- Cuban sees car dealership for the first time. Another dream completed for Yoel who at 36 years old sees brand new cars at an American dealership for the first time. (((PLEASE TURN ON CC FOR SUBTITLES)))
Cuba is the land of classic cars.... old classic cars. New cars are a rarity (only reserved for mostly government rental cars to tourism) so Yoel has never been in one. After 1959 when Fidel castro took over, only Soviet cars were imported in the island.
So of course, Yoel's dream is going inside a Ford Mustang...the true American muscle car.

I'm Cuban too and came to the US at the age of 12. I remember walking for the first time into a Walmart and seeing the bicycle isle. My jaw dropped and I felt an undescribable feeling of elation and wonder. I don't think Americans will ever understand the amount of abundance they possess. It is just so normal to them that it becomes mundane. Over the years I've also come to see this abundance as so normal I don't even notice it, but once in a while I remember how that little kid felt in the Walmart, or at McDonald's, or the first time at Disney World. It really makes me appreciate how fortunate we are to live in this country.
I wish you were teaching these entitled socialist loving brainwashed brats in college instead of what passes as America hating, socialist college professors today.
@@ronronniemeyers To be fair, there is a lot to dislike about the United States as it is right now. We only ended up with abundance by looking around at what we had and saying, "you know, I think we can do better," so why stop now? In one hundred years I want my kids to think I am as backwards as I sometimes think my own grandparents can be.
You truly know that you've won as a parent or grandparent when your kids are able to spend the energy to complain about BS instead of having to worry about the practicality of life.

If any advertising execs are watching this, Yoel just made a great commercial for Ford. He could write the script, "There are many Ford cars in my homeland that are still running after 60 years in service. That is why it will be my dream to one day own one for myself." Hire the guy, give him his dream car, the Mustang, film the presentation, and you're going to have people listen to him instead of hitting the TV remote mute button.
Yoel would be a FANTASTIC commercial for any place he has gone, so far! Imagine the sympathy it would generate for the people of Cuba to showcase the awe and wonder that we, as Americans, take for granted. I can only imagine Cuba being open, free, and brought into the modern age. Viva Cuba Libre!
What we need is Cubans that know automotive mechanics to keep 25-40+ year vehicles running. Bring them to 🇺🇸 and let them open their garage to fix cars. Mechanics nowadays know little about the art of hearing, seeing, an automatic defect. They depend too much on the computer systems to tell them what to fix.

Is that the fault of the mechanics? Or the changing world in which they live? Currents cars aren't built like the simple cars that Cubans keep running for 25-40 years. It's a completely different world now. As much as bringing a Cuban to the US to open a garage sounds great, they would be at a severe disadvantage dealing with modern cars. Being a specialist for older cars would be the way to go, but in the end, I think they'd need to get some schooling/training on how to deal with modern electronics - that's the world we live in.

Wish this was on national TV, i feel like so many Americans need to watch things like these because we are extremely ungrateful, I'm Colombian and i always forget how lucky and blessed we are to live in this country. Luckily i found this channel that reminds me how blessed we are. My prayers to Cuba.

I’m an automotive technician at a Ford dealership. I see these cars everyday, and it never crosses my mind that there are people out there that would love to see them. I love this video so much. Wish I could buy him a mustang!

I live in The Netherlands, and Mustangs are more rare than Ferraris. Mustangs were simply not sold at our Ford dealerships until 2015 ( 6th gen Mustang ). Everytime I see or hear one it turns my head, just because they're so rare.
( Also, they're REALLY expensive here, because of taxes. A stock Mustang GT costs around $ 116,000 after tax )

