The 6D MkII was my first full frame camera. Even with all the DR hate, I got some really good shots with it. Never used video function. Was huge and heavy with the grip. Also, it's actually more expensive now than it was in 2019. This should be a $900 camera at best right now.
I thought why does this video lack so much detail! I bumped the res to 4k, yet no details then I realised it's the 6D lmao. It's similar to my old Canon 1200D.

It might have the worst Dynamic Range when used in daylight conditions, but as an Night time Camera, especially Astro, it is still at the top of the list for this type of photography. It all depends on how you use it and what you use it for. it will continue to march on for a long time.
After much research, I grabbed the 6d mark 2 for astro.. with a Sigma 24mm 1.4.. just waiting for a clear night to get out there. Will I ever use the video function? Probably not.
I have a 6dii (Tamron 35 SP + Canon 24-105L) that is my low light camera. For landscapes I use my apsc Nikon d7200 (Sigma 10-20) as it blows the Canons away for low ISO DR. For animals etc. I have the 7dii (Canon 100-400L +1.4 Extender). My EOS M is my indoor video cam now (Sigma 18-35) and outdoor my Sony 1080p Handycam with its brilliant stabilisation. Bit of a mix but it works for me. I knock the video together in VSDC and if needed fix the audio in Reaper.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago now and before you gasp I've been blown away by the image quality I'm getting out of it with two cheap lenses, the nifty fifty (new STM version) and the 75-300mm f4-5.6 III.
Always thought Canon color was a lot better than the ridiculously magenta Fuji color (Fuji color really sucks in my opinion), while the magenta tint of Canon is a bit more tolerable. Watching this in 4k, 6DII was really soft, I agree with the rest of the comments. But "soft" is good for human subjects.
@@Someone_Else1 Well it may be subjective, but this video shows Casey really looks like a lobster with Fuji. Maybe that's why Fuji fanboys are so enamored with its color. Greenish/Yellowish is really more Sony than Canon. I know that because I shoot on Sony. LOL.
Wow, back to the streets, slo-mo crossings....instantly put a smile on my face! Thought the Canon would not hold up, surprise it did a pretty good job!
The big issue in A7S3 and FX3, every colorist complains, is the ugly green to yellow rolloff. Even dslrshooter created a lut to try to fix it. That color issue is fixed on A7IV.
Is it though? I've heard "the Sony colour issue is fixed" for almost every camera going back to the A7III. By the time we got to the A7SIII, I heard it was far superiour to Canon.
Yup, that was an issue, DSLRshooter created a Lut to mitigate or try to fix it. Watch the Gerald Undone color charts from A1 and A7SIII in A7IV. It shows Magenta roll-off issue on A1 and green-yellow roll-off issue on A7SIII/FX3. Fixed on A7IV.
I’ve travelled around some different systems over the last few years and as far as overall rendering/IQ, canon images still stand out. Even editing old 1dx photos is a blast compared to the fujis.
"I need more detail on my face", says no one ever. The low video quality but good color science on these Canon are my favorite. Canon's DPAF are great for video too.
I own one with a 24-105mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens. Wonderful combination. This non-L lens is amazing. I shoot pictures, not video. I'm happy. I bought it because I'm old and I can't carry my 1-Ds Mk III around for very long.
I have no idea what you are saying most of the time on this channel, I am hoping to learn by osmosis, but I enjoy your humor. So I am subscribed for a while now.
You translated my thoughts! So what if Sony is sharp, it makes people look older! And that's definitely not what you want to look like on your wedding. Thanks for sharing this tests with us!
Those RF canon prime lenses have a external zoom to the front element. Reason why I sent all my canon stuff back . The lenses are either super cheap or super expensive
Most DSLRs are cripple hammered to hell and back recently, Nikon could easily make the D6 compete directly with the Z9 as the D780 showed us a DSLR with Mirrorless-era tech can be done but nobody would buy the new lenses or the new systems to begin with, only Pentax bothered to put all their tech into a DSLR. Dog intermission deserves a well-deserved likey like button push.
I launched/sustained a freelance career on the 6DII for 3 years before upgrading to the A7SIII. Ropey with noise and detail but absolutely solid system. Unrelated note: the new Thor film comes very close to stealing your Canon Cripple Hammer gag 🔨
If you edit in Davinci you can easily turn down mid-level detail to make you 10 years younger. It's like using a mist filter. I'd rather have a detailed clip and edit it in post and adjust to my liking.
