    You have taken a very complex action sequence and broken it down into logical sub-actions. You are the first person to properly explain arm pronation to me. You have provided great modelling. This is some of the best teaching practice I have seen on TH-cam. Well done and thank you so much - I can't wait to improve my serve!

    This is a selfless, non showy, well presented, well constructed, well articulated, first class lesson. Have not seen one like it and I have looked at quite a lot. I have been trying to copy Djokvic. Lots of double faults- discouraged. Other videos are too wordy or not comprehensive as this one is. AM

    Toughest stroke in tennis, imo.......hard to develop muscle memory. Can practice all day and get in a groove, but lose the feel during matches. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together.

      +Rick Martin I have a hard time with my serve as well. But in fact, I believe a serve could come easily. You know exactly where the ball will be and you have already positioned yourself to hit it. We overthink the serve and try to hard mentally and physically to master it. I think if you would tell a child to toss the ball up and hit it, it would soon make the right motion without getting further instructions.

      +Marco Grieco I beg to differ. I have seen quite a few kids starting to try serves. Non of them can figure out continental grip pronation by themselves. Not even the smartest or the most athletic kid. The motion is just not intuitive.

    • @MARC0K0ELN
      @MARC0K0ELN 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think you are right. After still working on my serve, often with the help of Feel Tennis' clips, I realized that the motion ist not intuitive.

      I've never really had a guaranteed second serve. I am self tought through just playing and the serve has always been my achilles heal. I stopped playing 10 years ago and only recently started playing again and noticed that I felt really uncomfortable in my serve motion which would explain why the toss and direction was so erratic and why my shoulder hurts the day after. Your video has helped me understand what I'm doing wrong. Ty.

    I used to play tennis EVERY DAY from ages 14-20, I got pretty good, but then school/work/life got in the way and I completely quit playing. At almost 28, I finally picked my racket back up (and yes, the same racket and strings from 8 years ago), started watching your videos, and practicing every day. Within 2 weeks of very intentional drills, mentally going through all your videos, and having an open mind, I already feel like I'm better than I was 8 years ago. Your videos are truly phenomenal, you're an amazing teacher!

    This video gave me the breakthrough I needed to begin using an advanced serve. I am 3.0 player that struggled with serve toss and consistently getting my serve in play (a good day was 30% of serves). Prior to watching this video I was practicing my serve daily but was seeing very little improvement. After two 100 ball sessions practicing your "bounce" to pronate drill, my contact consistency and serve accuracy substantially improved. I was so exhilarated with the improvement gained in a short period of time! I am very motivated to trust your training recommendations to continue progressing. Thank you so much for your help!

    First of all, I wanted to say that this is by far the best tennis online training series available, very deep, articulate and mind opening. I’ve improved my game dramatically, not by following some gimmick drills that many other channels present, but by gaining understanding of body mechanics and also mental aspect of the techniques. This video is also very great. I struggle with the serve, no matter what I do I end up opening the racquet too early in a classic “waiter’s serve” form. When I film myself, even when I’m convinced I did everything right this time, when I then watch the video of myself in slow motion I can’t believe I somehow manage to again do the waiter’s tray serve. It feels as if someone was pranking me by swapping the video :) It is interesting to see that in this video you actually also open the racquet very early and point its face to the sky. It’s at 4:32 in slow motion example of the serve pronation. I understand that this is not a complete serve and just a movement of the arm so that could be the reason, but it’s clear the waiter’s tray form creeped in there too. Can you please comment on that?

  • @zimbabweyadzoka

    Best instructional video about serve on TH-cam. I used this video to teach my daughter (10) serve when she was transitioning from the 'waiter' serve to the 'hammer' grip. The results were instant. Now my 10 year old daughter has now reached 115 kmh (about 71 mph) from about 80 in 8 weeks or so. It's amazing. I must also mention that she is also using the serve master, nice tool. Thanks Tomaz, thanks FEEL TENNIS INSTRUCTIONS.

      I want to know after the pronation if is there a flexion of the hand on the forearm just after the impact with the ball ?

