Don't Ban My Beloved Bully! - Calls To Cull The Breed Met With Resistance | Good Morning Britain

- It’s being claimed that hundreds of American XL bully dogs in the UK are being bred from pit bull semen imported from the United States. The Daily Telegraph claims that despite a ban on pit bull breeding in Britain, American kennels charge up to £16,000 for frozen semen, which is legal, and ship it to the UK to produce “XL bully” puppies. The US breeders use two different registers to record pit bulls and American bullies, allowing their semen to be sold as either breed to different customers.
Mum of two and owner of XL 'Tank', Alecia Elliot says Tank is the “friendliest and most loyal dog ever and is a support to her autistic son. She’s also starting a public petition to fight the PM’s plan to ban the breed.

Attempts were made to find an XL Bully owner that isn't as thick as pig shit, but the team is still searching several days later!
EXACTLY
Your dad is a weak weasel
A responsible owner would present their dog neutered, muzzled and kept on a lead at all times when in public. So far I haven't seen one wearing a muzzle.
@@FaceAway-xb9hd not sure why you call me paranoid. Apologies you don’t seem to comprehend the question, it was in relation to your ‘there are thousands’ response, I now take it you mean there are thousands of sensible owners who can actually string a sentence together. I’ve unfortunately seen an XL rip another dog apart given a chance.
Best of luck.
@@FaceAway-xb9hd I have never seen an XL Bully wearing a muzzle. A guy round here who told me his massive beast was 'friendly' as it barked and growled at me and my dog. Then lone and behold, a couple of days later, a man and his dog were approached by this dog and the XL Bully lunged at his dog. There should have been an order to muzzle and leash these dogs in public places as soon as these incidents started happening.
I am by no means 'fragile', I have lived in some pretty rough areas and have plenty of life experience thanks, however these dogs are a risk to the public, a risk to children and a direct risk to my dog. I always avoid XL Bullies while I am out walking now, it's just not worth the risk.
"Any breed can switch"
Not every breed can rip a person to shreds though
I never heard of a Collie killing a child. Or a spaniel.
True. Even big dogs don’t have that power. Labradors and Great Danes I’d be comfortable around but I wouldn’t go anywhere near an XL Bully because they are quite literally built different
Humans can kill too but not banned
@@Ontheedgeofglory we keep them away from the public though
@@nathaliegrieves3859 google spaniel rage syndrome, many people have been killed by spaniels especially pure ginger cockers (usually small children but I’m sure a very determined cocker would have a small chance of killing an adult). Springers and black or black and white cocker spaniels are less likely to have spaniel rage.
I’ve had a black and white springer in the past and he was completely fine, socialised and trained.
Pit bull type dogs are rarely aggressive if people put the time and energy into training them at a young age. Unfortunately many morons get a big mean looking dog thinking it’s cool yet then don’t train and it and when their dog attacks someone all pit bull type dogs end up being stereotyped and demonised. I’ve seen many of these kinds of dogs and none of them have acted aggressive towards other dogs or people at least from what I’ve seen. Plenty of other dog breeds I’ve seen snapping, growling and tugging at the lead to get to another dog though. I remember I was walking my dog and a huge greyhound was snapping at my dog teeth fully bared, and we were on the complete otherside of the road
There was a woman in Liverpool who left her XL bully in the care of her father-in-law when she went for a night out. When she returned home she discovered her father-in -law dead....ripped up by her dog.Police attended and shot the dog.The woman seemed more concerned about losing her dog .She actually said her dog,"Must have been playing....he plays a bit rough!"
Yes - owners are as thick as two short planks.
That happened in Wrexham. Your story of the events of the dog bite on Keven Jones and where his daughther in law was at the time of the incident are wildy different to the news reports, but she did write that last phrase on her FB post.
Also, her partner was an American Bully XL breeder. You would have thought he would have known how to train that breed properly.
You cannot train out what was bred in

Trash dogs for trash people. In the US, three people have died from Pit Bull attacks in the last five days. It's the only aggressive type of dog that comes with an unlimited amount of excuses. Advocates think it's normal to spend $10,000 on training with little result, spend $100's a year on medication and live with an unfixed animal that causes $1,000's in property damage. The majority of dogs require no training or meds, do minimal property damage and still make great pets and loyal companions.

