The casserole was composed of these ingredients. It seemed that the zapiekanka would not survive the deluge of street food after the fall of communism. This dish has survived and is doing well all over Poland. Zapiekanka is the same as casserole 🙂

Polish donuts are yeast donuts whereas other countries use baking soda or baking powder. It makes a huge difference taste wise.

It's my understanding that pierogi is plural and pierog is singular. No one ever eats just one pierog, so you order pierogi.
