There are so many ways that NBA Live could get ahead of NBA 2k, we all know the gameplay and graphics are underwhelming which we can identify it as the main problem. Building a player is a lot cheaper in NBA Live its a good start to add it to the list of good things for that game, also when it comes to getting the rights of the brands and personnel they are waaay ahead of 2k imagine FIFA franchise they have the rights of the different leagues in every country and continuously updating the faces of the players they also have the rights of the FIFA world cup and almost every country. While on the manager mode they have different cut scenes when negotiating or signing a player and a player who is getting released and also an option of the manager to coach a national team that would play through same format on how the teams qualify for FIFA world cup in real life. Imagine all of that if the NBA Live can do it like FIFA specially for the MyGM/Association mode of NBA Live - playable games and real players on the NBA Dleague (almost all of the players in 2k are auto generated from the league cause they don't have the rights for that brand/league) - cut scenes on free agency negotiations such as signings, trades, waives (FIFA has a cutscenes of manager to manager conversations when trading or buying players from another club, this could be used as a cutscene on making trades in NBA) -answering media (which 2k has but based on FIFA their media interviews are more entertaining than 2k) - having a chance to coach for a national team (maybe only for USA because unlike FIFA franchise its the whole association for football, and this one should be focused on NBA (Team USA) since the game is not FIBA Live 24, they had an mode of FIBA World Cup during the early years of NBA Live and maybe they could add it to the association mode like the what 2k made on adding DLeague games on MyGM) -having a chance to play or use specific scouted players in draft combine even though they are auto generated players (concept of youth academy if fifa, the NBA 2k's version is just simulating the combine and just analyzing the results of the combine) while we don't have fully control on how the games graphics and gameplay will improve the least we can do is suggest, if you notice that this more on a MyGM/Association mode suggestion its because there are also a lot of players like us who loves playing manager modes I barely play online because my country is far from the 2k server the delays are awful when playing a online game. I used the FIFA franchise reference simply because it is also being developed by EA but I know there are separate development teams for each games, but if the other games of EA Sports are on the top of their fields like Madden who tf challenges the madden franchise? NONE! but correct me if am wrong. FIFA? They are outplaying PES eversince. on basketball? they are getting stomped by 2k. my point is if they can beat PES with their FIFA (i have played both and PES Feels like NBA Live and FIFA feels like NBA2k on a football nutshell) I hope they can also find a way to rise again and challenge NBA 2k. And don't get me started talking about college ball because EA also made a good NCAA basketball game which i prefer than the college hoops of NBA 2k. Just voicing out my thoughts hope someone would read this hahaha and if you're also a manager mode player/enjoyer who ever reads this i hope you also agree hahaha MAIN ADVANTAGE OF NBA LIVE on 2k = ACQUIRING RIGHTS OF BRANDS/LEAGUES
I didn't mind the game too much, but I couldn't get into it because they got rid of most of the throwback uniforms that were featured in the previous games.
If I'm being honest: Live 18 always felt better than 19 to me. Like you were saying early on, 19 felt just a hair "off" but for me, that's in comparison to *Live 18* rather than 2k19! I preferred Live 18 to 2k18, not because of microtransactions but because of gameplay. Live 19 felt like a step back from 18 to me
Hey SoftDrink, love these videos, and although this would be a video topic that kind of goes against a common theme of your channel’s videos, I think it would be very interesting to look at the battle between FIFA and PES/eFootball, because I think that’s actually the exception to the rule that competition makes games better. I actually think that because of the individual licensing deals EA and Konami have with teams, leagues, & even things like player likenesses, competition has actually made both games WORSE. But maybe you disagree- would love to hear your thoughts
I think the issue there is with exclusive licensing, not with competition. The issue with Madden is that EA has an exclusive license with the NFL. It’s similar
@@SOFTDRINKTV that’s true. Soccer games are in a unique position because they have to work with multiple leagues and organizations vs just the NFL, NBA, etc

All this is hilarious to me. I remember being in my dorm room in 08' telling my teammates that NBA2k was a much more superior game than NBA Live and now we live in an Era where Live doesn't even exist.... #Wow
I’m glad you making this vid. Definitely thought after live 19 and especially after they “break “ they was going to be competitive on next gen hopefully they watch this lol
We need SOMEONE to be a competitor to 2K I am gettin exhausted of almost the same game every year I love it but would like to see the market expand in that right
There's still a chance for Live. After Rory McIlroy PGA Tour that series was dead but now we're getting new EA Sports PGA Tour game next year. If they've revived golf series there's a big chance that'll make another basketball game. Also around last year (or was it 2 can't remember) one of the EA Sports executives said in interview that they're going to bring back some "dead" franchises - I believe he gave collage (NCAA), golf (PGA Tour) and baseball (MVP) as examples.