I think they lost the point when they said any breed can turn. Which I agree with as a child I was bitten by a labradore. But the damage labradore did compared to this size of dog bully xl is the difference between life and death. Muzzles, at least in public. Because no one should lose a child because of a person's stupidity.
"Any dog can turn, but not ours".
Not just the size. The bite strength and willingness to attack are much higher in XL bullies. Labradors have killed people, but it's a much rarer event even thought there are more labradors around than XL bullies. The labrador is bred to retrieve, the XL bully is bred to attack. That's the whole issue.
This is patently false. The labrador has a stronger bite force than a traditional pit bull, look it up.

@damiagunbiade what you just said in the first sentence IS a ban on the breed. The existing XL bullies in the community will be required to be neutered so they cannot make offspring. But you can say that about any big breed. Shepherds, mastiffs etc. Any big dog can cause more damage obviously.
@@naomi5893 Yes, but the Bully has a bred in temperament for fighting, a huge strong jaw and body built as the guy named his dog, like a ‘Tank’. They are known for their quick turn and attack. So not like other big dogs, and animals do have preferences of where they like to attack first. Some choose an arm, or leg etc or just bite where they can. But some have a natural tendency to want to go for the throat, which would be deadly from this particular dog. One can have a mountain lion from a cub a call it a pet, but I’m sure in its own circumstances it would be deadly and people would voice that too. I believe it might be possible to pinpoint the moment these two betray themselves as being utterly unconcerned about killing other people. I work in finance and can attest that several of my colleagues also own breed. The media has a narrative and we must work hard to fight against this false narrative.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with muzzling your dog when taking him out and getting him castrated ,it doesn’t do the dg any harm and then they can’t bite but huge dogs like tank can still do a lot of harm with the size and weight if he wanted to
"i know my dog" lol. Where do they find these plonkers
Owned large dogs all my life but have always been well aware that if they did turn on me, I had every chance of getting them off me without loss of life. Unfortuantely a dog this size with this amount of jaw and body power has all the power. And honestly, this couple buying a giant dog and calling it Tank just shows why they wanted it in the first place. And they haven't neutered their dog which says to me they want to breed it and make a quick buck. ALL pet dogs should be neutered.

He obviously couldn't control the dog there in the living room, as all he would have to do is say sit, and if probably trained by a professional, the dog would have sat down quietly. It's that simple. If you can't afford to pay for a professional, don't get one that's so big that a leash won't stop him. My experience with pitties has been fine, but I've been attacked twice by bulldogs. Pitties have got bulldog blood in them already to add more is just to reinforce the blood fighting against bulls that they were breed for! Owners of sheepdogs are advised to go to places where you can have them herd sheep for exercise. The husband seemed very aggressive himself, and a dog will pick up on that. A mandatory period of training with a professional should be inforced.
@@susanmirarchi7303 They can,t get real friends,so buy and kill animals to feed them
Even though they say they are a loving family, dynamics can change on a daily, hourly basis. An argument, a child being upset etc, could tip the dog over the edge to devastating consequences.
Agree. My cousin owned an Alsatian decades ago when her son was young. Great, lovely dog etc., until a friend of my second cousin started "playing" with him outside, the dog went for the friend in defence of my second cousin. Totally understandable as the dog was protecting him. However my cousin realised that her dog was no longer totally responsive to her orders & had him put down. Once the dog turns, it's game over for that dog.
Same can be said about EVERY large dog breed so where is you’re point?
...and "loving family" means different things for different people, lol
Exactly. If my chihuahua goes crazy and tries to bite anyone, well, she really isn’t a danger of any kind. She doesn’t even have teeth anymore, so worst thing can happen is you’ll get a bit of saliva smeared on your pants.
" it's not just the breed, look at the owner of the breed ". We'll just leave that there.
Haha this dog with a harness is uncontrollable.
What’s even more ridiculous is seeing a 4’11 lady walking down the street with two of them, and seeing her being dragged along with them.
Once again, not the brightest members of society are allowed access to big, aggressive dogs. They don't seem like intelligent individuals as they clearly don't understand that a XL Bully can do more hard than a smaller dog. Never seen a pug go on a killing rampage.
Actually small dogs are also found to be very aggressive too. In fact more of less every small dog I've ever seen or known has been Horrible wee vicious ankle biters that aight to be put down but you don't see others complaining about them! It's sick to condemn all breeds the same!

