This worked exactly as you stated. I have transferred from one iPad to another for myself and mother. Also used it on an iPhone helping my aunt setup her a newer iPhone. Thank you!
I'm still using my iPad 6, but man... the new iPad Pro M4 looks really nice!!
Late night special. Thanks for this tutorial! Your step-by-step guide made it super easy to follow. Keep it up Aaron!
Does this method transfer music that I’ve loaded manually? NOT from iCloud or Apple music, which I don’t use due to limited choices.
An interesting item when I placed the order though Apple for my new iPad Air 11" on their website. They sent an email that allowed me to activate additional iCloud storage temporarily until my new device complete the transfer. A neat feature of ordering from Apple.
This was awesome! Thank you!!!!!!! Setting up new iPad Mini 6
FYI: my transfer via WiFi took forever from the M1 iPad Pro estimated at 5 hours so after an hour I canceled it. I did a setup with a iCloud backup restore. Since I don’t store my photos and videos on the cloud I did used a thunderbolt 3 cable and connected them together and transferred them over the cable. It was about 45GB in about 2 minutes.
Excellent! Thank you for the info!
Got the notification at 12:37 AM ET and did not wake me up, I wish it did though. I do not have an iPad, just to expensive. The configuration that I would need is $2846 dollars. It feels like we are in 2050! Wow! I could get an M3 Max 14 Inch MacBpok Pro for and it would be more worth it in my opinion.
I’m using the first iPad Air. I just purchased a new iPad 9th Generation. The iPad Air has iOS 12 and the new iPad should at least have iPad OS 15 on it. I hope the transfer goes smooth.
This video was very useful, Thanks Aaron :D
4am eastern here waking up for work and seeing Aaron posts a new video! Yes please 😎
I pad pro 9.7", on second battery...battery runs out in 45 minutes.
Thanks for sharing. I’m using M1 11” iPad. Blessings on your day.
I got the new iPad 10 for $180 through my carrier but they had to order it so I have to wait till Wednesday it get it and this video will help me a lot Arron!
How does it feel to write with an Apple Pencil Pro on the nano textured display? Is it better or worse compared to the writing on direct glass?
Thanks Aaron, very interesting. I’m shorty to upgrade my 2018 iPad Pro 11” to a new M4 IPad Pro and have been wondering about this. It won’t be a cellular version so not sure if the same process will work and I don’t use iCloud. I do have an M1 MacBook Pro and thought I might be able to backup and restore via that route but not sure if it will do so like for like or again the process I need to go through ? Any help or pointers you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you as always you go above and beyond for us 😎
you know people only do this to make money right? that's all they do it for
Using 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 inch. It has a burnt ring around the edges in the display. Apple said oh well! Think it's time for an upgrade
Awesome video! Apple has made it so much easier to transfer data from one device to another. I’m beginning to think that I should just deposit all of the money I’ve been saving and then purchase my new iPad online. Right now I have the iPad Pro from 2018, but since the iPad Air has one terabyte of storage, I’m leaning towards downgrading to the iPad Air.
Can you not transfer by connecting them both via USB-C
Is the new iPad Air m2 still good
Does it transfer music a playlist
I’d rather know about the screen issues some have reported about the 11 inch pro and the blue colour issue
Good 👍
still happy with my iPad 9th gen. dreading any eventual upgrade to an iPad without a home button.
Somehow I can't transfer my pdf books and magazines. Is there a way to do this?
Can the iPads with esim recieve SMS?
I just got the new iPad Air 13”. On my new iPad under iCloud backup it still shows my old iPad and says the backup size is 6.1GB. I’ve already reset that iPad and everything has been transferred to the new iPad. Can I turn off and delete from iCloud now? My new iPad has already backed up and has everything on it.
I recently transferred from an iPad mini to an iPad Pro (M2), and lost the pro wallpaper that was on the box. Did I do something wrong?
Would hope since they cpu is so advanced, these ipads should be allowed to be updated for over ten years.
I really wish they would also allow QuickStart transfer over a wire vs wifi. For that reason I chose to do a full encrypted backup to my Mac desktop and then restored from that.