I haven't had a chance to watch this video yet but as soon as I saw the video I jumped up with excitement. This game still to this dominates majority of my gaming time, I've been playing it for years now. The community is still active, you can have multiple builds with no micro transactions. The only cost to you is the time it takes to learn the game. I'm active on PS if anyone is looking for a teammate to play with. There is also a league that I'm apart of that is highly competitive
I'd personally love to see NBA Jam come back. EA has the rights to both this and NFL Blitz, but refuses to do anything with them. It's an untapped market that EA should try to get into, since it's their best shot at making halfway-decent sports games (even if it's arcade-like).
As a lifelong Live fan, I actually bought this game at launch despite not owning the consoles to play it on at the time (I do now as of a few weeks ago) just to support the series.
I played NBA Live 18 vs 2k18 at the time when they were new and I owned them both. But I genuinely enjoyed the NBA Live better because it wasn’t extra complex on how to play, simple button commands and sit back for the “oohs and ahhs”. The graphics were fire AF too, the arenas to me seemed more detailed and graphic and realistic than playing 2K from looking at the players and the colors of the courts and tattoo’s. 2K is way more difficult to learn and enjoy only a pro could master. An adult to a kid can play NBA Live and play along and enjoy and keep up. 2K is for strategic wins, Live is for simple fun. I enjoy live all day
I seriously did not realize EA no longer made Live lol. But 2K still puts out a quality product and puts effort into it. It shows they have integrity, because EA doesn't do crap with Madden with no competition to challenge them.
I 10000% agree that they need and should only comeback as NBA Street. Probably the strongest aspect of NBA Live 19 was their version of Park, the "Pro-Am Mode". Going with an NBA Street games gives them the benefit to commit and focus on this 100% gameplay wise. They will draw in a ton of park/street players without having the current divide and trouble that 2K has going on with their game. That is Simulation + Arcade street gameplay in one package of NBA 2K. EA could easily ditch that simulation aspect and focus on the street/arcade side which people already loved about NBA Live 19
Live 18 was the last game I really played from the Live series. I really enjoyed the career mode and earning my players attributes. My favorite Live would have to be Live 04 and Live 96
Big men in today’s NBA are not slow. Plenty big men are ball handlers and can blow by people. The way 2K does big man speed is just wrong. 2K has so many people brainwashed nowadays. And the fact that a big can get out rebound and blocked by a smaller player is just wrong. Y’all give 2K too much credit man.
I loved the career mode in this. I agree 100% with releasing a new Street, it wouldn't have to even be too non-simulation style like the old ones, just a little more fun than scripted movement.
I've been an EA NBA game player since 1989 and still play Live 19. The 2K mechanics have always felt clunky to me, and I've struggled to get into any of their games. I haven't given up hope of a new Live game either.
I'm gonna miss NBA Live, I really hope their message about revamping it means they're coming out with a new Live at some point. I rlly do. I loved 19, it's a good game, not amazing, but good! I played it months on end when it came out, and it was fun af!! I'm gonna miss it unless they pull out some Trump card and release a new Live or Street haha.
It is crazy how back in 2019 I and my older brother got NBA live 19 and every time I come back to play live 19 is a very good game and seems that is way better than NBA 2k live 19 gameplay is fun and I beat both of PS4 and Xbox Series S I wish that they can be made NBA live 22/23 maybe next year we will never know?
To be fair in NBA 2k 18 and 19 possibly beyond as I ran out of patience at that point you can drive the lane with Shaq and his giant hands and he will fumble the ball out of bounds or give the ball away 5-7 times out of ten just like he didn't in real life. In fact its quite rare for a big to be completely stripped of the ball in the paint in real life and its far more likely he recovers if he does or draws the foul due to long arms and having position, its one thing if a steal occurs off of a driving guard who gets blocked in the paint by a center by centers stealing the ball from centers is very rare. That's not at all me trying to defend live 19 which has maybe a bit too much exploitability like the Horford clip and a lack of interest for me at least beyond a few games in one sitting and one full team season ever. I still think its a massive shame that EA immediately re killed Live just as it seemed to have a solid foundation again, 2k would probably be slightly better for one, but also I liked Live 19s gameplay more than 2k18 and 19 despite the flaws it was at times more organic a bit like 2k16 or 2k14 it was possible to have that rare hit from a contested fader from a good shooter as opposed to certain 2ks where it can be hard to replicate certain "impossible" shots the real Steph Curry makes constantly.
