Antoine Fuqua is killing it on directing the trilogy of The Equalizer. I just saw the third, and wow it was so good to see Denzel back in the role of Robert McCall
Um did you watch that movie he was the devil well. Nm good point the devil is an angel. But you get the point. Hate labels. What about the angel of death? It ain't dark.
Those two played their parts like they were in a Shakespeare level play. I’ve been watching his son roles and you can tell he passed it down for sure. But I do hope him and Ethan make another classic movie together.
There are so many parts of Training Day that are pure gold, where Denzel just dominates that specific scene, and takes over as "Alonzo." Other than the "King Kong" scene, which is obviously the best part of the whole movie, I think a close second is probably when he tells Jake to take a hit of the bowl, then stops the car in the middle of the intersection, puts the gun to his head, and makes him do it. Then once Jake finishes it up, Denzel seems to have a genuine reaction, when he laughs and responds with "lesgo n***a, lesgo!"
Yo that's my favorite part. But the roll in the jungle and dont fo there with less than a platoon. I was like dam. Good luck with martial law. All the guns the government let them have gona be used against them lol
Nah, it was his absolute WORST role. That's why he got the Oscar along with that Halle Berry for Monster's Ball. Hollywood trolling. They were rewarded for taking those two degrading roles.
@@stephencarter7266it’s a two way street but I agree that Hollywood trolls like that it’s difficult to say that’s 100% the reason why they won the Oscars .
That was the point, Jake had to flip the switch at the end to do what had to be done…u see it at when he’s riding the bus, blood dripping down his face pistol in hand
Denzel may have dominated every scene in Training Day he was in but no scene gives me such an uneasy anxious feeling as the one where Jake is left for dead in the apartment playing cards with Smiley and his crew.
Gotta always be prepared cause when you’re flowing and improvising, it NEVER sounds or captures the pure magic when you try and run it again, so always be ready and filming/ or just always be recording when your playing music
I didn't know that Denzel was famous back when I watched the movie when it came out. and I was always curious how can I not dislike someone that's a bad guy? I was in 1st year highschool and I really couldn't understand how he convinced me it was cool to be the villain. for me, I hated bad guys growing up and it was the first time that my mind was blown that a bad guy can actually be cool! watching it now, I understood the movie more but the cool factor is still there. kinda like watching wall street, Michael Douglas was also a villain but he was a likeable villain. I think villain roles in real life make more sense because you don't always do the right thing in life but you do what you have to do to survive. it ain't always about doing something right, it's about you doing what's necessary.
I remember the first time I saw "Training Day", to see Denzel Washington play that role was exhilarating. He was so very seductive that you were attracted to him, but so evil you wanted him to lose. I was like Denzel's a best. When I got older I had to find out who Denzel Washington was, from watching "Martin". Pam would always talk about how fine he was, and she was obsessed. I'm sure a lot of people know, and remember that. I know back then it probably got back to him. Tichina Arnold might have been shooting her shot on the slick. 😏😉 My apologies if he was married back then.
I really really really wanted to hate Denzel after watching Training Day but he’s so likable and humble in real life. I’m addicted to his acting. He’s not talented..he’s gifted. Talent can be taught but not gift.
Denzel Washington’s performance in Training Day was great but he stole the Best Actor Oscar that year from a more deserving Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind that also won Best Picture. Had Crowe won he would have had back to back Oscar wins like Tom Hanks which might have changed the trajectory of his career. Crowe is a fantastic actor to this day but he doesn’t get the same respect as a Hanks or DiCaprio. Crowe became a household name for a bit when he won his first Oscar for Gladiator.

Check out the deleted scenes from Training Day. The one where Denzel talks about the guy beating the dog with a hose is great. There's also one where Smiley tells Jake that Alonzo wanted him to kill Jake in front of his family, and to not forget him when he takes Alonzo's place.
He is the most underrated film director. Training day, the equalizer 1,2,3 and tears of the sun with Bruce Willis. Mad respect to this man.
