Thank you. Nice solution. Just my opinion, but I think strengthening bars across focal points of a panel, like the center rondel, can distract from the beauty of the panel. Would it be ok to place two bars on the panel? One at each of the horizontal lead lines about 1/4 of the way from the top and bottom of the panel, and still get about the same strength? I realize that is twice the work and materials, and the customer may not want to pay for that.

Yes - you always have to consider strength to aesthetics and there are different solutions. I put this bar in the middle because the bar had originally been in the middle so that was what the customer expected. And in fact, once a bar is in place, people tend not to notice it even if it's bang smack in the middle.

Thanks for your reply. You are right re people not noticing the bar! It is amazing what the mind can do when it wants to do something. @@SophiesStainedGlass

Very cool. Is there a reason not to twist the wires more tighter?

I just judge it each time. I guess I worry that I don't want to over tighten and pull the window forward.

This is a very strong strengthening but very ugly. Would restrip be a better option and not ugly.

Yes, I agree, not very beautiful (I didn't care for the design either) but it was what the customer wanted.
