  • The Copiale Cipher. A small, mysterious book from the 18th century with a lot of secrets. In this video, we'll take a look into how the code was solved by a team of academics and how it revealed a mysterious group known as the Oculists.
It has been great seeing some more eyes on this channel (not longer just me). I am always open for advice or suggestions in the comments, I am sure there's much I can learn from you all.

a lot of old cryptic ciphers usually turn out to be kinda boring, but one that describes the initiation into a secret society of 18th century German eye doctors is pretty cool.

I smell an unquestioned and all-too-convenient cover story, in light of, 1) the known history of how secret societies would morph into new, different ones (but continuing the same, underlying rites, occult knowledge, and traditions) when necessary for their survival, and 2) how in the 18th and early 19th centuries, secret societies were the exclusive domain of highly educated and affluent professionals (doctors of many kinds could be placed in this category) and society's elite, leisure class anyway.

As a member of a collegiate secret society, this text reads very much like the "secret" text of our organization although ours is written in plain English and copies have leaked all over the internet. So, when I saw the first page with the symbols yet to be clarified, these word associations naturally popped to my mind: star - secrets; circle with a dot -order or group; lip (eye) - member; triangle with lower dot - meeting or assembly; triangle with upper circle - officer. Feel free to share these proposed associations with anyone involved with further evaluation of the text. It's certainly a fascinating story on the decryption of the original text. Thanks! I think the difference between the Copiale Cipher and the Zodiac Ciphers (one of which was solved recently, but the codebreaker admitted it was mostly luck) is that CC was MEANT to be deciphered. It was meant to be passed on from generation to generation, potentially hundreds of people read the text before the Oculists became mostly history. Each symbol or combinations of symbols had a direct equivalent in the German language.
The Zodiac Ciphers, on the other hand, were meant to cement an egomaniacal killer's legacy as a man of mystery. They were written for one man and one man only, only he would know what they said. Zodiac intentionally misspelled words to make it harder to decipher and made mistakes in the cipher too, but it's unclear if those were intentional obstacles or if he just wasn't as smart as he thought he was.
The same could be true for the Voynich Manuscript. While it might be an instructional handbook, in all likelihood we'll never know what it says because we never were supposed to.

(9:43) One of the Zodiac's most cryptic coded letters (called the "340 cipher") was deciphered just a year ago (51 years after it was sent!) by an international team of three:
    1. A Belgian computer programmer
    2. An American computer programmer
    3. An Australian mathematician
Some say that similar methods can be used to crack two more of Zodiac's coded letters.
According to what I have read about the deciphering process the group used, it sounds very similar to the deciphering process used by Professor Knight. He went through the document looking for repeating patterns, vowels, etc.

I don't know if this even relates to it, but I do have some thoughts. Take it as you will. Whenever I read the phrases ''the light hand'' and ''oculists'' my mind instantly went to magick and the occult. The light hand could be a reference to white magick, also known as the right hand path in some circles. I've also noticed that in occult circles, eye related imagery is heavily present. Whether it be the evil eye, or just symbolism for omnipotence and ''seeing all'', it does tend to show up. I'm going to read the English copy, and return to edit this if I have any new theories :)
edit: I have read the english translation, and only feel that this furthers my theory. Multiple references are made to the importance of the right hand and the right eye. In this case, the hands could represent a vessel- the human body, while the eye represents occult wisdom. There are also instructions on how to properly construct a meeting place, with specific details about what should face east or west in the room. Cardinal directions are heavily important in magick. Furthermore, reading this, it struck me how similar a lot of the writing and instructions were to that of The Golden Dawn. But it gets better- The ''big X'' symbol seems to represent a previous group, which was founded in England. The founder of the group that The Copiale originates from was said to be part of it, but broke off. The book is theorized to have been written in the 1730's-1740's, and The Freemason's were founded in England in 1717.
I don't know how I would piece any of this together, or what it would mean. Either way, this is genuinely intriguing.

Just discovered your channel (3/9/21) and love it! This was a beautifully made and informative video. I loved the ones about the angels in the OT too, as I'm aware that our modern day ideas of angels have been far too 'sanitised' over the centuries. It's amazing how much of the OT is reminiscent of what scholars know about Babylonian and other religions in the area.
So keep doing what you do, it *is* worthwhile!

ive been practicing cryptography and codecraft since i was 7, i specifically avoid learning about historical conventions and practices relating to it, to not fall into patterns, this demonstrates why nicely as the cypher was so easily broken because its similarity to so many before it.
it probably came from the neccesity if multiple people having to be able to read it.
if you truly want something hidden, the best way is the concept of the eternity code.
you must first create a language able to convey any concept you can think of that only you understand with as few similarities to your native language as you can manage, a good way to do this is have single words hold the meaning of whole sentances or concepts. then create a cypher and write in that language encoded. so theoretically even if the cypher is broken it will still appear as nonsence to anyone unfammiliar to the language, leading them to believe they made a mistake or that its hidden under a second cypher, both conclusions would be wrong of course leaving them stuck, assuring your secrets follow you to your grave.

The initiation on the first page sounds very close to initiation of becoming a Knight of Columbus in the catholic church. It's supposed to be kept secret, but it's very reminiscent of how their initiation ritual starts.
(Edit) The circular symbol might be representing Knight. The circle with the dot is God. The star is the ritual. The triangular symbol is the Grand(?) Knight.
It seemingly says the candidate who wishes to become a knight is led to the grand knight and asked a series of questions: if he wants to become a knight, if he submits to the will (rules) of God, and must keep the initiation ritual a secret. The part about volunteering himself could stem from their charity work.

Lololol. No. To all of it. That RCC do not care about the God of the bible but instead the god of the vatican.
The KoC and Jesuits are not doers of Gods will, and furthermore, would not occur in germany.
Furthermore, the pentagram, eye, pyramid with the light on top are all symbols from a secret society that currently rules the world. While there are connections and ties to the Jesuits and RCC with this contemporary international shadow government, they are not the ones running the show.
Look around you and see it everywhere. Movies, tv, their respective production companies, music videos and songs, t shirts, clothing, band logos, energy drinks, political candidates, corporate logos, sports team logos.
The synbols used in this very book are everywhere.
Why do you think that is? Because it was some long defunct society?
      Ha.
      Laughable.
      They own you rn.
They probably released this cypher just to see if anyone would even notice.

They are another code, which can't be deciphered with logic/machine, but are memorized and passed down to apprentices. Different rites have different symbols, but the words behind are pretty much the same. Not gonna say more, I already feel the sting in my heart ;) Have a good day y'all :)

    • @troodon1096
      @troodon1096 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The decoding of the Voynich manuscript you refer to has not been substantiated and most people reject the claims that the supposed decoding is correct.
But a later claim may in fact actually be more accurate (not the Turkish claim)... but it's not been widely accepted either. There still is no single decoding attempt widely accepted as an accurate translation/decoding of the original text as of yet.
The Zodiac Killer's cypher has been decoded though. None of what it says is particularly surprising, but the code itself is what's interesting, and how it was finally decoded.
