    I did this swap about 6 years ago. Never regretted it. I didnt mod the tranny other than a full rebuild, new TC and the deep pan. The Terraflex adapter is no longer produced BTW. Mine has a slow leak back there so I am wondering if the original seal fits in the terraflex adapter. Nobody seems to know, lol. Great work BTW!

    This video absolutely saved me! I’m swapping a 4.0 from an 04 TJ to a 99 WJ. I came across the blind hole / pilot bearing and was really concerned which whether or not the blind hole came out. Thank you so much

      I agree! My Novak shifter makes the t-case shift like butter. And so forgiving when adjusted correctly. Good luck 👍
      I’m really interested in seeing this conversation through to it’s completion. My TJ came with the factory automatic tranny. 150,000 miles. It is kind of quirky though. It has to warm up good for it to work well. Occasionally after setting for a few days or weeks, it slips out of reverse. After a good warmup, it starts minding its manners. Any advice would be appreciated. 🤠. Cheers from high elevation Wyoming.

      The tranny slips out of reverse when first startup and engine / drivetrain cold. Sorry I wasn’t clear about that.

    I did the same conversion on my yj. I did one thing differently. I made a tube Trans mount. It went from One side to the other on the frame. With eurathane inserts. It makes it so I can take the skid off with out the drive train from having to be braced. Nice job Kelly. It makes me feel like I went in the correct direction.

Hopefully you can get it sorted. Like you I went through my transmission and rebiult it along with a transgo shift kit air checked no issues at all but I found out my separator plate was pretty hammered. I will probably be going with a reverse manual valve body after I verify pressures which I haven't done yet. Best of luck.

    I watched your video of the 32rh transmission swap . I am wondering if you got the shifting problem figured out? Could it very well just be that you have the throttle valve wired completely open.... I have never seen any automatic transmissions. Regardless of make, that like to shift gears with the valve completely open. Because All of the fluid pressure is directed to low gear only. Hope this information helps you. Let me know. Krip.

I wired my electric fan relay control voltage into the O2 sensor power so the fan runs when the engine is running, and the engine thermostat controls the engine temp but the trans and AC get constant airflow.... but now i sound like a JK LOL...

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but there are other factors with a newer Tj, and what your trying to do with it. The 3 speed is terrible on the street, no 4th gear or tcc lockup. So if you do street driving I would build up an AW4 from a Cherokee, they are cheap and easy to find. If you don’t go with a full manual valve body you would need a ecu from an auto Tj of the same vintage.