@Diceman890 If we can regulate people breeding with feral kid's then I agree. 👍
I was brought up with dobermans and German shepherds, some were sweet and gentle, some were over protective and reactive.
While all dogs can be aggressive and all big dogs can potentially maim and kill, none have done so to to the extent of the XL Bully in such a short space of time.
And there lies the problem.
I have no doubt that there are XL Bullies that have great temperaments and are very loving.
But I have also read many stories of these seemingly loving and sweet dogs, suddenly turning on family members for no reason.
Too many since the breeds rise to popularity over the past couples of years.

I believe if you want to own these type of dogs you suffer from, most likely subconscious, psychological issues. Dogs like this represent violence, aggression, fear, protection and intimidation.
You are a person full of fear or the man had a small Twinkie that what a lot of Women believe when they see Men will Dogs like this Lol
The fact that he has to keep his dog leashed in his own living room tells me that he doesn't have full control of the dog. If i tell my dog to sit, he'll sit as long as I tell him to.
I imagine he’s doing that bc of the camera crew.
Is it me, but is there something a bit odd about doggie people drooling over pit bull type breeds?
Same way it's said that men who feel inadequate buy big flashy cars. They want to look menacing.
"Any breed", including a yorkie, but I doubt if it would rip my throat out! They needed to keep it on a lead when interviewed. When around the children with the adults there they will behave.
its on the lead so it stays on camera and does not run off to kitchen you dullard
It should be against the law for such a powerful and dangerous dog to be unmuzzled.
A yorkie attacked one of my cockerels, and I’ve heard of them mauling little toddlers too. One tried to attack my beagle (who was on a lead) whilst it was of lead for literally no reason, luckily it didn’t actually manage to get a bite in because that would have not been good. A small dog can easily tear a chunk out of a person or a bigger less aggressive dog. And most larger dogs which supposedly “attack” these smaller breeds are often provoked by these smaller breeds before hand. I’ve seen many videos of large dogs who are completely fine until a small dog comes charging at them trying to attack them so in self defence they just pick it up and start shaking it to get it off. Then that dog gets the blame for being the “aggressive” one when the smaller dog started the confrontation
@@onepartyroule It should be against the law for those kids to be with that dog. Include that in the law!

Children's services should have removed these children as soon as this creature was brought into the home. If this is not a case of extreme child endangerment then what possibly is? This is the reason we have child protective services in the first place, as we should protect children whose parents can't or won't care about a child's wellbeing. This is a perfect example. If the parents want to endanger themselves that's one thing, but endangerment of children is criminal.

The XL Bully is a hybrid and has bloodlines from the following breeds. English Bulldog, American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Pitbull Terrier, French Bulldog, Mastiff, BoerBoel, American bulldog, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. This is what the government has said makes banning them difficult, because XL Bully is not a breed recognised by the UK Kennel Club. They do contain pit bull, so surely they could have been banned under the current dangerous dogs act as 'pit bull type'?. Having come from lower class roots I understand the motivations, but it boils down to ego and status in their community.
That's what I see too. Then it was pit bulls, and now these XLs. One of the pits has got out and killed cats, and the owners of the XLs get dragged down the street by their dogs every day while 'walking them' ...The pits are kept out in yards, like alsations are, as guard dogs.

Risk Level is the result of *Likehood* multiplied by *Severity*
This is a standard we've agreed on when it comes to fire safety and civil engineering, among other disciplines
Even if we ignored the statistics and treated the breed *as if it's not* more prone to aggression, the sheer severity of the attacks is reason enough to *get rid of them*
Let's get rid of anything that has demonstrably been prone to extremely severe attacks. Like using an atomic bomb.
Let's get rid of humans.

There's also a moral argument for the prohibition of the breed, that the animal is a perversion of the domestic dog, with no legitimate breeding purpose. These dogs were bred in cages from terrier-bulldog crosses and only freed to bring violence to bear in bull-baiting or some other wicked and cruel blood sport. The breed is the antithesis of healthy dog breeding. Our ancestors didn't undertake the strenuous effort of taming dogs from wolves for the finished product to have an aggressive temperament.
