Aahh the memories. A few years ago, we were coming out of Arkaroola & broke the axle on our camper. The guys from the mechanics at Copley came out the 120 odd km with a Landcruiser & tandem trailer to pick up the camper. We were stuck in Copley for 5 days waiting for a new axle from Adelaide & the repairs. The mechanics were great & did all they could for us. Accommodaton at the downtown Copley Caravan Park. Very thankful for RACV Total Care - paid for itself 10 times over !!! An interesting aside, the bakery didn't sell bread. Go figure. Hope the rest of your trip is event free. Enjoy. Dave
Yeh they are fantastic and the caravan park people were awesome as well. Seems to be a pretty regular occurrence for them. Have had several mates tell me the same story as well. Nrma covered all ours. Would hate to think what that tow would have cost.
The bit of wire hold the front right not good enough for ya? Really, that is what creates eternal memories, right now focused on getting things fixed, but in 10 years time.... Great episode ladies and gentlemen!
First time I’ve seen your channel, good video. I did think I was looking at Forrest. 😂. I think I’d prefer the 80 series but probably heavier on fuel. Good luck with your next adventure.
Copley Service Centre 😂 Last time we were stuck there it took 3 days to even get somebody to look at our trailer. The bloke running it was a little volatile and apparently had a thing for throwing hammers when he got annoyed! 😬
Glad you got it all sorted, but if that happened to my Jeep Grand Cherokee, I could just image all of the comments. This can happen to any vehicle, so enjoy the rest of your trip.
Good piece. The YT algorithm popped you up onto my feed - well done. Date Palms are not pollinated just by bees. Do a Google search on Australia's best pollinators, it may surprise you. A Triple J Cruise from Kununurra will enlighten you. You may have had a bolt loosen somewhere, but upper control arms have a grease nipple and a rubber circle bit. They are your extra child. Like the Army, first parade service and a last parade service. In tough conditions we do a halt parade service, at any time of the day. Buy a DeWalt Grease Gun. Just sayin'
Definition remote - (of a place) situated far from the main centres of population, fairly referenced by the fact it took 36hours to get a recovery which the closest came from 3 hours away.
This is why I do not trust other mechanics so cool professionals they should be ashamed of themselves. You need to check every night and volt when you get things done because I do not trust them seen it happen to many times, so call professionals🤬👎
The Birdsville Track is like a highway now. Its properly graded and takes a lot of ordinary traffic. It no problem for an ordinary car so long as you carry spares and water. 4WD not needed. There is plenty of fuel and supplies half way. It's no longer an adventure and is now the main route from South Australia to Queensland for freight.
It’s definitely not the Birdsville track of old. Whilst doable in a non 4wd it would be incredibly unpleasant with the corrugations and the long sections of gibber would shred normal car tyres. It’s also still pretty remote, fairly referenced by the fact it took 36hours to get a recovery which the closest came from 3 hours away.
So did you drive the 500kms as recommended then went back for a cheak and tighten up... Seems odd that was lose enough to undo completely and come out. Hope they take the blame you coff up the cost.
When the install was done I was never advised to return for a check over. However that said, they said they never touched this bolt, so even if I had been told to return it wouldn’t have been touched again. I’ve spoken to numerous people who advised that even though they didn’t change this part they 100% should still have torqued it, but unfortunately they have washed their hand of it, all up though my out of pocket costs for this we’re was the $250 I paid the Mechanic in Copley. NRMA covered the tow and accomodation which was the bulk of expense.
@Fast Australian Adventures what brand gvm is it? Green springs so I assume ironman. They would have removed it. No why it randomly un did itself post how many kms since new?
@@ausguy4385 yeh Ironman roughly 3,000km since install (less than 3 weeks since install). Apparently you don’t need to remove the control arm to do the shock as it rotates enough out of the way,
Remote - definition from the Oxford dictionary - “situated far from the main centres of population” Maree at the southern end of the track is 655km from the nearest major city. Track - it’s literally called the Birdsville track. So 1 it’s remote & 2 it’s a track.

Thanks mate, yeh absolutely, all part of a great experience.
Camel toe pie made me laugh. Cheers

Make the Copley pie is absolutely fantastic glad you got to get one
They were sensational!
I just hope you guys thanked the boys that helped you out with the standard outback currency.
We sorted ‘em out. Awesome blokes.
Good stuff, thanks
"Just had a GVM upgrade before the trip and not sure if that's had something to do with it" ? Yes, yes it has.
100% your ment to drive then go back for adjustment and tighten up
Same happened to my mates 200 but he seen it before it fell out ...just nut missing

We were pretty lucky, while it took a while for the fix, the mechanic there couldn’t have been nicer.

(I'm sure you know this by now?) That's an aftermarket upper control arm. Somebody forgot to tighten the pivot bolt nut.

Thanks! I was just going off the info on the sheet the towie gave us. Interesting to know. Cheers for watching!
The Toyota adverts got it all wrong. Should have got a Patrol 😂
Don't start that childish shit.

Just saying that Toyotas are not ibreakable. In fact the y61 has a far stronger drive train than a Land Cruiser.
I mean “ unbreakable “
The Birdsville track is anything but remote, it supports a lot of traffic.

Wonder what Toyota would have to say about this. Hi Luxes are supposed to be "unbreakable".
Toyota gets a pass on this one, best estimates here’s is it wasn’t torqued correctly
Aftermarket suspension is Toyota fault how?

Be having a chat to who fitted the upgrade. Not good enough
Ended up they said they never touched that bolt, to me that’s not enough, for a GVM upgrade should have been checked, but they disagree.
@@fastaustralianadventures of course they do. They used to be called mechanics now they call them technicians!. I call them part swappers at best.
Very wise to have carried a satellite phone. Raises the question..."what is the best tow vehicle? "
@@bambu9431 to be fair wasn’t a vehicle failure, more an installation failure