MAN.. when you said "NBA Street" .. My eyes LIT-UP😳WOW! That would be an AMAZINGG idea! That game was WAYYY ahead of its time.. & ironically enough, street park is what kids play on 2K ! its so sad that these Greedy Companies dont listen to the public & just go with the ol' lazy MTX for money grabs.. We're literally giving them a Cash-Machine Blueprint! 'Scrap the "LIVE" part.. Re-Introduce as "NBA STREET" w/o the MTX & fully working from the start, with all the accessories!' People will stand in line like they did back in Halo 2/3 days. Guaranteed! The "STREET" part is what they should focus on, with real courts.. As someone that hadn't played a basketball game in FOREVER, i wanted to try out one of the more recent games. So i tried the 2k game. Which i was a 2k fan. I played tons of 2k and 2k1 on Dreamcast. Then i tried NBA Live 19. and i thought NBA Live was the better game. I didn't delve into features or modes etc. Im just talking about what gameplay i enjoyed. Something about the controls and movement of 2k felt off to me. Ironically the EA game felt more like what i remember the dreamcast 2k games feeling like
I bought this game for like $20 on sale around the time it came out and I really enjoyed it. My only gripe is that for me, playing against the AI on the streets was insanely hard. I had a team of 90+ overalls and would get smoked by a team of 70 overalls. Or it would take button mashing, sweat running focus to beat them. And still would only squeak out a 2 point victory. I like the challenge and all but it just seemed unnecessarily hard. If it wasn't for this I would probably still be playing because the game was really fun.
@@NefariousNewfie I actually went back to playing this after years of being away (lost my save data and had to restart everything) and the bots seem a lot less ruthless now than they were. Maybe after a while EA smoothed it out. I remember grinding to get Terrell Owens and he was trash, couldn't make a shot to save his life. Now they gifted him to me and he is a freaking cheat code. He balls out, hitting 3's left and right and jamming the rim. I just keep feeding him the rock. I've actully been enjoying this game way more than the last couple 2K's. I got a free trial for 2K23 and I really wasn't impressed by it. I didn't even finish the 2 hour trial and went back to playing this because I was having more fun.
I actually still play this game when i want to play online 3v3. All you have to do is look for a match and you're loading into a game in 30 seconds. FIVE YEARS AFTER RELEASE TOO!!! The main thing that I enjoy about Live 19 is the atmosphere. In playoffs mode the crowd is electric and when you make a big shot they explode. The playoff atmosphere in 2k is the crowd wearing the same t shirt and the occasional Defense chant it’s not the same and it’s something 2k could fix so easily but they just don’t
Based off how Poorly recieved recent E.A sports games are. NBA Live dodged a bullet by ending early. NBA Live 19 is the end of NBA Live series probably because it was actually good which is nowadays a rarity for EA sports games

Something was missing.. i felt disconnected from it. Live is more ALIVE. It feels good, and is a better gaming experience than given credit. For anybody that still loves Live, truly give the game a shot.. it’s worth the time
This game had a lot of potential, animations were really good but ball physics ruined the whole feel of the game, it's almost like your playing with a balloon in stead of a basketball, but still, it was a nice foundation

Imagine all of that if the NBA Live can do it like FIFA specially for the MyGM/Association mode of NBA Live
- playable games and real players on the NBA Dleague (almost all of the players in 2k are auto generated from the league cause they don't have the rights for that brand/league)
- cut scenes on free agency negotiations such as signings, trades, waives (FIFA has a cutscenes of manager to manager conversations when trading or buying players from another club, this could be used as a cutscene on making trades in NBA)
-answering media (which 2k has but based on FIFA their media interviews are more entertaining than 2k)
- having a chance to coach for a national team (maybe only for USA because unlike FIFA franchise its the whole association for football, and this one should be focused on NBA (Team USA) since the game is not FIBA Live 24, they had an mode of FIBA World Cup during the early years of NBA Live and maybe they could add it to the association mode like the what 2k made on adding DLeague games on MyGM)
-having a chance to play or use specific scouted players in draft combine even though they are auto generated players (concept of youth academy if fifa, the NBA 2k's version is just simulating the combine and just analyzing the results of the combine)
while we don't have fully control on how the games graphics and gameplay will improve the least we can do is suggest, if you notice that this more on a MyGM/Association mode suggestion its because there are also a lot of players like us who loves playing manager modes I barely play online because my country is far from the 2k server the delays are awful when playing a online game.
