US Bank Shoppers card is a great option. 6% on any two categories/quarter (including Walmart) and 3% on one of three categories (we chose utilities). 1.5% on EVERYTHING else. Outside of the sign up bonus, we are getting about $750-$900 back each year for a cost of $95 to carry the card. If you don't travel a lot, it's a great option.
@@ItsEazzyBabby yes, it’s $540 back in maxing the categories (which never change) and 1.5% on all other spending. For some families like ours, that would put us over $800 per year. However, we recently got into the Capital One SavorOne/Venture X world so our US Bank Shoppers card will only be used to max the categories (to $540) and all other spending on our new cards.
I feel like most of these cards are only for people that don't travel American Express wasn't accepted in a lot of places in the Philippines I was told by a lot of restaurants and places I went to that they don't accept it and I was like oh okay I got Capital One no foreign transaction fees I actually thinking on making a video about the sabre one being an underrated travel card because I used that through my whole month travel and it gave me 3% on dining and groceries in a foreign country
PayPal is #1 for me since I do almost all of my spending through PayPal (Even online grocery shopping, AND my light bill). Complimented with the Fidelity card, I could drop to a 2-card system if it came to that.
Cards I think should have made the list: Redstone FCU Signature (strongest category-specific card on the market, should be in actual Top 10) Amex Blue Business Plus (2x transferable points, no annual fee) Any 2.5%/3% card, like Alliant (with the caveat of having to jump through hoops) US Bank Altitude Reserve (4.5% on mobile wallet redeemable for cash travel with $75 effective annual fee, good SUB, some premium benefits) Capital One Venture X (2x transferable, good SUB, no effective annual fee if you travel once a year using cash)
Fidelity might have a bonus right now. I recently got an offer in the mail $150 bonus on $1000 minimum spend until end of May. And thanks for the tip on the AAA cards, I'm always looking for more rewards on my BJ's purchases.
Great review...This always helps with looking for new cards to get. You can add the WF Autograph card with the AE Everyday card for groceries and online shopping and be covered with alot of catorgories then just throw in a good 2% card and be set.
Current card that I would say: Discover Miles as long as you don't mind opening another account and closing the second (that is still one card your using - sort of) as last I knew you still can churn them and it is *unlimited 3% back on all categories of purchases* and get 1.5% each month and the rest with the cash back match. Card of the future: The Federal Reserve card. Though if you have less than or around $10,000 spend on groceries (or $7,000 on gas or electric charging) then like the good Adam Jusko said in the video the one of the AAA Comenity dual of cards is better for the spend as that can be a good as 5% back if under the cap.
Really glad the Savor One is finally getting its due. Unrelated, but a Capital One/American Airlines partnership makes all the sense in the world to me.
I avoid the bankster credit cards at all costs, and stick to a credit union! Credit unions are not for profit, members are owners, and credit unions do not take financial risks! I only have two cards. The Navy Federal Credit Union More Rewards Card, and the Flagship Rewards Card.
I wouldn't have thought about the Gold being good if you just wanted 1 card, but I could see it for the right person. Though Amex isn't accepted everywhere which is a downside. I do agree with others that say the US Bank AR should be here. Assuming you can do a lot of your purchases with mobile wallet, you get 4.5% on those, and 1.5% elsewhere. Maybe not as good if you don't travel, but the same could be said of the Gold. Though I am curious how the math would work out for an average person, whether one of the 3% on multiple categories would be a 2% on everything if all they wanted was one card.
Alliant Visa Signature easy for me. Pay health insurance premiums and auto as well through it. Easily surpasses what the 1k could get me even at 5% APY Used it overseas and it's perfect - NO FTFs just a round great card.
The top two in my opinion are either the U.S. Bank altitude reserve with 4.5x on all mobile wallet purchases which is almost everything now and the alliant signature visa, 2.5% back on everything, no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees.
Redstone FCU absolutely COOKS all these other cards. You get 5% on gas and restaurant purchases, 3% at grocery stores, discount stores, wholesale clubs, utilities, cable, phone and streaming services and 1.5% on all other purchases. The multiplier categories are the bulk of most people’s shopping. It’s easy for anyone to join - just pick the last choice on the list during the application (it’s free). The idea that this card is a limited time teaser has been wrong for over a year.
Wow! No Citi absolutely anywhere even in the honorable mentions? The Custom Cash certainly holds more value than something like the Chase Freedom Unlimited. And not even a mention of the Double Cash in the 2% flat cash back. Did Citi do you dirty recently?
The CCC is literally the opposite of an "all-around" card. Everyone should have one, and it's a great card, but you use it for 1 category and that's it.
Good review. I have the AAA TA, the BCE, and a VX, but since I'm working on the spending requirements on new business cards while at 4/24, I had to put them on hiatus. I'm not sure if the AAA or the BCE will be used that much in the next year, especially if I decide to jump on a CSP (and off the ink train) if it does get a great welcome offer... because getting the AMEX Gold and/or the Savor 1 will have a better return on spend than the cash back cards. I guess I'm not a one-card guy, lol.
I would have to go CSP or citi premier. Low AF, no FTF Both have lots of categories plus access to transfer partners so you can either cash out or use pts for travel. Also some good purchase protections & extended warranty.
i dont know how capital one savor one wasn't #1 because it has 3% in a lot of good categories with a low spend requirement $200 bonus and we don't have to be a member of anything. wells fargo autograph would be a close second because it has a lot of the same benefits but with a higher spend requirement for its intro bonus.
It's #2 on my list. The 10% back on uber/uber eats is still going. 5% back on hotels and rental cars. 8% back on entertainment through the Cap1 entertainment portal. Excellent card.
I have six of those cards (five in the top 10, one honorable mention). I wonder why US Bank Altitude Go was chosen over Cash+. With Cash+, you get to choose your 5% categories per quarter. Then again, there is a cap on that bonus per quarter.
I think the biggest one you missed is the Costco Everyday Visa! It functions as my parents' 1-card setup and they get about $500 per year in cash back. Impressive! In my opinion, it's hard to go wrong with the Costco card. That is assuming that you have a costco membership, so you could say it's effective annual fee is $60 or $120.
I was going to say that if I could ONLY have 1 card, it would be the no AF BoA Travel card, or maybe the $95 one, but I'm a PR member, so it shifts things a bit. Maybe even the elite one, since you can actually use all of the travel and lifestyle credits in just one trip a year, and you don't have to pick a particular airline.
Any reason why the travel card over Unlimited Cash? With the PR boost, it’s 2.62% back on everything. Redemption for any purchase. Instead of only travel expenses. The travel card does have no FTF advantage over Unlimited Cash. I’m genuinely curious. I have both and I NEVER use my Travel card. I only keep it for credit history. But I’m probably not utilizing it properly either.

Another thing to consider for a single do it all card are the extra benefits besides just the cashback/points categories. Namely purchase protection and extended warranty which is mostly going to limit you chase or amex annual fee cards. But those are very powerful benefits, especially if youre using that card for all your purchases, big and small. And also im shocked! i think this is the first one of these types of lists i didnt see the citi custom cash or double cash at least get an honorable mention.
