I've watched this video at least a dozen times and bought the pattern. I have yet to find a jelly roll with the colors I'd like. I prefer the Kansas Troubles fabrics... I'd LOVE to see Matt cut a kit ( like the King's Crown kits) for this PO pattern!
Whenever I click on a pretty quilt pattern tutorial I find it is from Jordan Fabrics. I love your patterns/tutorials! You have a fantastic eye for colors and putting them together. Keep on quilting and sharing with us!
I showed this to my 4 year old grandson, he likes watching the sewing ladies, he said "this lady is very pretty Nanna Gail, her fingernails are beautiful." I am making this quilt to donate as a fundraiser for my dear sister-in-law who passed a few weeks ago from leukaemia. I am going to name it "our bright shining star"
Thank you Gail, and to your grandson too. I am sorry about your sister-in-law, it is a very nice tribute to her for you to make a quilt for the fundraiser.
Just now just now found your channel and I love it your illustration explanation a perfect. Really appreciate seeing the finish sampler block of the block where it's supposed to be working on. Very very helpful love this channel❤. Keep them coming.🥰 13:29
Donna I don't know what you need to be paid for your youtube channel but i'm here to say you are one of the best at teaching quilting I have seen on here and your materials or Fabrics are such high quality anyone needing fabrics should order from you , and im sure if you can send prizes to anywhere in the world you sure can send Fabrics . GREAT VIDEOS !
Donna so enjoy your tutorials. Wish I lived closer to your shop. It looks awesome! You do so inspire me I'm planning on starting the Daybreak quilt. I'll probably have to watch your tutorial a million times!
I love l o v e the (packaged fabric). Need information on( how to order) in the purple and teal need to do a quilt for my daughter in those colors. Thank you🙂
Beautiful quilt in my choice of fabrics! Now seriously I just want to complement the person who films these videos! I feel the quality is absolutely one of the best on TH-cam! The sound is extraordinary. The shot of the rottery cutter was great! I just love all things Jordan Fabrics!
Another lovely video Donna, thank you very much. Getting up often is good for you. Sitting is the enemy. I have my ironing board across the room from my sewing machine on purpose and iron most of my seams.
Donna, thank you so much for being my tutorial go to angel. I would never have tackled this beautiful pattern if not for you. I just finished the Kings Crown from Jordan Fabrics after watching you. Again thank you so much and keep up the good work. My moto is quilting is more fun than housework.
Donna, I hadn't seen this tutorial before as I've only been following you for a couple of years. Love this quilt. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but your videos have come so far. This one is easy to follow and full of helpful hints and tips. But, the videos you make these days really knock it out of the ballpark! It's so interesting to see how they have evolved over time. You are by far my favorite teacher. Glad that your nails have always been a feature!!! :)
I love this quilt , the pattern , the colours and the fact that there are no intersections to join up, well that just adds to the appeal! You always make everything seem so achievable, thank you for your tutorials.
I just finished this quilt. I made an RV Queen sized roughly 68"x82". This is a very labor intensive pattern. I used civil war reproduction fabrics in red, white, and blue. Some things I learned that might make it easier to make; 1. When marking the diagonal lines on the background rectangles, butt them together, short sides touching. Use your 6" or 3" square up ruler. Lay the ruler so the edge is Diagonal to each side, much like a mountain looks, and mark your diagonal lines. It will make the marking go much faster. And the square up ruler makes it so much easier. 2. Press after each seam. I finger pressed each seam as i sewed the 1/4 together, and by the time i was done, it was between 1/4 and 1/2" off. I checked each seam and they were exactly 1/4 inch seams. I tore the seams out and resewed them, pressing each section. It turned out perfect. This is one of the parts that made it labor intensive. 3. It took me roughly 5 days to cut out each of the pieces. I've made about 20 or so quilts so I am intermediate skill i'd say, but this took forever. I then stacked them up according to size. 4. If you are going to chain piece, piece each section of the 1/4 square, then put the 1/4 together. 5.I used 1 color for all of the background instead of 2. It looks great. Putting these quilt squares together goes pretty fast once the 1/4s are constructed. My quilt turned out pretty good. But I don't think i'd make it again. I started it in June, and finished it 10/17. I worked on it all day except for about 20 days where i was busy and couldn't quilt.
I made the jellyroll scrapbook quilt with the accent diamonds! Ripped out more than I sewed. Worse matching ever done...Will not make again. Love love the quilt. 😂 makes me admire Donna even more.
I live in Portugal and the "national" taste for colours is very somber, and what you call civil war fabrics is exactly the colour palette loved here! As usual I really appreciated your video. Thank you for your time and dedication!
Wow this to me looks like a quilt for a professional like you. It's beautiful but rather like a jigsaw puzzle! As I am a relative beginner I think if would be too hard for me to do. But I just love to watch you work and explain how you do it. It is a beautiful quilt. Thank you.
