Doesn't look like they were even aware the police were responding to an incident. Regardless of the job, please move when you see an emergency services vehicle with it's lights on.
DPJB I was quite shocked to see so many cars not even bothering to move, especially the vehicle where he had to go down the opposite side of the road, as nobody would move.
@@jingle9691 I don't know how it is up there in the UK, but here it's actually an infraction to not move for an emergency vehicle that is signalling an emergency.
Jesus Christ, just slow pull a bit to the side, it's not that hard. It could be one of them needing the emergency services and them not making on time because some bellends are too stuck up to move for an emergency vehicle.
@@paulomarreiros00 you could maybe go down the way of obstruct police or obstruct an emergency worker, both are summary only and you'd just get a fine. It's downright dangerous and and does cause fatalities.
@@paulomarreiros00 Although that being you must give way to emergency vehicle, according to the highway code you must not break the law and that means slowly budging at a red light signal is not what your supposed to do, and in london you will end up with huge fine for crossing a red light automatically.

I was at Heathrow Terminal 5 just when it happened. Usually there are 2 armed officers in the departure top floor patrolling. At 14.00pm, I'm seeing 20 officers. That's when alarm bells started ringing. I'm glad that officer did his job. Well done MPS

They dont need to move if sat at a red traffic light. Its an offence to pass a red light unless your directed to by an officer on foot. Its the officers that are in the wrong here and other drivers are correct in there actions.
I spent 5 yrs training the services how to drive on blue lights.
@@davidhumphreys4516 wow if true these rule are one of the dumbest ever heard from. How are the emergency vehicles supposed to go trough heavy traffic when no one is allowed to pass a red light, this way they will get stuck at nearly every light especially in heavy traffic both directions when theres no place to make place left or right. In Germany you are supposed to pass the red light if you are at the front and don't have any other options, with caution of course but the crossing traffic must come to a stop either way for the emergency vehicles to go through so in most cases it's not really a big deal and works a lot quicker than what you are doing over there.
@@babadusseldorf8480 its the law in the UK, people have been fined and given points for moving 1 yard passed a red traffic light. In the uk the only time you can legally pass a red traffic light is if the police are on foot and way you through but only after checking its safe to do so and giving you there name and badge number. The only officers that did it correctly are the ARV at the start.

Was there with my wife on our honeymoon. We were there 30 minutes before it all happened taking pictures at almost the exact same spot. If we missed a train or took our time that morning we could’ve been killed. Scary stuff.

I see them all the time. I live up north near Leeds. There is that and the mountain rescue thing I can’t remember it’s real name. But there is no mountains near where I live.
Lucas there is the mountain rescue and cave rescue organisations but the confined space rescue units are usually used in industrial settings

As the previous person said, it is in charge of helping ambulances efficiently deal with casualties in a major incident.

I was working nearby in a pub when this happened. We had to lockdown, as all we heard was the gunshots ( later found out it was the police ). We were there till the emergency services told us, it is safe to leave the premises. It is amazing to see this huge response of blue lights heading my way from this point of view. Thanks for sharing.

More like turning around trucks, busses and lorries before the Police roadblock. It was really tight there.
Yes it is official. If there had been a bomb blast people could be trapped under rubble etc so a specialist rescue team on the scene just in case. They always assume the worst could happen.
@@robp1316 it's not “official” so to speak - the staff aren't an emergency service and wouldn't really be involved in a terrorist operation. It's just a private company that was there at the time and was helping close a road. The company there is actually more involved in sewer diving etc

When it was being broadcast on Breaking News there was quite alot of attention focused on the lorry. Was it involved in any way?
People believed it was at the beginning but as far as I know it was just a lorry trying to turn around and didn't have any significance to the incident

It really annoys me when people can clearly see the lights and sirens and don't make an effort to move, yes it's understandable if they can't move because it's too dangerous or there's enough space but seriously, if u see an emergency vehicle, pull over, it could be something very serious

I cannot agree with you enough there. The sheer lack of intelligence on display is quite ridiculous and drivers seem to freeze as they do not know what to do, with the exception of the black cab drivers who seem to move whenever required. Basically get out the f*****g way or the dash cam that must be recorded by the emergency vehicles should result in a fine and penalty points on a licence. In Europe it is often the law and there is like a parting of the waves when emergency vehicles want to get through. After all it could be an emergency vehicle on its way to YOU?

@@danbartley6041 not modified at all. All the same as the civilian versions. BMWs are all authority spec though, so they have upgraded brakes and suspension. That's all though.
That's because the British automotive industry collapsed. Look at the mid '90s and the decades before. Nearly every single vehicle was a British manufacturer or British built. Morris, Austin, Rover, MG, Dennis, DAF, Triumph, Bedford, Mini, Lotus, Cosworth, Noble, Vauxhall, etc. I know Vauxhalls are mostly rebadged Opels, but in past decades, we've had some unique models that have been later sold in continental Europe as Opels and to this day, all Vauxhalls are built in the UK, albeit French and German design. Vauxhall also have their unique VXR tuning division which is solely British. Although the building of Fords stopped in the UK a few years ago, nearly all European Fords, including some North American models are still designed in the UK, with parts such as engines and gearboxes still being manufactured here, then shipped out for assembly. Similar for Mini, owned by BMW, but still designed and built in the UK. Triumph are still around but they only make bikes nowadays. Cosworth and Lotus still do specialised models of European cars to this day, too.

l seriously hope that the powers that be, have considered, that when through your planned response to an incident like this you never put so many of theses fantastic people in such a small area that the terrorists kill them.

What is the significance of the red painted Metropolitan Police vehicles please? In use since the Vauxhall Vectra served venerably with the Met in 1991-2 time Us ex-Essex Police types thought they were High Speed Pursuits but I see now they have another function.