YES!!!!! The Vlogs are back, if only for 1 episode 🤣🤣 Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos.... and if I'm being honest, you inspired me to start vlogging, thank you again!! Love all your content btw💯💯
I still have the 6D. The sensor noise is better than the mark 2. Go figure. They brought out a new camera with updated tech, but lowered the quality of the sensor. The 6D is also better in terms of noise than the 5Div. I also owned the 1DXii for a time and I much prefer the 6D, and it's 4 times cheaper. Only thing is it doesn't have the flippy screen and has low frame rate.
I'll take the bluetooth, touchscreen (articulating), 45 focus points vs 11 and 30% more pixels of the 6D Mk II. It actually has higher ISO settings too. I ran a 6D and 6D Mk II for years before going mirrorless. The Mk II is much more versatile and at any ISO under 6500 there is no difference in noise. The Mk II is the better choice for most situations. I used the 6D for astrophotography for a while because of this, before switching to specialist cooled cameras.
@@stew_redman I only ever use one focus point with BBF. The rest are redundant. And 20mp is enough for me. mp isn't everything. I've ordered the R7 and I think 32mp is too much for a crop sensor. I'd sooner have 20, but unfortunately I think turning it down 1 step to "MRAW" is about 15mp. So it isn't well balanced. Higher mp naturally introduces more noise and camera shake so isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially with the file sizes. I like some of the updated features of the 6D Mii but that much higher price tag just isn't worth it, especially as the noise is worse. Several tests out there from differrent sources confirm this. It's like the updated Digic processor adds sharpening to the image and it makes it more noisy. A step backwards for Canon.
I have a new-to-me 6D that I bought 2 weeks ago in mint condition for 410 bucks. Yes, the 6Dii might have a flippy screen and 6 MP more, but it is also 3x more expensive than what I paid for my 6D. Along with my 5D Classic, the 6D is a keeper and still holds its own against current cameras.
@@ArcanePath360 We'll have to agree to disagree. Having owned both I think the 6D Mk II is objectively better than its predecessor, unless you only ever take pictures with a single focus point in very dimly-lit places and never have to crop.
@@villagranvicent It really doesn't hold it's own against current cameras. I used to think that about the 6D Mk II. Whilst still a good camera I now run with an R5 and have an EOS R as backup. Both of these camera are leagues ahead, even though the EOS R only has a slight bump in resolution against the 6D Mk II. It really is a case of you don't know what you're missing until you try it. Focus speed, sharpness, and features are just noticeably better.
Sony zv-1.. shoot HLG3 and use an Ulanzi wide-angle adapter that turns the camera to a 18mm. Post with Catalyst Browse, color correct it and you’ll still get around 20mm to 22mm coverage with the most killer stabe. Smallest rig, insane portability and IQ.. that’s it.
Love my 6DII the dynamic range is really pretty damn good for a camera that was half the price of the 5DIV it did compare the problem was it wasn’t as good as the original 6D and that’s a problem. I really love the look of the video. It’s not clinically sharp. Unless you put a Sigma Art on it… that camera + sigma is stupid sharp! Try one if you can.
If you like it, then nothin' else really matters. But the dynamic range on the 6DII is objectively not as good as other modern cameras, and no lens is ever going to make line-skipped 1080p look "stupid sharp" xD
So the big question is what would you talk about on your vlog if you actually had the perfect camera and were sitting there using it? What would we learn then? I don't suppose you could just pretend that you have the perfect camera and see what happens next?
crazy you'd make it sound like the XT3 doesn't have good dynamic range when at the time or release it had one of the best out there and was right behind the BMPCC6K. It still to this day has more DR than any of Canon's cameras that don't have the CLOG2 curve
I have a 6Dii. It’s fine. Takes great pics. Dynamic range is fine. Focuses great. Video is great. Not one thing wrong with this camera. That said, carry on with your entertaining bashing.
I have both cameras, 70-200 on the R and a 24-70 or another wide lens on the 6D MKII. Both using EF glass. Image-wise, there is minimal difference. 26mp vs 30mp. For photography, the 6DMKII is still a beast. My opinion, save your money and keep shooting with the 6DMKII.
