont depending on the fire department youre trying to get hired on. Check with the dept you want to work for to see what they accept.