    • @feeltennis
      @feeltennis  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, we don't hit the serve with the flexion of the wrist as that would lose the stability of the stroke. The flexion you may see sometimes after the contact is because the player starts to relax since the ball is gone and the work has been done so there's no more need to maintain any tension.

    The best serve tutorial I've ever watched. Easy and simple. 90% of my serves go in after practicing this. Before trying the "fancy" stuff everybody should go through this. Thank you Tomaz!!!

    Your videos have dramatically helped my serve. I have been trying to figure out how to get more power and after watching you explain that the hips move forward as the racquet drops has been a complete game changer for me. Much more power now! You're a very good instructor. Thanks a lot!

    Your teachings are amazing. I have imperceptible my techniques so much with them. And I feel like I am also less exposed to injuries by doing things properly. Thank very very much from Guatemala for taking the time to share your knowledge.

    Best tennis serve video I've ever seen on YT. Just went to the court yesterday, tried 3 hours to correct my biomechanics of serve, although I've made big improvement since the beginning and I can serve really fast serves; but I always knew thanks to some ppl watching and warning me that the technique still isn't right. Yesterday I tried so hard to make it right, yet I was still trying to hit right away without completely releasing my should and arm, because I lack the knowledge that I needed to finish extending my arm first! now I get it totally, it is down to putting it into practice now. Thanks so much, I now totally have confidence that this will be the last time that I struggle to make things right on my serve and putting my rivals in trouble :D Highly appreciate your effects, thanks coach!

    Just started watching. I love all your tips. I like the 2 angle visual. I have been not been using this and will not start. Also as every serve tip advises; pronate. I like the tip pronate in the straight angle. I'm a 3.5 player and one thing I seen as I move up is a lot of guys with average serves at 3.5(often myself). It really makes for some long drawn out points and makes it where you really have to work to win a match. I was at 3.0 for a while and luckily my serve got to a point(at that level)where I could really overtake guys at end up winning most of my service games. Huge advantage.

    Having only recently started playing tennis I was constantly being told my serve will be great once it starts going in, trouble is I practice so much I quickly developed tennis elbow and had no second serve. When it was in my first serve was great, trouble is the percentage of first serve was barely 20%. Watched so many videos but none transformed my serve instantly as this one did. Whilst I've not adopted all the mechanics described I did learn the pronation as taught in this video which upped my first serve percentage instantly, more importantly with pronation I no longer have tennis elbow and can serve for hours without searing pains. I have also adopted the hip thrust for my second serve, coupled with correct pronation actually delivers a fairly hefty second serve speed with a very high success rate. I do still double fault but as an absolute beginner I've achieved in months what others take far longer to do. This video instantly transformed my serve. Great video, great break down of the elements and well worth the time investment. Thanks

    Hi this is a great video I recommend everyone to watch this it has really helped with my serve which I thought was good before it's now got even better.
    What I think would be really helpful is if we were able to download a summary sheet we could take to the court with us as there is quite a lot of information. Just a thought! :)

    Thank you. sir. I really enjoyed your serve instruction. I watched this several times in order to be internalized in me. But bearing this in my mind is different from what I actually do. Maybe, my body is so accustomed to my weird service form that it can hardly correspond to new service style that you have taught. I think I need to practice many many times. I have a problem in tossing the ball. Whenever I try to toss the ball for service, my left arm becomes paralyzed so I can hardly raise it. How can I solve my toss problem? Thank you, again

    Im a badminton coach of 6 years and this is 85% how I teach the overhead swing for my beginners! So validating to see another racket sport coach teach the same way regarding the backswing setup, execution and followthrough!
    Really like how your cue for the swing is "leading with the edges." That's going to save some time when I start coaching again in spring!

    I really needed this my playoffs are tomorrow and my serves are good but I knew I was doing something wrong because my wrist kept hurting afterwards and I have a habit of double faulting a lot I know this video is 4 years old and no one is probably gonna see this but thank you so much 🙇‍♀️
