@ShaunAndersen my youngest went to college for engineering and although that's not as intense as becoming a doctor, I would tell him never give up on your dreams, push through. He's now successful engineer, hang in there, you got this
Choosing medicine as a career can be exhausting. At the end of the day, its all about the care you've given to each one of your patients. It's rewarding seeing a patient get better while in a hospital. Hope you get some rest.
I like Deepal. He's so chillaxed about the whole thing. Playing video games or Pokemon or his downtime. That's dope to see. Most content are about how everyone is always so busy and so tired. He brings a different perspective to medicine.
I do keep you prayerfully uplifted. It is tough job you have but I feel you are one of the special ones. So many doctors and residents have no personality and zero bedside manner. I get the opposite vibe from you. Keep pushing through!
Another great vlog from handsome Dr. Shaun! Shaun I'm in the legal field and one thing that has helped me feel less stressed/overwhelmed is to only let myself focus on one day at a time and not look ahead 2-3 days or more. Like if I'm having a crazy intense day, i just focus on what I have to get done that day and do it as efficiently and accurately as possible. Don't let yourself anticipate what tomorrow will be like, just focus on the moment. And if you're like me, you actually like an intense work environment so it works out. Hope this helps 😊
Medical coder here. The last time I commented you seemed interested in reimbursement, so I thought I’d give you a little info on how it works. Physicians bill for their services with CPT codes and each of these codes are assigned values called RVUs (Relative Value Units). There are 3 types of RVUs: Work, Practice expense, and Malpractice insurance. The authoritative bodies (CMS/AMA) assign these values based on the 3 components above, taking into account things like the amount of time for a service, the skill required, the resources needed from your practice, the malpractice risk…. These values are adjusted based on your geographic location (eg, New York vs rural Alabama) and then they are multiplied by a Conversion Factor that congress sets each year for a dollar amount. If you want a summary of hospital reimbursement next video please comment.
I’m literally a 26 year going to community college for an associate degree in accounting but yet I find myself watching your videos because they’re so motivational. Keep up the great work you will go far in life.

Thanks so much 🙏🏻 and I’d say right now just focus on doing well in your classes before getting caught up with other stuff like volunteering and research.
Hello! I’m excited to see more of your content. And I wanted to ask you, what are some things you see us paramedics doing that you wish we did more of? And do you have any advice on prehospital emergency management in general?
W vid brother! Keep up the hard work and dedication. I recently started watching your channel since you graduated medical school congratulations on that & you inspire me to keep chasing my dream of becoming a Radiologist/Rad tech. I hope you have fewer rough days & more Good days, looking forward to the next vlog.🤝🏾
Hi Shaun. Love your videos. I was at the hospital 3 day this week to see different drs. I was telling one of the nurses I know about your videos she said will check your page out have a amazing week stay blessed and safe always ❤
@@ShaunAndersen Institutional banking, lots of expected overtime, but as you know it just comes with the work. Still love it overall as you likely do to!
i appreciate the vlog and have followed you for a long time (just prior to med school) and i love seeing your growth! Love the morning tunes! btw im 55 and often don't have matching socks🤣
Technically, I was first. I was looking for this week's video(s) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (today). I also looked for it at 6:00 A.M.,, 9:00 A.M., 10:00 A.M., and now 1100 A.M. I love your videos. I am looking into starting my premed courses again this fall semester w/ Chemistry (if finances allow). Thank you for giving me hope when I had given up. Thank you for showing me that it is never too late and I am never too old to go after my dreams. What do you do on weekends for fun (when you arent on call)?
That means so much, and best of luck to you with your premed courses 🙏🏻 you’re going to do great! & oh my weekends I love just hanging out and catching up with friends, playing with dogs, and getting some workouts in :)
hey bro i just want to say im proud of you it's not easy to chase something that's so close but yet so far i myself am about to embark in college to chase this goal as well seeing you do this and go through it show's i can do it shaun keep going bro it'll pay off at the end trust.
I’m a student preparing for NEET (entrance test formed school in india) and wherever I feel demotivated or disheartened, watching your videos boosts my mood and makes me want to study . Thank you soooooo much ❤
Why do hospitals understaff the shifts and any of you should not work over 9 hours. I feel I have not gotten the care I needed because of exhausted nurses and other staff. I see the nurses huddled talking when I have been sitting with husband. No help with shower, no ice, bed soaked from husband being on so many IVs constantly. I HAD to be his nurse, CNA, because staff was no where to be found. I personally, don’t ring the button unless the IV alarm will not stop. I don’t ask for help - nothing. I want the hell out of any hospital.😮 When I’m a patient, staff would hardly check on me, so you have to get up as soon as advised and sit up in a chair. Then get the hell of there. I feel so sorry for really sick people that need a lot of care because there are 16:05 not enough staff anywhere/ any hospital.
I know you rotate different medical specialties like your surgery rotation, ICU and now Hospitalist. How may weeks does each rotation last and what will be your next rotation speciality. I love your videos and look forward to watching them. Your puppies are so cute. Hang in there, it will get better.
Many good wishes 🙏 for next week!! I'm so glad u have a great team. I have 2 qeustions. 1. Do u have a rotation being on the rapid resone team? 2. When u round on pts, do u do it at bedside? We had a bad experience ( at another facility) where every day 8to 10 residents came in my late husband's rm and towards the end of there discussing his case at bedside. They would say his prognosis is very poor. We weren't aloud to ask qeustions. 1 day I blew up.As he would ask me if he was dying. I yelled at the team and said I'm spending 9 hrs a day encouraging him ,and u finish with a negative comment ! So I said either say the prognosis before u enter his rm or don't come in st all. Needless to say I got a bunch of dirty looks. He did pull through on that admit. Was I wrong in doing that?
I’m sure it depends on how many patients you have to round on, but how often do rounds usually take? And do you need to round at all on patients for anesthesia?
If i may give u and advice that would be that on a long hard stressfull day take a minute to take deep breath and clear your mind that may sound stupid but it herpes me a lot on my previous work place.
What college major should i take for pre med? I know it doesnt really matter, but what increases my chances of getting into a med school? Any other advice would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
I feel like the amount of admin work and paperwork you have to do is so inefficient. No wonder doctors are so busy. And if you say it's hard then it must be very hard since you're always so positive. On the bright side your entire playlist seems to be from the late 90s to mid 2000s lol.