WhatsApp?? it's absurd that you can't do it via the usb-c to c cable that comes in the box (or usb-c to lightning for older devices)
I did this same thing from my old I pad to this new one. However, the name of the device is the same under the I cloud devices list. I was able to change the name of my device when I went to settings > general > about and device name. But how do I change it under the I cloud devices name ? Because my old I pad pro was called iPad Pro 11. When I did this type of transfer to the new one, it’s showing as I pad pro 11(2)
The name change will update automatically in iCloud, It doesn’t update right away, It will within a few hours.
My direct transfer creeped up to 24 hours. Twice. I have 50gb of data on the old iPad. I gave up and did a transfer from my backup. We have fiber internet. The data moved in about 20 minutes.
Would,it be recommended to add a screen protector even when you have a Nano-textured display?🤔
I would without a doubt as the screen protector I use will prevent screen breakage in addition to scratching.
If you use your iPhone for storing passwords and as a security key you need to ensure that both the "Passwords and Keychain" and the "Sync this iPad" settings are ON, and then back up the old iPad to the iCloud. On the new iPad restore the previous backup and then ensure that the "Passwords and Keychain "and the "Sync this iPad" setting are turned ON, and if not then turn them ON.
It's worth noting that on the old iPad, you'll need a recent version of iOS to be able to transfer directly, so if your iPad or version of iPadOS is too out of date, you'll need to use one of the other options (iCloud or Mac/PC backup) to transfer your data. You will get an error if this is the case.
I’m currently have iPad Air 4
Salut, moi je vais faire le transfère en mon IPad Pro 9,7" de 2016 a mon nouveau Ipad Pro 2024 M4 11"
Right now I’m using my IPad Pro 9.7 Inch but very soon I’m actually gonna upgrade my iPad (finally) to the all brand new M4 IPad pro
how does the procedure change if your previous iPad has a SIM card and the new iPad uses an eSIM ?
You just pick set up cellular later in settings and contact your carrier and tell them to switch you to an eSIM and they will ask for your IMEI and you give that information and then you will get a notification saying eSIM is ready to download. Hope this helps.
During the set up, you’ll have the same option and it will just convert it to an e-Sim and then transfer it. Or you can do it afterwards if you choose.
I’m currently using the iPad Air 4 from 2020
How does it hold up?
I am using a iPad Air 2
Except it doesn't transfer everything. It installs your apps on the new iPad. It transfers some data, but not all. You still have to log into many of your apps again using user names and passwords and set up biometrics again if you use that. You also have to download data again on some apps. I had to download all of my books in the Kindle and Nook apps and there were hundreds of them, it took hours. They don't offer a Download All option. I had to dig up my list of user names and passwords to log into all of my bank apps again. I had to pull out my credit cards to set them up on Apple Pay again. It's a long process and a total pain. Too bad they couldn't really transfer everything.
My Kindle books and Audibles downloaded completely from the cloud in moments. That was a nice surprise!
Make sure to turn off find my and logout if Apple ID
Apple's process for transferring from an older device to a newer device, has improved over the years. The glaring omission if you have a large amount of IAP's, is having to manually redownload IAP content. As someone who has music production apps (E.g., Samplers), all the sample data must be manually re-downloaded with each new device. Very time consuming and for me, a deterrent to updating my device more often.
I found the best way is to use iCloud backup.
I use a iPad eight
What if the eSIM transfer goes pearshaped?
Then you can try it again later or you would have to contact your carrier if it’s still not working
And playlists
Did you first Remove Old iPad from FIND ME? (Another great video👍)
No, you don’t have to do that until you erase it
@@zollotech Thank You👍
I m early this time
Why is the files app a separate thing and you can’t even access it through a MacBook . It’s so tedious to transfer files because you have to export them to photos then to another device . It’s 187G of 4k videos
Gonna cry?
I have iPad Pro 2021 iPad
Na I’ll do it the old way lol
First
Second
you basically put the two devices next to each other and follow the instructions :)
If you buy this new iPad refresh you are basically telling Apple to take money you don’t like.
Until better software comes to the iPad, there’s no point in upgrading. M1 iPads are stilling doing just fine.
