Motorcycle Regulator Rectifier Diagnostic and Installation guide On 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan

  • I install a new Regulator Rectifier on my Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle as my battery is not holding a charge. I discuss exactly what Regulator Rectifier is on a motorcycle and show an easy step by step installation. it's not a big job but when the rectifier burns out on your bike you will need to replace it as soon as possible. This video is relevant to any motorbike owner regardless of brand as Rectifiers are pretty standard regardless of the motorcycle you ride. I also discuss my upcoming motorcycle trip around Europe in July.

We thought ye'd bought a Honda!.
    Organising a stoning we were.
I was having trouble with my battery discharging, cured it with an isolation switch fitted on the battery earth terminal.
There was problems with the reg/rec,the diodes were letting the charge flow back into the alternator, eventually this will damage the stator.
I can leave the bike for weeks with no issues.
    Glad to have ye back.

Welcome back, you only look a year older. Got to Portugal and back last June, then to France in September. Broke down second day. A comedy of errors you wouldn't believe. After a no fix at RE Caen, it was shipped back to RE Ecosse in Aberdeen after two months. Badly damaged in transit. Wait for parts. Fixed but not fixed twice, then, finally the injector shown faulty .More wait for parts. Nine months without bike. Goes better now than it ever did, been an intermittent fault from new. It's getting difficult to mount with my old body so trading it in for a Honda SH350i scooter. Setting off for Portugal after the 600 mile first service. Hope to see you on the road, if you speak to scooterists. Go well.

At 4:38 there is a white mark on the large earth lead. From experience working on electric Mechanical handling equipment ,when a high current cable gets lose you can get an arch or a build up of corrosion (a white flaring). If this was your case it could cause no start and erratic charge symptoms. Obviously after fitting your new unit every thing would be ok.

Noticed the welding on your frame is a lot nicer than 2 Himalayan bikes I looked at my local FL, USA dealer. The welding looked very crude, uneven and spotty even. 3 hoses were also out of their clamps on 1 of the bikes, not a big deal but still….

There's a bagtecs option comes with its own rack I think..

my question would be do you have any of these accessory coming from a relay that cuts off when bike isnt running ? your standing draw will keep pulling down the batterys voltage over time and you will keep over working your charging system and have to keep replacing parts .. hope you have considered this..
