This Magellan fight is still to this one of the most one sided fights I've seen in One Piece, Luffy stood no chance at all and that's such a great thing for the story as a whole like you mentioned.
the anime is trying to not catch up with the manga, which means that it is going to have a pacing slower and slower. At the start, there were 2 manga chapters per episode, currently, it's more like 0.75 chapter to 1 chapter per episode. And as of episode 1000+, it's nearly 0.5 chapter per episode. (and note that a chapter is 15 pages, the anime episodes being 20min). So yea, it's not going to be better.
That's true but lately the manga chapters are way more dense and contain way more info and stuff happening than they used to. Even tho the pacing is still a problem can't wait for the wit remake
I think you already knew this so you figured it out but just to clarify, logia is specifically things that the world naturally creates, so light , sand, lightning, etc. Magellan has the venom-venom fruit which is a paramecia, but people do tend to confuse him (and especially another character who you'll not see for a long time) for logia types because of how their devil fruits' abilities look and the no-touching clause attached to them and because the categorisation for paramecia isn't exactly the clearest its easy to understand why. anything that isn't a zoan(creatures of all kinds, also has multiple sub-categories like the ancient zoan seen in sabaody) or a logia is a paramecia.
Tbh i wouldn't place luffy in the warlord catagory. Crocodile was very very rusty due to a long period of inactivity and he did beat luffy twice before. As for Moriah he is just a loser who probably shouldn't be a warlord. Kuma is probably a better measure of a warlords strength and If we look at how badly the crew struggled with a kuma clone it's kinda telling there is still a way to go.
Bruh, why are you cutting Croc so much slack, when Moria performed so much better than he did? Lol. If Luffy didn't get a one time only arc specific power up that made him way stronger than he had ever been in his life, Moria would have clowned the entire crew with minimal difficulty. Croc got the piss slapped out of him by a pre Gears Luffy by comparison. 😭 Moria might be the weakest Warlord, but he's still far stronger than current Luffy.

The fact that Luffy could hit Magellan means he's a paramecia. His poison works more like a coating, the same as Mr. 3's wax.