Just voicing out my thoughts hope someone would read this hahaha and if you're also a manager mode player/enjoyer who ever reads this i hope you also agree hahaha
MAIN ADVANTAGE OF NBA LIVE on 2k = ACQUIRING RIGHTS OF BRANDS/LEAGUES
NBA LIVE need comeback again to competive with 2K, We need something diferent
Live 18 and 19 was so good. They decided to take the break and skip to 21 and it just never happened. It really upsets me
This live was actually fire. Loved playing their my career mode and playing at all the parks around the world
I didn't mind the game too much, but I couldn't get into it because they got rid of most of the throwback uniforms that were featured in the previous games.
I actually really enjoyed this game. Still go back to it every once in a while. The my player mode is cool
Dude I hope somebody at EA listened to your nba street idea you’re so spot on
If I'm being honest: Live 18 always felt better than 19 to me. Like you were saying early on, 19 felt just a hair "off" but for me, that's in comparison to *Live 18* rather than 2k19! I preferred Live 18 to 2k18, not because of microtransactions but because of gameplay. Live 19 felt like a step back from 18 to me
Thank you we needed to hear this I dislike live 19 I always Admired live 18 tho 18 had Potential and people should be playing 18 then live 19
Exactly how I feel ... Game had potential, online mode still fun, still feel like basketball when you play with the right people, but the NBA part of it not that great ...
😔😔😔😔
Could be worked ... Could be better on the next one, but ...
Still play occasionally, the one mode was always my favorite
*the streetball mode was FANTASTIC, they should make a game strictly based on that mode 👌 have about 10 different street courts in a city and let us travel to each court day or night and challenge ballers there 👌 off court, let us buy different cars to drive in, condo's to live in, choose girlfriends, shoe deals, etc....kinda like a RPG but with basketball* 👍
These reviews bring tears to my heart...thanks SD
I hope it’s not the last one, I actually enjoyed nba live 19 quite a bit, especially the approach to the career mode
Me too I like NBA Live 19
They definitely seemed to be on the right track since Live 10, it’s just a shame they didn’t bother to release the next years version because I think it could have been great
I still download and play this game occasionally to this day. It was cool. I like the difference in gameplay versus 2K.
Facts me too
I love Live 19 and I really hope they can bring the title back again.
Me and my friend play live against each other all the time 😂 she deadass got EVERY achievement
All this is hilarious to me. I remember being in my dorm room in 08' telling my teammates that NBA2k was a much more superior game than NBA Live and now we live in an Era where Live doesn't even exist.... #Wow
Crazy
I’m glad you making this vid. Definitely thought after live 19 and especially after they “break “ they was going to be competitive on next gen hopefully they watch this lol
We need SOMEONE to be a competitor to 2K I am gettin exhausted of almost the same game every year I love it but would like to see the market expand in that right
2k23 is nowhere near the same game lol
I still play Live 19. I just played 2k23 today for the first time and I’m going back to Live 19.
I enjoy live all day
NBA live 19 was and could of been a solid foundation to continue to build from and they just let it go away, shame
The only gameplay complaint I have is if you don’t follow the arrow you get your ankles broken even if the guy is just dribbling to the left 😂
Live-run not "pro-am" mode
@@jayrukks8039 It was "Pro-Am Live Run"...
Live 18 was the last game I really played from the Live series. I really enjoyed the career mode and earning my players attributes. My favorite Live would have to be Live 04 and Live 96
Live 19 is the best basketball game that came out in over a decade the game was criminally underrated
I fw the idea of NBA Street in 2022 man the possibilities make my mind do backflips
I still play this time to time. This game isn’t bad honestly
I loved the career mode in this.
I agree 100% with releasing a new Street, it wouldn't have to even be too non-simulation style like the old ones, just a little more fun than scripted movement.
I was actually having fun playing this during covid it was refreshing
dude I was watching a video about a lobster named Leon and he used the Sarasota Seamen touchdown theme. gave me a chuckle😂
Live 19 is fun but I'm not fully sold on the gameplay. With that being said I still typically enjoy playing it when I load it up
I've been an EA NBA game player since 1989 and still play Live 19.
I still play this live to this day
They need to make a new NBA Street, or maybe come up with college basketball if NCAA Hoops 2k doesn’t come up with one.