Love mine for photography. I am the consumer who wanted it. I wanted an 80d with a full frame. And as a hobbyist, I’m gonna ride this thing until the wheels fall off. It’s giving me pretty good value for dollar.
OK, I'll do it. I'll write a serious comment under CamCon video! Here we go! Realistically, for the simple reason that the only thing people really care about in a video like that is the content, this old camera gives perfectly fine IQ. Especially with a good lens.
How much dynamic range is too much? Things get kind of muddy when you try to save everything. Canon here looks like it has bumped up the mids on the tone curve, sacrificing some range, but achieving a brighter skin tone. Sony gives you that dirty Venice beach homeless hippie look.
@@adaster98 I'm talking video though. Raw works for those photos you absolutely need to save, because you can easily shoot raw+jpeg. Video you have to choose, and shooting raw all the time is too much.
@@adaster98 raw video makes massive files to store, hard to work with for a lot of machines, and for most use cases why increase the workflow of you can have good looking footage straight out of camera? Not everything is either cinema or phone footage. There's a large space in between.
@@adaster98 Yeah, and I increase contrast generally, which lowers the dynamic range in the image and reduces the muddiness. Idk what you're arguing for here??
Regards Fuji and magenta, I used to process films in a pro lab in the 1980's, a Fuji lab. Although it was a C41 process, Fuji C41 was always a bit warmer than Kodak C41 which was a cooler looking process.
Does Canon 24p look weird to anyone else? It has a digital micro-choppiness to it I don't get with other brands. Maybe I'm crazy. It's subtle, but there. 30p is fine though.
Are you sure that's not the EF 16-35 F/4L? The EF 16-35 F/2.8L doesn't have IS to my knowledge. That's one reason why I bought the F/4; cost being the other reason.
@@cameraconspiracies 😂🤣 yeah. All Canon lenses with IS have an on/off switch for it. No stabe + no IBIS = shaky footage. At least you were in focus the whole time. The 6D II is one body I didn't buy. Too crippled even for me. The dynamic range was worse than the original; all the reviewers killed it.
In the studio it looks like the Canon and Sony are exposed a little different; this can happen between systems, even if the numbers are the same. It also can be that the default curves in the two are different. I know everyone is saying the Canon looks better, but that (IMO) is only if you don't post process. With the Sony dynamic range and bit rates you can easily make it look like the Canon or better.

I agree, but Nikon colour science is the best (for me).
Fuji color science works great on Asians, while Nikon color science make Asians look like liver cancer patients.
Funny how opinions can vary in regards to color. I realy liked the fuji better. The canon skin colors were more greenish/yellowish
Just found this channel and this is the best thing ever! Subscribed!
OMG funny stuff. Nice comparison but your hot dog diet vs lettuce diet had me rolling.
Hi I like your shirt, do you offer it in a 4XL Tall size?
I’m hoping it will give me a slimming effect around my pear shaped body.
Ahg, love your videos, I am glad that you did this one as well, I was looking for some canon 6d Ii review.
The 6dII, performance per dollar, was the best camera nobody bought.
I bought one. As a hobbyist, changed photography for me. So I still love it and use it.
I’ve travelled around some different systems over the last few years and as far as overall rendering/IQ, canon images still stand out. Even editing old 1dx photos is a blast compared to the fujis.
Wow, I was up early enough to see this posted.
The canon you used in the nature walk a few weeks ago was crazy good.
"I need more detail on my face", says no one ever. The low video quality but good color science on these Canon are my favorite. Canon's DPAF are great for video too.
I love the wildlife content, but man, the vlogs are always nice to watch.👍
dude. i love the hot dog cleanse...
This old camera still putting in great work
lol Dude your the best camera reviewer and content maker on this subject. Love the humour you bring keeps me coming back. Good job my friend Cheers!
The 6D Mark II honestly doesn't look too bad to me. It's far from the best, but it's still usable.
"I'm on a hot dog cleanse" I'm crying lmao
literally pissed myself laughing all the way through the video lol
I love my fuji xt3. I vlog with the Sony zv1 and shoot broll with the xt3. It's still a beast of a camera.
Bro this is great humor great content
On the 6D, I think it's the back dial (next to the screen) that changes the aperture. Canon's interface is weird.
