One simple reason smartphones are not interesting these days, midrange phone from 2 years ago has same camera quality and similar performance as todays mid range phones. Oneplus nord 1 is the best example.
The people who can buy a smartphone have already bought it, so the market penetration is almost complete... Earlier each year the tech was improving quit fast so people used to upgrade, now there isn't much to upgrading frequently. One of the reasons why apple diversified towards services and health tech. I think bbk can do well if they focus on things outside of providing hardware for cheap. Ofcourse all of this are just my assumptions which might be wrong but it seems like this is the case.
Jio was the only reason for smartphone market growth 2016 to 2019. Almost everyone in the family wanted to have a personal smartphone because of cheap data and call rate.

One more reason is the shifting of more and more users to the premium segment of phones. No one wants to pay 40k+ for a phone by Mi or Oppo. That segment is dominated by the two giants, Apple and Samsung coz of the premium tag they have been carrying for a long time!

Maine apni life mai itne phones use kiye hai high end to low end all of them have some or the other problems but companies are taking no steps to solve those issues. Now the consumer has also become more educated and hence hardware gimmicks are not working anymore. Software has become a very important factor before someone buys a phone these days. This is the reason more and more long time Android users are shifting to iphones. I hope companies realise this as soon as possible and start working on their software.
Also people who had sub 20k phones will naturally upgrade to a 30k+ phone thus they don't want to go with a brand which is labelled as cheap, at such price you'd expect a premium brand as Samsung/OnePlus. Moreover almost all the Chinese brands have riddled their ui with ads, why would anyone want that when paying a premium. This leads to lack of good ui experience and cohesion in the same. After Android 12's material you implementation and Inclusion of Google's Messages and Phone app, the ui of these brands seems unfinished and less polished. I guess One UI and Stock Android are the only one's which actually provide a good ui experience.
