The parhfinding is mindblowing. Wasn't there one boss in the volcano and you lose like 50 percent of your dinos because they fall into the lava? Now imagine they all find their way to he arena.

I love the trade off of taming babies, you get an easier tame, but no bonus taming levels. Its great for creatures where I want one but don't care as much about the stats. instead of wasting tranqs and waiting an hour for them to eat you can just get one real quick
Ya, it eases the early game start, but you get "penalized" for it.
Just good enough to get established, but not dominate.

Weird, my friend and I tested this last night and the baby got the 100% taming bonus. Might be a server thing or an update changed that?
I personally love the long foliage, not only because I absolutely love foliage just in general but because it adds so much immersion. In a real jungle scenario there is stuff hiding in the tall dense foliage and it's terrifying! 😁
When you get to a mountain you can't see anything at all it's so bad
I'm loving it! It gives me proper motivation to pave over places in my base!
It also has a really nice feature! When you place down foundations the foliage unloads! It's just ground texture now! No more grass fronds in your base cause you built too close to the ground

I agree that it’s super immersive. I was a little pissed by syn saying everyone should be forced to play with it on though. I realize that he didn’t mean anything by it, but my take on it is this: I could barely run Ark Survival Evolved with all my graphics at the lowest settings. With all the graphics at the lowest settings I still can’t run Ark Survival Ascended, and that really sucks. I don’t think locking people out of an entire game because they “won’t get the full experience anyways” is a pretty bad take.
Again, he didn’t mean anything by it and I’m just overthinking it. I love his content. It’s just frustrating.
@@mammalianmolasses4724 hes saying that because its very common in pvp ASE for people to edits their ini files to make the game look like shit removing all kinds of foliage to get an extreme tactical advantage for fights, having it not able to be removed indirectly will effect the pvp meta, like ghillie suits and suppressors being super op. also making thermal vision useful.
When you are building walls, take a moment to check out the Secret Door Wall. 2 side by side makes a gate large enough for a Carno or a Therizino to fit thru easily. and when closed it looks like normal walls.

Here's an idea for saddle durability: when the saddle breaks, it doesn't break like other items. Instead, it still maintains its primary functionality while the saddle armor is heavily reduced, maintaining that extra sense of danger while reducing some of the risk.
I’ve just been assuming that when your saddle breaks it looses its armor but you can still ride
Here's a better idea go back to the original way saddles worked with no/infinite durability.

in the meantime it has been confirmed that saddle durability is just a visual bug and not an actual thing. they won't ever break.
the whole footprint mechanic will be super cool for pvp because you can actually track people now where like if you loose someone you can be like " look here, trike prints heading north" and actually follow them!

not just that but tracking dino's your wanting to tame, as well as knowing what has been through the area.
Saddle durability is gonna make saddle-less creatures like the shadow mane so much better than they already were. But tbh if you really hate the change there is probably gonna be a mod to change is back to how it was
Saddle durability was in evolved as well it was just hidden, but I can promise you it literally didnt matter then and it doesnt now in ascended, feel free to spend some time testing yourself but a 200 durability saddle is the same resist as a 0 durability saddle, it doesnt break or kick you off or anything, its just a useless stat in general

The pathfinding of the AI seems like it will be very useful in caves as well. especially that last one. I feel as if I lose half my dinos to lava before I even get to the end
Can you address the server issues in the community. You’re one of the biggest content creators in the space! Your voice makes a difference. ASA won’t be nearly as successful without the ability to self host a dedicated server.
He prob cant seeing as he prob was given a server for free with the deal for the code with Nitrado.
I was thinking the same thing man but it looks like he's partnered with them in his links so I doubt he can comment. They are helping put food on his table you know? I don't blame him if that's the case. Not like he seen the future coming to this :(

If saddles do take damage that’s kind of a deal breaker for me. I respect their decision to make that change, but they had better add a vanilla setting to turn that off.

