  • I drug this MOTOREC industrial cart home from the junk yard in the hopes that I can salvage the diesel engine along with some other goodies to use on my drag behind roller! ended up having to cut the motor out with a torch and go through the injector pump to get it freed up! subscribe and keep watching my channel to see this motor in future videos!
    Check me out on Instagram #DieselCreek !!!

    +the injector and barrel are lap fits from sitting so long they atomicly bonded to one another much like if you slip two lapped blocks together they are almost impossible to pull apart to get them apart you have to slide them apart the same way you put them together when you spun the piston at first you (broke) the bond (like sliding the blocks) that allowed you to sepperate them you could then reinsert the plunger piston again with no effort because the bond was broken

    The Kubota is made in Japan and that means that those #2 Phillips are actually JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) screws.
    To avoid wrecking the rest of the fasteners on the engine, you need a set of JIS drivers. The best are from a company called Vessel and they’re available on the web - not too expensive, but well worth it to avoid chowdering the remaining fasteners on the engine.

    As for why the injection pump stuck, like the other guy said, the tolerance between the plunger and barrel are super fine. When these engines sit, especially in humid climates, small specs of condensation form on the plungers and microscopic bits of rust form, locking the plunger to the barrel. That is why you could not see anything wrong. I don’t know of anything that can be done to prevent it, Maybe just remember to work the rack back and forth every so often when sitting.

    Please excuse me if you already know but I have no way of telling so I thought I would share this.
    So far as I am aware there are two types of screw which have a Phillips head pattern.
    A little dot on the top of some screws distinguishes the later 'Japanese' style of driver required to manipulate that distinct screw pattern developed after the famous 'Philips' head which is a US invention.
    I believe one type of screw requires a driver with a deeper point and if you use the wrong style on the wrong head it causes problems.
    Here is a paraphrased extract from Wikipedia;
    "A redesign of the Phillips screw commonly known as the Japanese Industrial Standard (or JIS) has a head which looks very similar to a Phillips with the exception of a single, tiny dot.
    JIS fasteners may look a lot like a Phillips-head but the tool engagement is far superior-if you are using the correct tool."
    Just a thought regarding the difficulty you had in removing those little screws at 10:28.

    not to be the internet police, when sparks fly it is wise to wear protective goggles. Some people would consider that good advise coming from a man with only one good eye. It's all about experience. :)

    I am guessing someone ran the injection pump dry and seized the pump rods to the cylinders.

    I know what it is called in space where there is a vacuum. It is called cold welding. What you have in this injector body is millionths of an inch clearance. What I am guessing is the spacing is so tight that it somehow bonds tightly if not moved for a long time because the tolerances are so unnaturally close and bonds somehow form.

    I am willing to bet the injector pump failure is why the cushman went to the scrapyard. Have you had any other problems with the kubota Diesel Creek?

    I know nothing about Kubota engines, any idea how many HP this little engine has? Also, curious, how much did you pay for it?