Anita Visram don’t be put off - try drawing the quilt to help you understand the shapes and how they go together - it can really help - then follow one step at a time - you’d be amazed how easy most patterns are to do - just go slow and remember - measure twice cut once- good luck
Anita you can do any sewing project, ANYTHING, just one stitch at a time. You can do this. Once you understand the pattern, or what I call the rhythm, you will nail it.
I love Kansas Troubles fabric! I've made a couple of table toppers using the KT/Moda fabric mix. Thank you for this tutorial! Adding this to my list! 😉
Thank you Donna for another fun project to put on the to-do list and thank you Matt for the tempting combination of georgious fabrics.......you two make a winning team. 🐢
I love your videos! You do a terrific job making the patterns easy to understand! You are so real and down to earth. Thank you so much for teaching us how to make quilts and other projects.
I bought this pattern a couple of years ago, but didn’t want to tackle it until I saw this video. Then my local quilt group had a one day retreat and this was the quilt. I used some fall colors and used a cream tone on tone for background. It turned out gorgeous.
Great pattern! Thank you for the tutorial. Just finishing up a king size version of this quilt done in bright batiks! I will will be excited when the binding is complete.
love your videos, and the way organize the patterns before you start sewing has help me . I have made several of your table runners now it's time to start a quilt.
You are a wonder Donna! You make everything seem so easy and fun ! Which it is! Though its not easy to get the fabrics and colours of cotton here in Malaysia. I have done your falling maple leaves and sisters choice pillows patterns .l felt so happy finishing them. I wish l had discovered quilting earlier in my life Thanks a lot !
Donna I just want to Thank You for all your wonderful quilt tutorials. I’ve learned so much watching your video’s. I live in Puyallup, WA, so not too far away. I’m looking forward to traveling and being able to see your shop. I can’t wait to see it! Please continue with your videos and I’ll continue to learn! Thanks again! 🥰👍🏻🎄❄️🇺🇸
I love this quilt in both color combos. I love the crisp points on the stars. Another great job, Donna. I would love to see a double wedding ring quilt done. Thanks!
I love this pattern, and a great, detailed tutorial video as always.. Your finished quilts are beautiful. Although I'm not a fan of Civil War fabrics, I'm going to try this using some colorful prints, and see how it comes out. All your tips and advice have made me a much better quilter.
Thank you so much for the video. I ordered this quilt pattern. Even as a fairly accomplished quilter the directions eluded me. Nice quilt but GREAT video.
I can watch your tutorials over and over again without ever getting bored. I think I purchased the Daybreak pattern after watching this video last year with hopes of making this quilt top one day, but I'll have to look. Now that I think about it I even bought the material to go with it. However, now I'm thinking I want to order some material in the color wave you did yours in.
Love this in the civil war prints..who'd have thought it would come together so beautifully. Love everything you do with all your helpful hints😊from Australia
Thank you for including the link to this video in an email. I really like this quilt and am ordering the pattern. I appreciate the two variations you showed as well. I like the scrappy look too.
What a pretty quilt! It looks harder than it is, but, you're making it and you're the Queen of all things quilty, so it might challenge me. Have you done a Storm At Sea tutorial yet?
I have watched many many of your videos...almost all of them. I’m addicted. Wondering if you ever square up your blocks. Mine usually need to be squared up. Love how well your video person catches all the action and close ups are spot on. Thanks for all you do for us.
Loved the tutorial and always love watching you sew the whole quilt. The civil war colours are gorgeous. I think I'll start dropping hints about what I'd like for Christmas, have to see what your postage to Ireland is.
Donna/Jordan Fabrics, that was a fabulous tutorial. I learned so much. I always wondered how they made those rectangular pieces with the pointed end in a different color. This pattern did look too difficult but now I think I'd like to try it. Thanks again!
I love watching all of your videos and I have a lot of Cozy Quilt patterns. You take the fear out of quilting! I wish you would do the Color Falls pattern.. It really confuses me about color selections...Thank you for your tutorials!
Please remake a matching bundle for this video. I know you have the Kansas Troubles strip set but it has some pale colours in it which ideally you'd have separately for the background fabric. I came to this video late so missed out on the original bundle. It would make a lovely winter season quilt.
Love love love this beautiful quilt. Your tutorial was very easy to understand. Please tell me the fabric choices you used and how much. I would love to make this quilt. Thank you so much for your tutorials your are an amazing teacher. I plan to purchase the same fabrics from you. Thank you Happy Quilting to you! Debbie Baker
I've watched this video several times and I bought the pattern. I haven't yet found the strip set or jelly roll I'd like to use. Hint, hint- Matt I'd be delighted if you would make some suitable kits!
