Very nicely demonstrated. I have watched most of your videos and I like how you explain 1)mechanics and then 2)rhythm and feel. It's easy to focus so much on mechanics that we never get that loose feel. Really liked your video on "throwing/guiding" the racket head. I get so much easy power now. It takes a lot of confidence in the mechanics to be able to do this but it definitely work - indeed with less effort. Thanks and keep up the excellent work.
Covjece bozji, ovo je genijalno objasnjeno. Dugo nisam cuo da netko ovako jednostavno a sazeto govori. Ritam je jako vazan. Bravo majstore . Inspiriras ljude. Pozdrav iz Zagreba.
This works really well for me (intermediate player, 4.0). When I force the drop to happen (try to copy the pro's), it slows my swing down and the drop itself is not very deep. The rhythm 1....... 2!!! works great to fix it (let the racket drops by itself). You are an amazing coach!
Merci. Continuez votre bon travail.
Excellent as usual Thomas ! I like the simplicity of the 1 and pause 2 count . The explanation on tension on second serve hits home for me. I practice my serve often and in match play because of tension often loose my practice rhythm. My goal will be to maintain my ( 1 and 2 practiced rhythm during match play ) Thank you so much for your insight in Feel Tennis .
Brilliant. I think that if more players focused on this one aspect of the serve, their game would immediately go to a higher level. Also at around 3:00 Thomaz brings up the point of how pressure situations when competing can cause us to speed up thus introducing muscular tension that disrupts a natural and efficient service rhythm. I play a lot of doubles, and I see this with players all the time. Takeaway for me is to master the 1-2 service rhythm, continue to checkpoint it during practice and competition, and counter any tendency when serving during a match to deviate from that. Thanks Thomaz!
Thanks I am watching your videos and I am taking notes are really very thick lessons Congratulations a lot of high quality material for free ... just fantastic
i found power in my serve with Thomas' instructions. he knows his thing. if you want to learn how to serve, just watch his videos instead of watching numerous different instructors.. that will get you confused. the 1-2 rhythm he explains here? the 2 part is very important if you want power in your serve
i thank you so much for showing it how to serve properly.although i was doing good racquet drop only after wstching these videos i gained confidence that i am going in the right direction.thank you so much.even some pros would benefit from full understanding what happens in serve motion
my count is 1-2-and-a-3... 1 lift the the ball up ... 2 release, see the ball rise.. and-a is my delay with the drop.. 3 is contact...in musical notations: it's 2 quarter notes (1 + 2) followed by an 8th note and a 16th note, and the strike is a whole note... i do this for the first forward serve and 2nd top/side spin serve where the toss and swing directions are different, but the tempo is the same. It really helps my consistency.
Thanks for your important informations , IAM a coach but I usually didn't think to teach my players the rythem , how ever it's a good start to play a good serve
+Adrian Bacea Most people are way too conscious and they can't possibly bring down the serve to just 2 or 3 steps. The goal here is to make the trophy-to-drop phase unconscious so you work only with 1-2 rhythm with some time delay.
As usual, a very interesting view of tennis, but aren't you not running the risk of encouraging a stop in what should be (according to most tennis coaches) a continuous motion ?
i watched your RF serve slow motion and yours serve motion.pros extend the right arm so much more:) to me it feels sometimes my arm will detach from the body its not the most pleasant of the feeling if repeated lik 60 times in a row....i suppose body has to adjast throwing that arm to the widest possible point:) for your motion it looks as if there are 20 cm more you could have streched your arm before the contact
As usual, a very interesting view of tennis, but aren't you running the risk of encouraging a stop in what should be (according to most tennis coaches) a continuous motion ? Sorry about the bad grammar on the first message.
I’ve struggled for years with my serve. What’s funny is I’m very happy with my overhead. Lots of pop. My serve seems more like I’m just pushing racquet to ball. I’ll try your idea. It’s exactly what I would like to do. As a 13 yr old kid I shotput a lot and was quite good. But in high school baseball I had terrible arm. Poor throwing ability. Maybe shotput ruined me.
orsom .Many beginning servers do swing fase 1 to quickly, thinking they dont have time and as you mention looks very stiff and rushed comming to the pro.. face (2) I ask them did"t /don"t you learn to throw in school ? Specially Wimen/girls was never tought really to through a ball.
I like your form to explain but it helps not for every case) Sounds good but not the real analyse of service improvement. But Tnx a lot of your opinion
I do not agree with that concept 1-2. The racket drop exists and it happens in a certain amount of time. Being conscious it is slow and controlling the loose feeling does not imply crispation. The phases of gestures that require looseness should not be avoided to avoid crispation. Interesting video anyway.
The best tennis instruction in the web. Thanks!

such a very useful advice on the rhythm of the serve! I tried it today and found it very helpful indeed. Thumbs up for you!
The only question is Why ho Why are you so good at what you do? never the less thanks again for the detail, The truth is in the detail, not the devil.
An excellent video... I could never do the service consistently. I would start practicing this from today... Thank you very much Thomas.
i thank you so much for showing it how to serve properly.although i was doing good racquet drop only after wstching these videos i gained confidence that i am going in the right direction.thank you so much.even some pros would benefit from full understanding what happens in serve motion
Another point of view I like is simply that at any time of the serve, one should relax as much as one can. The less effort as possible.
you are a terrific coach. You break it down and keep it simple....thanks
Thomas can you do a video for the second serve drill please. I really like the way you teach. Thanks

Makes a lot of sense to me, thank you!
You are brilliant , the best i ever seen .
Loving these videos.
Brilliant video and so easy to understand.... your a natural teacher - keep up the good work.
muy claro!!! muy bueno!!!! Gracias!!!! saludos!!!!
The man's a genius!
very interesting, in depth analysis of the things that we're doing unconscious.

Feel Tennis Instruction I see what you did there :)
excellent thomas
Thanks thomas, i cant wait to practice this drill
Am I the only one with the heartbeat to test this this weekend?
Thomas you are so good but did you do a video on where the ball should be tossed coordinates?
Excellent. thoughtful analysis.
thank you best advised me. so i practice with bossanova rhythm my serve . It's work.
Very well explained !!
Very nice
very nice and very tropical ;)
wow!!!! sir thank you again for this, very well explained
Really good advice as usual :) Thanks a lot, it helps !
My goal is to get that sound @7:44 from my serve. It's like did somebody just pop open a can of Pringles from the 90s?
Thank you for the demonstration. but it's very very difficult for me to do service with delay. I guess practicing only doesn't make a good service.

the only stop is when holding the trophy pose which is what most tennis players do
exactly!

Is it the same rhythm for groundstrokes and volley?
Try this approach for groundstrokes: th-cam.com/video/re6rDiYr1PQ/w-d-xo.html

Hi Tomaz is it posible to send you a video to tell me how am I doing the serve?
Sure, contact me through my website.

Let’s overlook the footfaults 🤷♂️
Sounds like a Slovenian accent.
