I love the BTP ERU so much, although a lightbar would suit it much more

Technically the only "police" stuff about this truck is the police officer driving it and the police markings. Other than that, its a pure TfL vehicle. Wouldn't make sense to fully equipt it with proper lightbars etc. They only needed some blue lights to legally drive it "code3" to avoid stupid UK road legislations.

Following in from FrogFoot I’m currently serving as a BTP Officer the lightbar wouldn’t suffice simply because although it says “POLICE” on the front the sign is reversible to say “EMERGENCY” so although the lights are blue when an officer is driving it when it’s not the lights can be orange for TFL staff to drive it around.

It's not a fire truck, it's the BTP's and London Undergrounds joint Emergency Response Unit. The driver is a police officer (for the use of blue lights) and the rest are engineers trained in railway rescues - they carry no fire equipment as they respond to things such as this unfortunate “one under” and derailments etc. When it arrives on scene, the police officer just acts as a normal BTP officer

Worldwide Emergencies .... it's a rescue truck/equipment carrier operated by the British Transport Police for incidents on the rails or underground, specifically "one-unders" such as this.

Everyone has problems in life some are unbelievably profoundly serious and a way out or to talk to someone..... anyone.....a complete stranger....to share a/ these problems takes a lot of courage and guts it doesn't matter if you are male or female, you may not be able to solve a problem there and then but it's surprising how people immediately sense an act of impending life threatening suicidal thoughts and tendencies to commit suicide maybe not there and then but that opportunity to delay or summon professional help is only a 999 call away and the window of opportunity is there to be taken even if you can distract just long enough to get that person to a place of safety and not a mortuary!!!!!!.I witnessed a " ONE UNDER".....and I was working in a abattoir at the time ...let me tell you ....that body parts were still being recovered 24hrs later and the train driver never drove again even though it wasn't his fault, and then the victims family have to be told and the emergency services have the grim task of recovery of the body, sometimes its done in full view of passengers waiting for their train on the platform.....a person just leaves the platform impacts with the train and you wouldn't recognize it as a human body.

The Police van was far too close to the Police car in front, if the Police car had to stop suddenly the Police van would have gone straight into the back of the Police car, very bad driving by the driver of the Police van.

    • @mikea6036

They are trained to drive like that. Convoy driving is very dangerous as people tent to pull out on the 2nd vehicle thinking there is only 1. They drive close together so that does not happen.