Loving everything except the saddles breaking and survivor models but the models will grow.
Considering you'll mainly use the Trike to gather Narcoberries in order to produce narcotics, you might as well call it "Baby Blue"

I'm almost inclined to say that saddle durability being a functional stat won't be a problem. Despite only being primitive, the Trike saddle only received one point of damage from several Therizino hits. The only issues I could see with this change are:
1- The repair costs of good saddles being immensely high.
2- Arthropleura (and creatures with similar armor destroying capabilities), potentially being able to instantly break saddles.
I didn't even notice the saddle durability being consumed in my own game until you mentioned it was a thing now. I just checked my oldest saddle and it's only down 1 hp. It's really not an issue as far as I can tell, so I'm fine with it.
I can just imagine how cinematic fighting on the backs of dinos will be in ASA in the near future
2 vids a day is always a treat, loving ASA so far, and being able to catch up with the progress of the boys is also cool.
Something Conan does far better than any other survivor game is the campire/forges/cooking pot/etc all automatically shut off when they are done cooking/forging.
You can turn them back on and force them to not shut off if you want to farm coal and stuff.
Makes it so handy to not need to waste fuel or count out how much fuel you need
Syn, you are going to love the Oviraptor and the dung beetle!! They both have an option to auto pick up the eggs/poop in the area and store it in the inventory!!

I got it myself, low-mid tier in terms of requirements, and I can deal with the low frame rate (until it almost crashes from fighting 3 dilos), but I've also had 6 crashes out of nowhere in 3.5 hours of gameplay. I would've played longer but... it somehow didn't feel satisfying? Fun? hard to describe, but it felt lacking somehow. Maybe it's knowing I only play singleplayer, but that hasn't stopped me before. Syntac honestly looks like he's having more fun than I've had so far. He's also got a better computer than me, so maybe I'm just getting caught up in the game itself not functioning great with my compy
If you turn off the volumetric clouds it really helps

I'm happy that I decided to wait to get ASA, until all the dlc were added. When that time comes, more of the mods have been ported, and most importantly saddle durability removed, or at least have a mod removing it.

@Syntac so I figured out sometimes when you kill something and u can’t harvest it, go slightly behind it. The “hit marker” to harvest won’t always be on the carcass. I found this out with the trilobites

A good safe area to get a BUNCH of metal, and even build a base is Herbivore Island. As for your new trike, Topsy is a good basic name with some history behind it and such. Its the name of Cera's dad from Land Before Time. But yeah Herbi Island gives ye all the resources except Crystal on it. Oil is in the water nearby. Lots of rocks, metal and wood. And you have that huge inlet/bay area you can gate off and park your water dinos safely.

4:46 I'm kind of glad you don't get extra levels from doing that tbh. Being able to just kill the parent(s) and claim their offspring as your own already seems like it'd trivialize any type of taming. If you still received bonus levels from doing it this way, you'd never need to tame something properly again which is a big part of the fun and challenge in Ark.
First time I ever watched one of your videos and I did watch the ad, I like when creators sell their own products because it doesn't feel scripted and actually seems interesting.

A good spot for safe iron is on the Herbivore Island. It has some cool nodes, and zero danger. You just need your raft. Love your content, greetings from Argentina!

I'm looking at the Evolved wiki so I don't know how accurate it is for Ascended, but according to the resource map there's no metal nodes in the area you're in at all except for in the lava cave, so it would probably be best to find a new base location sooner rather than later. Regardless of whether you decide to move or not, I can't wait to see you explore the new building mechanics and make one of your awesome bases. Loving the new journey so far, keep up the good work and don't forget to rest. We all know how easy it is to lose ourselves in a new game only to suddenly realize it's been hours since we've eaten or drank anything. Cheers!

Syntac, I hate to be that guy, but what needs to be said will be said. Nitrado's monopoly will slowly kill the ARK community, or make you go broke, about 90% if not more of ark players play either SP or unofficial, now to get those servers from nitrado it costs $35 a month just to run a 26 slot server, the worst you can't even host your own if you could or wanted to, this insanity needs to be stopped, all I've seen is lie after lie, forcing us to pay more every time, somebody has to do something, a lot of youtubers are already speaking up, would be greatly appreciated if you said something or did something, if you care about the ark community and its future...
You don't need a server for SP right?

