When I was researching a launch monitor, the Square Golf monitor had really just been released. I got on the pre-order list and got mine in October from the UK. People want to compare it to a $7K monitor, but for $700, this thing is amazingly good. It’s only going to get better as they fine tune the software. I’m running indoors (not for outdoor use) into a SimSpace net through my iPad and using a large screen TV. I have the projection screen if I ever want to go that direction, but don’t think it’s all that necessary at this point.
I purchased the MLM2 for $729USD with the 12ct RPT balls and have a set up in my garage at 9’2 ceiling clearance and maybe takes 6-8 minutes to set up. Not projected impact screen but have a projector facing the wall next to me
Hey Gabe, Why no Protee VX included in the best launch monitors. Best bang for the buck out there and as good if not better than most costing at least $3000 more.
I'm part of a members indoor club and we have the Uneekor EyeXO. I love all the data you get, accuracy, and GSPro is amazing as you can download community built courses, like the Star Wars golf course. However, I would still like my own at home simulator...so need to wait until the kids out grow the playset and put in an activity shed.
We use the Garmin R10 + Awesome Golf + RCT Titleist. It’s a great experience for indoor/cold season garage golf! And yes your advice lead us that direction. Eyeing the, square golf in the next year or so. If money was no issue the Garmin R50 would be the pick!
I was looking into purchasing it but my garages floor is straight concrete does that actually mess up the numbers? And some metal/because of the garage doors?
@ you described my garage! The biggest thing is your distances 6-8 feet from the golf ball to the garmin r10 (we are at 7ish ft) and then about the same to the “screen” in our case a king size bed sheet. I know, we call it the poor man’s simulator set up. The RCT balls make a huge difference (and Awesome golf is the most accurate). This channel we are watching walks you through the best way to get the best data from the Garmin R10 and it works. The only interference is from AC/heater on wheels. We have to shut it off when playing. All that means is we get it turned on 30-40 mins before turning everything on and playing in the garage. Hope this helps!
I just got the garmin r10 and it’s almost unusable as of now. There is bare tile floor between the mat that the garmin is on and the hitting surface. Also maybe the overhead infrared heater maybe could be causing interference?
I have the set up and 90% of the time the r10 works well but there are times where the distances are just short. I reset it and it's back to normal over all great launch monitor for the money
Got the Skytrak+. Have had it for about a year. I’m really enjoying the course play and using it all on my iPad Air with the M2 chip. No need for a gaming pc just yet. I do plan on upgrading to an overhead unit, the one I’m eyeing is the Protee VX. That upgrade won’t be for a few years. Making one final move down south, so I don’t want to have to tear everything down when I move.
11:03 Idk most pros I see on driving ranges still use Trackman radar systems. I've heard that the optical systems especially the GC3 are very lenient on spin to the point that it's hard to trust them at really high ball speeds.
On a range, the trackman is great. But indoors it’s not so accurate in my opinion. And if I’m spending that much money, I want something that is a bit more versatile.
Square over the MLM2Pro? Even though the Square has inconsistent spin numbers and can't be used outside? Maybe in the suture Square will be better, but definitely not as of right now.
I noticed that the Full Swing Kit is not on the list. It's a device that has always interested me but there just isn't enough information about the indoor accuracy of both ball and club data. It also now works with GSPro so if the indoor data is accurate it should be a great device because the outdoor ball data is almost exactly the same as Trackman4. What is it about the FSK that holds it back?
Don't recall if you mentioned that Mevo + is one of the only launch monitors that doesn't require an annual subscription fee to be able to see all your club path and ball data!! That was a big factor for me....
Does the MLM2 Pro have issues with concrete and metal interference in a garage, like the Garmin R10? That is my biggest problem with my R10. Second problem is space, so would prefer the Square, but wonder if the MLM2 Pro overcomes the interference issues, at least. Thanks, Gabe!
Gabe..What do you have against the Earnest Sports B1 launch monitor?? this unit is around the $ 495 mark and you can set lofts for each club things that don't come with most of the other unit you viewed.....Thanks...Ali
What are your thoughts on the MLM2 Pro new lifetime membership option for 500? Seems like a pretty good deal especially if you can get a used unit for closer to 400-500 range. Unfortunately that license is non transferable.
What confuses me is which offer flight path data - I mean in terms of a slice or hook. What would you recommend for the cheapest device to show that which I could use with a net??
Can you or someone let us people just getting into sims know why we should buy say an r50 vs something like the square for 1/8th the price? If I want to build an indoor sim to play golf during the winter with my buddies, on a reliable accurate and consistent system which one would it be? I guess I was hoping to learn more about what made each tier better then the last one because based off this I don't see why I would need anything more then the square lm..
Square is new, unproven record. Has sold out. Can't buy. Maybe in a year it will be a game changer. Great potential but we have to wait - again no inventory.
@ I was really just using square as an example. I guess my question is at what point is there diminishing returns? Like if I wanted an xgolf style experience at home, which one is the cheapest an expert would suggest.. Maybe that's too lofty but seeing that the square is 99% as accurate as a gc3 for considerably less makes me wonder if that is where I should start
That is true. But I don’t think any launch monitor really works great from the grass. Assuming you’re making a divot you’re going to keep moving the device anyways. I would always consider them being used mostly with a mat outdoors.
@@LetsPlayThruagreed I had one for a short while and hit off a mat no issue other than a constant disconnect. My SC200 reads well off the grass tho for out door use.
It would be ultra helpful if you can differentiate between which ones require phone, iPad, or gaming PC so they could be accounted for in the cost. The ones that require gaming PC turn out to be much more expensive. Thanks.
Only disagree on SkyTrak+, calling indoor & OUTDOOR(???) is a real stretch. Putting on the ST+ has been proven to be unworthy of its price unless a recent software update has fixed it. For INDOOR & OUTDOOR I would have selected the EyeMini in this category. I get your choice because you were won over by the excellent software, but it doesn’t have a shot view, has no screen so it requires another device, nor is it as accurate with putting and chipping as the EyeMini. Finally, the ST+ is definitely not as suitable for use outside unless you are hitting off of mats at covered range, & you wouldn’t need it at a TopGolf facility. For this much money the EyeMini is the better option. That said, the jump from the EyeMini to the R50 is not that great that one would have to consider paying the difference & buying it over the EyeMini.
@@LetsPlayThru looks is not everything when it comes to sw, Game play is important too and apex still does not have the game play yet. There are also a number of LM's that support Apex. i would argue that the Apogee is one that does not have a lot of penetration in the home market compared to some of the other players. It alos has the smallest hitting area of all the overheads
