Denzel said in an interview that he remains in character throughout the entire filming process which has caught some actors off guard when not filming while on the set - both men are incredible actors - Sicario - Love him in that role...

I love the fact that the Thanos statue behind Josh is missing one hand and one of the first stories in this clip is about Josh putting his hand on Denzel’s shoulder. 😅
Tried to watch it twice, but i have a big needle phobia and the heroine scenes give me a panic attack and i start having trouble breathing. When watching Pulp Fiction, i skip the travolta heroine scene and probably the heart needle scene too.
I often find a mark of a great actor is how well they do a character on SNL when hosting, and Brolin is one of the absolute best hosts on that show. You thought it was real it was that good, no breaking, no script screw ups, just perfection, and the comedy came out even more because of it
I think Denzel did the right thing, and the movie is better for it. It crystallized the tension between the characters, eliminating any sense of familiarity that would belie their oppositional positioning.
Denzel had been acting in film and tv for damn near 15 years by the time that movie came out. Carbon Copy was in first movie in 1980. He was a rising star by the time Richochet came out.

@BobFosterMedia I get it, but in a 3 hour convo haha what's 5 minutes asking about one of the best comic villians brought to film? Some would enjoy hearing his take on it
Its actually the giving up of ones will. Hard to explain. It takes humility not willpower. If willpower or morals would work we would have quit when alcohol started causing us problems. We have to be pretty badly mangled to reach a point of total surrender. Its really hard to explain, I hope this helped. It is why people who are so successful have to most trouble getting sober. Self knowledge doesn't work either nor does evangelism.

Yes, the tear is Glory. An awesome reference. Love Josh Brolin. My son met him and said he was extremely nice, which I appreciated. No Country for Old Men and Sacario movies are my go-to favorites.
This is the essence of an ACTOR, a person who does a wonderfully artful job portraying somebody special who did something that the actor can only produce as interpretation, and not as original conduct. ACTORS are NOT who they portray, they -- for a short time -- become only interpretations of who those persons may have been. Ultimately though, actors are only counterfeits while they are acting. The best actors can portray a person perhaps even better than the person themself being portayed. At the end of the day however, it is only a portrayal and a very short one at that. Actors are not and never will be who they are pretending to be. Actors most often pretend to be real-life heroes, but in real life they most often are not ... they just act like heroes. Independent of their own chosen profession, some actors are also, in various ways, heroic. That is a person to be admired for what they do beyond acting.
Josh, what a terrific actor you are! Being real with his job, No Country for Old Men, what a role. Remember W.? Awesome... American Gangster! No need to show off to anyone, you are Hollywood royalty my friend! ❤❤❤
I would love to see Brolin get his own Paramount + series based on his "Matt Graver" character from Sicario...Hell, even cross cameo him in "Lioness" since Taylor Sheridan created his character, that show: Lioness, and the story of Sicario.
Normally I think these types of fancast ideas are dumb but that makes a ton of sense to have him pop in on Lioness! Probably out of the field now but still plugged in to what's happening on the ground.
Josh Brolin in 'Oldboy' was absolutely Grand! All I can say to Mr. Brolin is, "I know what it's like, to lose." "To feel so desperately you're right, yet to fail nonetheless." "I ask you to what end?" "Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same." "And now it's here or should I say, I am!" LOL!!!
It was tension, but that’s what made the scenes between him and Brolin great. You can feel they didn’t like each other because they weren’t supposed to.

Brolin and Del Toro in Sicaro. Gold 🏆
Del Toro stole that film. He outshined all these others made them all look mediocre.
That film is a masterclass for tension building in cinema
