What a rare treat! Thank you for sharing this. I had read that the two Pandits often sang together - almost competitively 😃 - in private baithaks at PL Deshpande's residence. It is an immense privilege to have had the opportunity to listen to this recording.
It is a delight to hear them sing together, indeed. There is a lot more of their Marathi singing available online, which I haven't heard. In fact, I came to Vasantrao Deshpande much later and haven't heard even all his published music as much as I would like to, leave alone the private mehfils, something I need to redress, but then, again, we are so spoilt for choice nowadays, But the more I hear him, the more I feel how underappreciated he is today. The Marathi-knowing HCM lovers do not perhaps realise how privileged they are. I am so tempted to learn Marathi only to be able to read more about these personages. I so would love to read more about PL Deshpande's friendship with these two and Mallikarjun Mansur, and the stories about them. What a bunch of supremely gifted people, hanging together, immersed in music!