I was just playing this game in2020 when covid happened it was so much fun i liked the simplicity of the franchise mode
Broadcast style is amazing. I’m playing a Knicks franchise right now, really enjoying it. I played soooo much NBA Live 10 as a kid
Great video. But just wanted to say that the wnba was added in 2K20 first not 2K21. 21 is where they introduced the W for next gen
Should have checked that, I wasn’t 100% sure. You’re right, thanks
Oh and the track that starts at 3:54 please when you get time i hope u don't forget tho lol
This game was a lot of fun ngl. The presentation was just top notch, gameplay wasn’t half bad either. I wish they’d come back tbh
I liked the Live 19 gameplay better too
Please don't give up EA. Please. The community needs you.
Completely agree on NBA Street. Would love to see a new current street game.
I played both Live 18 and 19, both times pretty fun games if you’re looking for more unrealistic and arcade type gameplay
MAN.. when you said "NBA Street" .. I was watching Brazil vs. Puerto Rico 3v3 FiBA few weeks ago in a court outside in Miami, Fl. I had NO IDEA this cool ass court was a thing.. Very awesome video & idea!! Keep it up!👌
I love NBA Live 19 I'm a fan I like it more than 2K
Thanks for making this vid me personally I really liked it tbh
As someone that hadn't played a basketball game in FOREVER, i wanted to try out one of the more recent games. So i tried the 2k game. Which i was a 2k fan. I played tons of 2k and 2k1 on Dreamcast. Then i tried NBA Live 19.
and i thought NBA Live was the better game. I didn't delve into features or modes etc. Im just talking about what gameplay i enjoyed. Something about the controls and movement of 2k felt off to me. Ironically the EA game felt more like what i remember the dreamcast 2k games feeling like
One of my favorite parts of live 19 was the Icon system in the career mode
I played tf out of this game mostly because I had 2k fatigue. It was honestly good
I grew up on live
I bought this game for like $20 on sale around the time it came out and I really enjoyed it. My only gripe is that for me, playing against the AI on the streets was insanely hard. I had a team of 90+ overalls and would get smoked by a team of 70 overalls. Or it would take button mashing, sweat running focus to beat them. And still would only squeak out a 2 point victory. I like the challenge and all but it just seemed unnecessarily hard. If it wasn't for this I would probably still be playing because the game was really fun.
bots in live run are monsters i cant stand when ppl message U cAnT BeAt A bOt er ma gerd
multiple times ive had bot teamates and whooped a full team of 90s bc the bots on D are locked on
@@NefariousNewfie I actually went back to playing this after years of being away (lost my save data and had to restart everything) and the bots seem a lot less ruthless now than they were.
Brittany’s block at the end😂
I actually still play this game when i want to play online 3v3.
All you have to do is look for a match and you're loading into a game in 30 seconds. FIVE YEARS AFTER RELEASE TOO!!!
Beats the hell out of waiting courtside for a game to end while no one wants to play with you or the other team leaves and keeps you waiting...
Still playing nba live 19 on my Xbox series x. Nba live 19 is my fav basketball game of all time. Playing live run online 3v3 and 5v5 is the best.
Really wish EA would give us NBA Street vol. 2 and NFL street remakes.
Ima avid gamer.. and been playing 2K since 2K2 and been playing NBA Live since 98.. I recently was super hype after playing 2K23 and continued to play that for months.. but it felt off. Something was missing.. i felt disconnected from it. In search of that feeling I cycled through the other 2Ks that are available on next gen until I came back to Live 19.. and ever since I’ve been spending more time with the game, I’ve noticed all the HUGE flaws with 2K.. so much so I can barely get through one game of it before turning it off. Live is more ALIVE. It feels good, and is a better gaming experience than given credit. For anybody that still loves Live, truly give the game a shot.. it’s worth the time
Did anyone else here have their heart skip a beat when he mentioned the idea of a new NBA street?
This game had a lot of potential, animations were really good but ball physics ruined the whole feel of the game, it's almost like your playing with a balloon in stead of a basketball, but still, it was a nice foundation
I played 18 not long ago and the gameplay is whatever, but the presentation is still very impressive and I reference it when I hate on Madden
I preferred Live 18 and 19 to NBA 2k. They felt a little more player friendly.
do u guys not realize that this game is still bumpin in online 3s? at least on xbox thanks to gamepass. (you can also get the disc for like $20 on ps4) I play on both consoles all the time but ps4 dies out around midnight whereas i can play on xbox til 4 am
I bought the game in 2020 and to this day theres still a community. It's small but on Xbox they still play live till this day
