In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to tie dye a camouflage inspired spiral using liquid procion dye from Dharma Trading Company.

The foundation of our tie dye is the fold. It’s the first important step. It really helps the end result. I’m glad you like it. I don’t normally use colors like this. 😉❤️🌈

Thanks. Nope. I pre wash with probably 20-30 shirts, and the final wash out is with everything for the day. So probably 6-8 shirts. ❤️🌈

Just curious why you can't use hot water to wash out the soda ash ? I do like the shirt and all the colors you chosed.
Good question, Judy. Hot water sets the dye. Any dye that hasn’t bonded during batching can deposit in unwanted areas. Also, Dharma says so. ❤️🌈

The hemostats I got are the same as yours and it punched 3 holes through 3 of my shirts lol
They shouldn’t. 😫 Are you forcing the spiral? There shouldn’t be any resistance. Watch some of my recent spirals and really pay attention to how I spin them up. ❤️🌈

Oh, I have a question. I have looked but I can't find anything so I thought you might be able to help me. I'm looking to do a shirt with a cross on the front. I tried with my own pattern but used Kite string and....of course that didn't work. I used your link and ordered some sinew, so hopefully when it comes in, I will be able to try again!! Have you done one before? Thanks!!
A cross, like a religious cross or an X? I haven’t done any religion type shirts. Mr. Tie Dye has one. Fold your shirt in half or isolate out the front… draw on half the cross, like a half a heart or snowflake, like we did as kids… then sinew tie it off. Sorry I’m not more help. 😣❤️🌈

When you use one of the condiment bottles, how much liquid do you make? Looks like about 3 ounces for the individual colors on the front?
Usually I mix 1 cup of water to 2 tsp, 4* tsp, **8 tsp of dye. I follow Dharma’s instructions. Sometimes I’ll makes smaller batches. It just depends on what I’m doing. ❤️🌈

How would a person do something the size of a bed sheet using rubber bands to sinch it tight.
Extra large rubber bands or string or thread. Masking tape around the perimeter. @riahstiedye she uses tape. You might find a demonstration there. Good luck on your sheets!! 🫶❤️🌈

No. If I do things out of the norm I will explain it. 😁♥️🌈
Can this wasching in the Maschine ?
I wash all my dyes in a washing machine. ❤️🌈
Does it matter which side you face down when you batch it?
I usually put the darkest side down. That being said, there is no wrong way. ❤️🌈