I played ark survival evolved back in the day when it released, racked up 1000 hours and then fell off after awhile but ark ascended got me intrigued again in buying it. I found your channel like a week ago. This is good content man! Thanks for the entertainment!
to add onto the armor deteriorating with damage, corpses do too, so if you kill something itll be normal, then you start harvesting itll get red and blotchy and look really bad as it takes damage, seems like they changed a lot of durability things and added a bunch of cool lil animations and changes
I did the “go here” whistle thing with a t-Rex one time, but since it was survival evolved, I was having to make it walk in very small and precise increments to get it back to my base
I cant wait to see you start building a base.... It is absolutely INSANE now.

in the bottom right of the map there is a island there you will have some metal (and the island is near the cave u went)
Btw pretty sure u can harvest grass like u do bushes and it will remove the grass from the ground, making it easier to see
Was watching Raasclark, it looks like turning your difficulty to hard gives higher levels, as well as a setting I believe is called, "Dino level when not maxed". Turn that up to max and it gives you high level dinos
I used to do the whistling trick on my Sarco when I first played Ark Survival Evolved.

I noticed the damaged state on the tools in the last one. You are right, its the smallest details. Also, Really liked the snake scare. (Sarcastic tone.) we really needed a reason to make swamps harder.
i would probably put blueprint and whatever your tracking to create on the hotbar. so whenever you have something you can just tap the button to create. maybe crafting skill will enhance durability.

I remember getting more metal from the river rocks by using the hatchet. But that could have been due to the rates I had on single player. Worth a try though if you see this.
Also it is not just your armor that look damaged. Your tools look more damaged the more durability they lose.
There are a few metal node spawns on Herbivore Island, if you build a raft you should have no trouble getting across there....hopefully!
If saddles have durability now, will they just instantly break when hit by an Arthros spit attack?

You can put a thatch foundation in that tiny hole near your base with the new build raise/lower mechanics.
About the durability on saddles, its nothing to worry about, I've got a saddle on my Baryonyx, been using it for a few hours now and its only dropped by 1 point in durability.
I started playing just a little bit after you. One of the first things I did was knock out 2 parasaurolophus I named them Paxton and Paris and I’ve been breeding them down stacking mutations into the ultimate parasaur army. (My base is surrounded by over a dozen parasaurolophus lol)……
I hope you'll check the island south east, cause that was one of my favourite spots for a base. I want to see it. But also: Great content. Love to watch your videos.

You can change how far out the camera is when you are mounted, use the left alt to access the camera mode and you can adjust it there.
I hope with the new foot prints for ark 2 they add a blood tint when you attack in the water would be cool
You could fill the hole with a structure. Since now we can raise and lower foundations
holding q is a consumable hot bar all consumables go to there and cant be moved is how it seems to me (put all the berries in your inv then hold q it fills the bar) so you dont need food and water in the main bar just hold q when needed then switch back
I saw another content creator was able to adjust their mounted camera, i didnt catch how they did it however. Getting a raft and going over to herb island would be a good idea, as there are metal nodes all over it.

Those are the new river rocks. However, I've noticed the metal drop rate doesn't seem to increase on those with a metal pick. You get way more flint, but they don't seem to increase metal.
Did anyone noticed that the tools also have a broken texture when they're about to break, like the clothes!?

If you can use the shoulder pets as half weight storage then you should probably only level weight on the shoulder mounts if they don't have another specific purpose
Hey syntac. There are dozens of metal notes on herbavore island (Bottom right) its really close and you can raft over there. You can alos tame an anky and go ham!
the minute you looked at your inventory after the Trike's death, I knew you were done for lol. Tickle Chickens still seem to have "soft aggro" lol