To this human being, Joel, was deprived of the privilege of owning a car by the ECONOMIC BLOCKADE. Now, read: The Economic Blockade that United States imposed on Cuba, and which has been uninterrupted for more than 60 years, is product of the revenge of Dulles brothers against Fidel Castro, as a result of Castro expropriating the United Fruit Company (UFCO), more than 100,000 hectares of cultivation (Sugar Cane). Allen Dulles (CIA Director), and his brother John Foster Dulles (US Secretery of State), were a shareholder in UFCO, and were on the payroll for more than 20 years. Both bros. demanded payment from Cuban gov’t for the land expropriated at ridiculously high amount, when United Fruit Co. had obtained these large estates for $7 dollars per hectare and demanded compensation for $6,800 dollars per hectare. Castro was also asked to pay the cost of hotels, houses and casinos owned by the New York mafia and other figures of high politics in the US. As Cuba does not pay, the Economic Blockade continues. “If we can't assassinate Castro, let's assassinate his economy”. Now, 12 Presidents have passed in the White House, and the Blockade continues. Castro, Dulles Bros., Kennedy, LBJ and all that generation have already died; they are no longer here. And the Economic Blockade continues. Why? Why, if Castro NEVER affected the interests of the US people? Castro affected the interests of the New York Mafia, the UFCO and the interests of the Dulles Brothers. The Castro Gov't affected the interests some companies (6 companies), that conspired to assassinate him, but not affected the US People. (It would be an example to say that Mexico imposed an Economic Block on the US, cuz the US Gov’t confiscated properties from “El Chapo”, or from the Mexican Drug Trafficking Cartels). Castro never seized property from US citizens. Castro only seized the property of the New York Mafia. So, why? If perhaps the reason for the Blockade was cuz Castro was an ally of USSR, well, USSR has not existed for 33 years either. Then why? What is the reason for continuing with this Economic Blockade against Cuba? The answer to these questions, in any case, would be: "Cuz a dark power within the US wants to impose itself in Cuba, violating its sovereignty, in the same way that it has done and continues to do so throughout the world with the weakest nations". No common citizen of the US has anything against the Cuban people, but a certain sector of the government's high politics does. Now, If you want to know about the atrocities and massacres of the UFCO and the CIA in Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Cuba, all the Caribbean and Central America, consult Wikipedia: “Wars of the Banana Republics”. (From Stephen Kinzer book: “The Brothers”). Write the latter that appears in parentheses, and verify this information right here on TH-cam. Or, do the same and search for it on Google. (And In this way, you will understand why Cubans cannot have a car).

So I own a business, my home and now I donate to at risk teens to get a college degree. Pay it forward.

Kind of depresses me knowing that us Americans have such pleasures, while people in Cuba, Afghanistan, Venezuela, etc., are suffering. I pray to God for these people.

What he does not say, for obvious reasons given his audience, is that the reason Cuba does not have this is because of the continued embargo on Cuba. I get it, Castro is an asshole, communism is a failed system that we all should abhor, but Fidel is dead. Short of hosting Soviet missiles, Cuba was never a true threat to the USA, and I think we are all aware of that.
There is no good reason for the continued embargo in 2021. Their lives would not become great, as they are still in a broken system, but lifting the embargo would allow the very basics. Trade with the US would allow them to have eggs for his daughters cake. It would allow them to have more in the stores, and American agricultural products. It would make life more bearable for a people who truly did not do anything wrong. We have to stop punishing them.

After reading through the comments, there really isn't more that I can add. Working hard to achieve your dreams, wishing this for all Cubans, what else could be a first for Yoel? I echo all that! But on a side note, I really appreciate the subtitles. Since my father died (he was Chilean), I no longer have someone with whom to practice Spanish. I didn't really try until I was an adult (I was a know-it-all kid who thought I didn't need to learn it), but it became something only he and I would do, so something really special to us. Now, I listen to you and Yoel and try to pick up new words and sentence structure, with my father in mind.

These videos are so touching, I sincerely wish many more people see them. Perhaps someday Yoel can be a motivational speaker and share his experience discovering the US. Growing up as an American, the dealership was both a place of fantastic potential but also a negative place, where despite all you did have, you felt inadequate or swindled. A boring place you must wait and wait or be on your guard with salesmen. Its amazing that he didn't even know the word.

