Hey mate. Happy DIYing 😊. And naah, trust me any thing you might have heard or seen about evap and any performance related issues and solutions associated with removing it are a complete myth. Mine has done 35000 with evap and still going strong. So maybe there is some other unrealized issue. How much has your bike done? Which spark plug are you using? Has the throttle body been cleaned? There can be a lot of underlying issues. Cheers
@@leuheanrede mine is 28000kms. I've fed up visiting service center regarding the missing probelms and they could not even find the reason. They had changed the sparkplug last time, but the issues still persist.
@@flyingfalcon4397 its a risk of 800ish risk, but try switching to iridium spark plug. Gap adjustment is 8 to 9mm and don't let service center guys play with gap adjustment. Too less a gap and there would be starting trouble, more the gap and the would be missing/misfiring. Best to buy a feeler gauge, available on Amazon. Next would be to check the value adjustment, feeler gauge would be required for that too. I have posted multiple videos on both spark plug and valve adjustment. Let me know if you have trouble finding the vids. Cheers🙃
And sir.....my himalayan do face an issue....when the bike gets into traffic for a little while....there is a constant knocking sound from the engine....but when the bike is stopped and given time to cool up....every thing goes back to normal....iam really worried about this sir....what can i do about this issue...

Thanks mate and as for issue you have mentioned this is the first time I am hearing such a problem. My guess would be that the oring that sits in the middle of the tank for fuel gauge has either gone bad or not properly aligned, second guess is that the tank has rusted and there is a leak somewhere, please do check into it asap as it can be very dangerous, cheers :)

Have you came across the intermittent fault where, when riding the engine light comes on, the bike looses power and then is OK again. It all happens in around 3 seconds from start to finish. It will happen when hot or cold, stationary or moving, full or near empty fuel tank, sometimes once a day, sometimes several times in one trip. I heard the fuel pump prime itself after when it cut out stationary. So it's like the power to the fuel pump stopped momentarily perhaps??? Its not the ignition barrel or the sidestand switch. Any ideas?
Hello again. ya, i have issues in the past with the scenario you just explained. key is to identify the malfunction lighting pattern. In most cases i found that the wiring connector was improperly connected or loose so to speak. so I will start with checking the connections. But more importantly, the the error light light pattern matters. Please try and see and count the pattern as in the short and long gaps of malfunction light when the issue occurs again. But no less, disconnect, clean, re-grease the connectors on throttle body, ECU and check for any wiring damage. cheers :)

GM bro, my Himalayan bs4 starts normally but shuts off on its own after say 5 to 10 seconds. Last week I replaced the ignition coil ( old IG coil primary winding coil was showing 3.3 ohms only instead of 4 - 8 ohms range.) One week the bike running was ok today again the problem repeats.. Could you please suggest any diagnostic measures ?

Bro , my Himalayan bs4 clutch lever play needs to be adjusted very often, say after every 300 kms, is it because clutch discs needs replacement ?. When I remove and refit clutch side cover can I use gasket paste instead of the gasket which is very expensive (₹1400). Pls suggest.
Hi mate. That looks like the clutch wire is about to break. clutch plates might be ok so first go for clutch wire, inspect carefully and replace.( Also given that the 2 adjuster nuts are tightened properly and not coming loose )In any case if you later have to ever replace clutch plates, always go for gasket, cheers

Hey mate, the petcock on the carb does come equipped with a screen, may i suggest every now and then jsut remove and clean the petcock assembly including screen by removing it from tank, and i used to use a glass bottle type external filter on old enfield, it had a magnet inside and finer residue that escaped the screen on petcock would be seen accumulated on that magnet, but over all fueling wasnt as good so finally removed it, but trust me cleaning the screen yielded good results. Cheers :)
@@leuheanrede yes I clean the petcock filter frequently. ( And find gunk everytime ) Haven't tried the magnetic glass bowl filter because of the reasons u mentioned . Most people say it causes hiccups and irregular fuel delivery . Was thinking about the paper element type filter some dirtbikes use. Again. Not sure if it'll work because it has no fuel pump and the carb might not create enough suction to pump fuel through the paper element filter.. I think I'll give it a try next month or so .

Hey mate, beautiful place that :D As for cleaning interval, there is no hard and fast rule but it just depends on quality of fuel that gets poured into it and if you are having some issues like stalling at low revs given that the rest of the things like TPS, Idle, valve clearance and spark plug are set properly. but still a pre-emptive check up and clean can be done around 20 to 30000 kms to get the idea and see if there is some residue inside the tank thus giving an idea of when the next check and clean should be done, Cheers :)
I have tried this. Cleaned the filter and everything was put back in place and then into the tank. Now the fuel pump keeps spilling fuel through the small hole outside when i disconnect the hose connecting the fuel pump underneath the tank to the throttle body. This happens when the bike is off and I disconnect the hose going to the TB from fuel pump. Can you help me with this by suggesting something?
Hey mate, got it, you that happens when the small rubber washer is either not fit in properly or needs replacement. Good thing is that in either case if hose is connected, we dont have to worry about the leakage but in the long run please do buy that washer and change. Cheers :0

True, just wanted to check. That's why opened Now I will have peace of mind for another 20000 kms. Peace of mind thaa matlab 🙂 See, I don't sell my bikes. And I have a lot of them. Couple of them have done over 100000 kms and still run like new. All because of such preventive and timely maintenance. Which in long run pays good dividents😉 Cheers

Sorted! It is a faulty wire from the handle bar throttle into the loom. I think the wire belongs to the engine kill switch.

As for cleaning interval, there is no hard and fast rule but it just depends on quality of fuel that gets poured into it and if you are having some issues like stalling at low revs given that the rest of the things like TPS, Idle, valve clearance and spark plug are set properly. but still a pre-emptive check up and clean can be done around 20 to 30000 kms to get the idea and see if there is some residue inside the tank thus giving an idea of when the next check and clean should be done, Cheers :)
Owner's manual recommends cleaning at 05. Km and then replacing at every 15 Km.
I have tried this. Cleaned the filter and everything was put back in place and then into the tank. Now the fuel pump keeps spilling fuel through the small hole outside when i disconnect the hose connecting the fuel pump underneath the tank to the throttle body. This happens when the bike is off and I disconnect the hose going to the TB from fuel pump. Can you help me with this by suggesting something?
Hey mate, got it, you that happens when the small rubber washer is either not fit in properly or needs replacement. Good thing is that in either case if hose is connected, we dont have to worry about the leakage but in the long run please do buy that washer and change. Cheers :0
@@leuheanrede Thanks for the response. My bike's past 38k kms and yes the filter was kinda buried when I looked at it. Thanks for the video though or else I would not have even thought of inspecting and cleaning them. I'll probably be changing the filter for a new one at 50k kms which means less than 12k kms from now. Do you think it'll be okay to deal with the rubber washer by then or is it too long to have this problem?

See, I don't sell my bikes. And I have a lot of them.
Couple of them have done over 100000 kms and still run like new. All because of such preventive and timely maintenance.
Which in long run pays good dividents😉
