Can you please tell me the difference between glazing putty and what other studios are calling lead light cement. I have spoken to people restoring lead lights and they swear there is a difference but when you look at the ingredients for normal glazing putty it is also made up of calcium carbonate and linseed oils which is the main ingredients for lead light cement recipes.
Putty is lead light cement before the blacking component is added. Putty is grey. Otherwise the components are the same, although lead light cement can sometimes have a bit more linseed oil added to make it softer. The linseed oil evaporates over time which sets the putty/cement.
I am so glad I found this.....I was shown this a long time ago but it seems a very rare technique....thanx

So my putty is the right sort, but it is sticky as anything and not like yours. Have I over-heated it in the microwave or something?