I work at a car dealership. And this thought has never come into my mind before. Like I know that Cubans have all these classic cars because there is not an option for other things really, but that this experience is out there for people. This had not come into my brain. Gives the job a bit more meaning to be honest.
I want to see his reaction when he sees the auction prices of classic cars that are everywhere in Cuba. Hundreds of thousands, millions. that would be another emotional shock to him. A reversal. Something that is so common over there is now rare, sought after, and so incredibly valuable over here.
'Prepare the gang and the beer! We're going to the beach!' ... YESSSSS! That's EXACTLY how I felt getting in a new F-150! Man, I LOVE his enthusiasm. I really does remind me how lucky we are, and how much we have to be thankful for!

My friend was lucky enough to visit Havana about 10 years ago. From everything that I've heard about it, it's like a time machine. It's a beautiful place of wonder and very colorful.
I imagine many American's have a similar reaction to this man when they see Havana for the 1st time.
It is so good for us all to share in each other's cultures with one another. I hope we can all find peaceful ways to co-exist and share more moments of appreciation between our distinctive cultures together.
It's always incredible to me to see his contrast of happiness and sadness at the same time. How he gets delighted like a kid, then sheds tears for the people back home who can't even dream about owning a car. But I'm glad he was able to get on his phone and share the moment with his family.
Been sitting here for a couple of hours watching Yoel and Mara's videos. My heart aches for this humble man and his family in Cuba. I will never take for granted ANYTHING I have access to. If we are not careful, we too, will lose all of this at the hands of a hostile government. Ford needs to see this to understand what that pony means to Joel. Potential Happiness. Those words made me cry. His first thoughts of the trucks was how amazing they would be for farmers and how great it would be to invite his friends to go to the beach with him in the truck. He has an amazing spirit and is an inspiration to all of us for how lucky we truly are. I hope all his dreams come true, and I pray that Cuba can make progress to change for its people. I appreciate being reminded to take the time to smell the roses, and to be thankful of all the small things that we take for granted.

When my uncle visited us from Lithuania in 1980, he couldn't believe what he saw. Among other things, new car dealerships. My father had to explain to him that all those cars were for sale. You didn't realize what you had until you saw your own country through the eyes of someone from behind the Iron Curtain.
Relatives from Poland circa 1980 - they thought "the mall" was a auto factory because of all the cars in the parking lot. We had to take them back to the mall after it closed so they could see the empty parking lot. Seeing a grocery store brought them to tears.

Every time u upload I end up getting teary eyed over yoel's joy and happiness from experiencing such little things that seem so simple, things that are taken for granted and not given a 2nd thought, here in the states. It makes me so sad for the people of Cuba but also so happy for yoel that he is finally able to be here. I keep saying it but I wish u both would go to talks to schools to help kids understand things. Yoel, I grew up in hunger and poverty right here in the U.S. And right now, just outside, is my brand new car......and I paid cash for it.....no financing. I never even had the dream that this could happen. I have owned a Mustang. This one is a Jeep. If I can do this, you can do this. It was a big challenge in my life to even have food. Now I have a brand new car that is completely paid for. Amazing.

this is the story of many migrants, not just Cuban,
Mari- You should go back to the dealership or call them and ask to speak to the Customer Service or the Sales Manager. Explain your previous visit to the dealership and some details about Yoel's life & journey to the U.S. Maybe explain some of the car culture of Cuba. Offer to provide your TH-cam channel info for them to take a look at his journey and his visit to their dealership. Definitely explain to them Yoels love of Ford vehicles. Ask if someone would be willing to take Yoel on a test drive while you film his reaction. Afterall, test drives with & without an employee happen all the time. If you have a drivers license you could actually do the test drive. I can't imagine Yoels reaction to riding shotgun in that red truck. You might just have to get one of those big Sparkletts water jugs so he can start saving all his change. A lot of American dreams started with filling those Sparklett bottles! I would also suggest to the employee that it might be good advertisment for the dealership once your video is posted. Either way, I would get someone to take that man of yours on a test drive, riding shotgun & you filming it. Get on the freeway, nothing better than being in a truck on the freeway! Being able to see over the tops of all the cars for miles down the road. Something he probably has never experienced. I hope you can make this happen for him. Good luck.
