H6 Subaru Spec.B mountain drive - Tuned EZ30 exhaust sounds

- Details about the car in the description below
This was the first time I got to really test out the car after getting it tuned, and the torque improvement is very noticeable, especially at lower RPMs. It did start to rain partway through unfortunately, so I couldn't go hard out but I still tried to test the limits a bit. In this video the exhaust is popping and crackling quite a lot on decel when the RPMs are high (maybe too much - I might ask the tuner to dial that back the next time it's in), but it doesn't do that when driving normally.

Im swapping an ez30r into a hawkeye impreza your the only channel ive found posting videos in the mountains ripping it omg it sounds amazing cant wait to be sending in mine
Whar a great control and driving! 🥹🫡 This EZ30 with right exhaust has an incredible sound! Subscribed!
I'm a simple man. I see manual h6 driving videos, i click
finally someone posts a video with JUST ENGINE SOUND ❤, spot on rev matching and all
6 speed ez30 bae is such a rare bae, top tier
Wow, that sound is amazing. the change on the intake makes a big part of it, i think.
Last year i bought a 2006 Outback with the ez30 engine with only 113000k km on it. They are pretty rare here in Germany and i am happy i got one.
113000k sounds very unlikely.
430 000 km. 2007
Goshhh!!! That’s was beyond good !
With all that torque i can see the engine can even push even being in a wrong gear
Yeah you really don't need to be careful about gears it just pulls so well
Far out that sounds wicked
They said the real man drives three pedals, well I guess they haven't watch u drive yet😂 nice driving skills there. Keep it up 💪
Gotta Love powerful wagons!
heck yeah
that sounds great
is that 160kw to the wheels?
surely not on 98?
@@anmolsaxena_ 160kw atw on 98 yeah - I know this setup can push closer to 170kw but the car has high kms and the avcs solenoids and maf sensor were being unstable according to the tuner, so I was happy to play it safe on peak power, and to be honest I rarely ever feel the need to get the rpms up that high anyway due to the amazing low end torque so I'm not really concerned
Amazing video and driving skills...got an H6 2006 outback ltd . Same AUS spec. You need to do a full review video on your car please
That is the plan! The car needs a bit of work right now, namely a new wheel bearing and an oil change but then I'll do an owner's review on it.
Sick drive!!
Smooth
Date goals...
Wow your mum can drive 🎉
That's me driving but thank you!
Lol , i thought so , just stirring. Nice work.
Hi. Amazing drive! I’m inspired by your skill and your spirit. Just a quick question if you have the time. How is the handling, steering feel as opposed to traction? I’ve heard that these cars are nose heavy and the flat six is situated ahead of the front axle. I wondered if that has any effect on the feeling of balance and handling if that makes any sense. I know need to test drive one at some stage. Thanks again
You can definitely feel the weight in the front but there's things you can do to counteract it. Namely, a thicker rear sway bar (leave the front stock or you'll make it worse), and adjusting your tyre pressures to be slightly higher in the front (I run 34f/32r).
Steering feel can be improved by swapping in a 2015 STI rack which is quicker compared to the comfort-focused liberty one.
You can also alter your driving style to suit the AWD as well. Off the brakes before turn-in and then hold the throttle through the corner itself. The AWD system gets grip from power, so being off throttle negates that.
That is extremely helpful. Thank you.👍
@@tolgarupture You're welcome! Another thing I forgot to mention is that if you begin understeering, you can rotate the car by adding throttle. It's most effective on a slippery surface. Getting hard on the brakes can cause the weight to move too suddenly and you'll transition into oversteering instead, which can be hard to control if you're not expecting it.
Thanks again. I’m lost for words. This is very detailed and comprehensive. It is almost as if I have driven the car; not that I could ever drive it like you do. Good luck with everything. 👍
How is it? I am on a look out for a fun/sporty 6 cylinder wagon and really like Liberty/Legacy spec b, and i dont want a BMW.
Is it entertaining? I heard clutch is not too nice to operate, is it true? if so fixable?
I really enjoy this as a middle ground between a practical daily driver and a weekend car to take on fun drives. The sound puts a smile on my face, and I enjoy the performance. It's also pretty easy to work on and I've done all the repairs and upgrades myself.
As for the clutch, it's quite heavy, but personally I prefer that. Even in heavy traffic I don't have an issue. The clutch and gearbox shine the best when you're driving hard.
@@dawn_h6 Glad to hear that. Its something i look for. I got into Subarus couple years ago with XV and i want something both more sporty and practical. It sounds nice, but i dont like sitting so high and want to feel the speed more.
I pretty much went from daily-ing a weekend car (1990 Celica 2.0 gt-i") to strictly a daily car with xv/crosstrek and i want more of the sportscar...everything back, so i hope Legacy/Liberty spec b can be that for me.
I do like the interior and awd system in it but it just doesnt feel too exciting to drive.
Hey! Where you get black central console? I hate that silver nonsense we have in euro
It's the standard centre console here in Australia for most of the trim levels, mine came with it
@@dawn_h6 wow! Cool! Do you see our euro nonsense made from super thin silver garbage?
black standard after 2007 MY
I can see it's now making 160kw at the wheels. What was it making stock?
180kw crank which ends up being about 135kw at the wheels
@@dawn_h6 so an extra 25kw at the wheels with just an exhaust, intake and tune? Seems a bit high but worth it if true. Might look into it. Thanks.
@@mrnicktoyou The headers are the biggest difference. The stock ones are incredibly restrictive and can cause the engine to ping even on the stock tune. I've seen some NA engines push above 170kw with a similar setup
@@dawn_h6 I might upgrade the headers and keep the rest stock at first as I don't want drone. Then eventually swap the rest bit by bit.
@@mrnicktoyou The main things to avoid drone will be keeping the cats stock, and if you go for a catback that replaces the resonator, make sure it includes one instead of a delete. My Empire catback had a delete which was fine with the rest of the exhaust stock but horribly loud once the headers and cats were replaced. That's why I installed the vibrant resonator and that was a huge improvement
Is it a factory manual?
Yep! In Australia the H6 Spec B had the option of a 6 speed manual derived from the STI 6MT
Honestly lucky, just bought one in New Zealand, could only find automatic but so much fun to drive anyway, and sounds wise it’s good to find your setup so I know what I’m after when I start tuning up 🤙🤙
@@mitchjames8384 The manuals are certainly hard to find in good condition, especially the facelift wagon which tends to command a premium.
I thought they had 250hp stock then this should have atleast 300hp
240hp stock at the engine, which is about 180hp at the wheels. 160kw/215hp at the wheels would be around 275hp at the engine approximately
@@dawn_h6 👌
Damn
I want to subscribe but it's at 555 right now, fuck it
После этого видоса, я таки купил такой же вагон (ез30 +мкпп, сток)
