XL Bully Ban: The Full Story

  • New regulations on XL Bully ownership came into full effect at the beginning of February 2024, after staggered legislation changes since January. The law came as a response to a spate of horrific attacks which led to deaths. The new law has made it illegal to breed, sell, advertise, gift, exchange, abandon, or let XL Bully dogs stray. Existing owners had to register for exemption certificates or risk losing the dogs, and a criminal record.
Now one month into the XL Bully ban, has it made a difference to the number of dog attacks? Or have the rules lead to more danger? This is the full story so far.

The problem is the amount of owners who walk around the streets and parks with these huge dogs off the lead, especially when young children are running around excitedly. It makes people afraid, and owners of much smaller dogs, like me, afraid. The same goes for any big dogs off the lead in public places. After all, a dog off the lead is a dog no longer under control. I have also witnessed very young girls and boys being allowed to walk these dogs for their parents. How much control could a child have if a dog this size ran after another dog?

I wonder how many lies she's telling here. You can't tell me that in ten years of working with bloodsport dogs you've never seen any aggression. Ten years working with ANY dog breed will see you experience some aggression, usually between the dogs themselves, even just Corgis and other smaller/medium breeds. I'm in pit bull groups online and every day there's owners posting about (severe) aggression issues between the dogs or from the dog towards (some) humans. She is clearly lying.

I also feel sorry for dogs who snap when they are provoked. I agree that its the owners and the way these dogs are being brought up and the lack of training. There are responsible dog owners out there that do everything they can to bring up happy healthy dogs.

    • @rosewest5168
      @rosewest5168 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@sarahlamb2333 It hasn't got anything to do with temperament. A dog can be lovely but in certain circumstances like 2 males together around females that are possibly in heat ..that can cause one of them to snap. If a dog has its tail pulled over and over by a child it might growl. I had a 14 year old jack Russell who was the softest dog, then I got a frenchie pup and the jack Russell didn't like him so he would growl and did snap once but not fight. You can't say that a dog would never snap.

Actually this is history repeating itself. The dogs that are considered "aggressive" that can be trained as either a guard dog or attack and are highly intelligent have been on the list. Dobermans, German Shepards, the Rottweilers etc etc. the difference is that now we have the Internet and television. So the pits bad rap has stuck. And someone mentioned about a someone running and a dog attacking. That could've induced an animals instinctive prey drive. There are other dogs that are way more aggressive than a pit and have a stronger bite force. Any breed that is considered aggressive needs to be trained slightly different. Btw giant poodles and dalmatians are aggressive breeds. Final note, no dog should be fully trusted. They were wild at one point and time after all

I have had dogs, just short of 55 years
Obviously, over that period of time I’ve had a number of different breeds
    The most aggressive a Pekinese
The most devoted, loyal and intelligent an Arab Mastiff
Obviously, I’m not a spring chicken, yet my current bread a Johnson bully
I agree, not a dog for the novice
They need a lot of time and attention and do not do well on their own. Loneliness stresses them
It’s important to have a set routine as with any dog particularly around food times
He is the kindest hearted, dog I’ve ever had the easiest to train, but can be stubborn
We talk about how important it is to exercise our dogs with this breed it’s more than important they need exercise and a lot of it and they need a lot of mental stimulus
    But they’re truely beautiful animals
Let’s also keep in mind the fox terrier bit more people and did more damage in the UK last year than any other breed but you’re not gonna hear that or see video clips of it either
And when the golden retriever was the popular dog,a few years back they bit more people than any other breed.
To be honest I wouldn’t have a golden retriever for love nor money
    But my bully he’s awesome