Disagree, totally stole it
I was mad because I knew no one else knew lol
Amazing content! You should do a Netflix special Stand-up comedy about cameras)
I love my 6d its very good, great video, you alway amuse - greetings from the uk.
If you edit in Davinci you can easily turn down mid-level detail to make you 10 years younger. It's like using a mist filter. I'd rather have a detailed clip and edit it in post and adjust to my liking.
We're all waiting for a nature nurd-out with sidekick...
Please explain LOG format.
Sony zv-1.. shoot HLG3 and use an Ulanzi wide-angle adapter that turns the camera to a 18mm. Post with Catalyst Browse, color correct it and you’ll still get around 20mm to 22mm coverage with the most killer stabe. Smallest rig, insane portability and IQ.. that’s it.
I love this camera. Take beautiful images
Mosquito repellent 😂 .... gold.
How often do you do giveaways?
Everything aside from the resolution on the Canon is great. That line skipping really hurts it.
Love it man. Love it.
😂😂😂😂 this guy is very funny!
Did not the Sony A99 have a crazy flippy screen?
Hahaha I couldn't believe it when I saw the google map label for your dwelling. Well played Sir.
Tbh Canon for the last decade is purposely not making the best-perfect camera but make one that you can live with it for long term...
That`s a really strange story you tellin man.
I tried it and i have to say it was absolute rubbish, the worst camera for the price. Hands down.
@@brugj03 yeah for photography i disliked the camera… i owned it for like a month.. hated it.. sold it.. sony only..
@@sasca854 Ok 👍
@@brugj03 👍
So the big question is what would you talk about on your vlog if you actually had the perfect camera and were sitting there using it? What would we learn then? I don't suppose you could just pretend that you have the perfect camera and see what happens next?
crazy you'd make it sound like the XT3 doesn't have good dynamic range when at the time or release it had one of the best out there and was right behind the BMPCC6K. It still to this day has more DR than any of Canon's cameras that don't have the CLOG2 curve
I never said that.
What's up with the new panny g95 listed as a new release coming soon on BNH????? Interesting
I really like your delicate use of sharpness "fix" if you hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have noticed it. 🙄
I have a 6Dii. It’s fine. Takes great pics. Dynamic range is fine. Focuses great. Video is great. Not one thing wrong with this camera. That said, carry on with your entertaining bashing.
So surprised how much nicer it looks vs the other cameras. Sharp as butter though
I own a Canon 6Dmkii and I love it (for photography) but would you recommend trading it in for a Canon R and adapting lenses?
After decades of waiting (C20D owner) for ideal Canon D-SLR for photo&video, I choosed BMPCC4K & C6DMkII.
I would still recommend get R/RP over 6D2, especially the R updated the autofocus is as fast as majority of the Sony's
@@zegzbrutal I prefer resolution and latency of optical viewfinder.
It looks like C6DMkII in video mode on M (manual) allow change apperture.
How much dynamic range is too much?
Things get kind of muddy when you try to save everything.
Canon here looks like it has bumped up the mids on the tone curve, sacrificing some range, but achieving a brighter skin tone.
Sony gives you that dirty Venice beach homeless hippie look.
I don't even know what happened to the Fujifilm. Why is it so ugly rn? it's looking like a beta version of Sony.
Driver waits for people to start crossing before putting the pedal down. Lmao.
I got the mark 1 back in the day because it was the “low light king”. It wasn’t and I returned it after a couple of days.
Don't forget only a few months away from a new GP 11!! Maybe you'll like this one.
A touch of sharpening ha ha. Looks like you’re shooting in the middle of an atomic airburst event.
Can’t wait for the Canon R7 review :)
Does Canon 24p look weird to anyone else? It has a digital micro-choppiness to it I don't get with other brands. Maybe I'm crazy. It's subtle, but there. 30p is fine though.
Hey Kasey -- what brand should-strap camera clippy thing are you using? It's not in the list of equipment in the video and not in your Amazon list....
th-cam.com/video/dOlb15FJwwY/w-d-xo.html
Are you sure that's not the EF 16-35 F/4L? The EF 16-35 F/2.8L doesn't have IS to my knowledge. That's one reason why I bought the F/4; cost being the other reason.
Is that why the stabe was so bad? LOL. Yea, I just assumed it had stabe, it's the f2.8.
Looking great 🤩
But im confused… wasnt the 1dx mark 3 the last DSLR from Canon?
